Awesome seafood amazing service love coming back to the place every year. If you're ever in the area it a must go restaurant. Don't miss it.
English: Le Matelot is one of my longstanding favorite seafood spots in the Rimouski region. The servers are always very kind, and the location is beautiful. Make sure to reserve ahead of time since it is almost always full, and especially if you want one of the tables that looks over the St-Lawrence (the view is incredible). Make sure to get: -Cheesy Garlic Bread (with or without shrimp): 9/10 - SO good, so cheesy, so rich, so delicious. A real treat. -Lobster!!!: Boiled 9/10, Grilled 10/10 - The grilled lobster is absolutely exquisite, as it is less watery and has a more concentrated, smoky flavor. The boiled is absolutely great as well. As someone with NOT a small appetite, I either go for a 2 pounder or for the special with 2 small lobsters (you can get one grilled and one boiled to compare!). Lobster looks big until you realize that there isn't much flesh to actually eat. Dip that lobster into delicious garlic butter and wow, no words. As for sides, they're not the star of the show. The rice isn't super flavorful, their fries are dissappointing, their salad is pretty good though, and you can also get a baked potato with sour cream (boring but does the job to fill you up). -Pudding Chomeur: 12/10 - Do NOT pass this up. I love pudding chomeur so much, and this one comes out warm, gooey, and so homey. The flavor is just like a comforting hug of sweet, caramelized fluffy goodness. read more
While driving through the Gaspesie region of the northern St Lawrence bay in Quebec we saw this restaurant- and the parking lot was packed for lunch. The menu item of a lobster club drew my attention. It was delicious and huge. Paired well with their sangria. I was in lobster heaven. Gaspésie National Park (French: Parc national de la Gaspésie) is a provincial park located south of the town of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Quebec, Canada in the inland of the Gaspé peninsula. The park contains the highest peak of the Appalachian Mountains in Canada, Mont Jacques-Cartier, 1,270 metres (4,170 ft) above sea level. In addition, the park contains the only population of Caribou found south of the Saint Lawrence River in Canada read more

We had a fabulous dinner here -- although we didn't have reservations, they said they could seat us if we are in 1.5 hours! So, we order the trio B (shrimp, seafood kebab, and a seafood chowder covered in cheese plus a side salad) and the 25th anniversary meal (shrimp cocktail, butterfly shrimp and the specialty shrimp plus two lobsters). It came with rice and dipping sauces. The service was good too. After dinner, we each sat in the big lobster chair outside the restaurant for fun. read more

As the most famous restaurant in the region, Le Matelot lives up to its reputation. The atmosphere and the service were great but the food was nothing less than superb. We wanted to try as much as we could so we ended up choosing Le Pirate (the pirate dish): two lobsters, two crabs, a mountain of mussels, Matane shrimps, deep fried shrimps, scallops with some rice and mush potatoes. This restaurant is for seafood lovers and you won't break your budget. Reserve a least a day in advance. read more

My wife found this great seafood restaurant on Yelp ( thank you again) while we were heading west down the South shore of the Gaspe pennusula. The service was friendly and fast. The selection and price range is very suitable for anyone wanting good fresh seafood. Would certainly stop in again when in the vicinity. read more
