Probably can only take 30 or so diners. We happened to arrive on steak and grill night - which meant cut-price steak. My wife and I live in the US and have had great steaks. Mark (the chef) did a fantastic job with our steaks. I have medium and my wife medium-rare. A lot of the time, they come out somewhere in between rare, medium-rare, medium and well done. Mark absolutely nailed it. Beautifully done. And the bonus was the chips. Can't get them like this in the US. My parents had lamb shank. This was extremely tender and had a wonderful flavour. Based on how good the main courses were, we ordered the Eaton mess (they were out of the Nutella version) and the possett. Never seen that with candy floss. Polished off both between us all. Our waitress, Alice, was attentive and let us know when there were things that would not work (she was able to substitute for the sweet potato) and took care with the gluten-free needs. This was such a pleasant surprise and the service and quality were simply outstanding - thank you Mark and Alice for a memorable experience.

I honestly cannot fault this place!…read more Tuesday is 2 courses and a free bottle of wine night. I kept having to check with the waitress that I could order something, but NOTHING is off the menu! NOTHING AT ALL! You have a couple of quid supplement on some thing like steak or duck, but otherwise it's a total foodie fest! My starter had lovely ripe fig with soft goats cheese, and the main (Assiette de France) was a pot of olives in fresh herbs and oil, a tomato pickle, a mini baked Camembert, two pairs of frogs legs, two fish cakes and some leaves serve on a slate. The house red wine is Fleur de Lys and the service is polite and connected. What's not to love. Next time I'm here, this is my destination of choice! I have to say how lovely the couple were at the next table. So friendly, with some great tips. I hope you celebrate the BIG birthday coming up with suitable aplomb, and maybe you'll give Facebook another chance :-)

This place is FANTASTIC and being as we love France you can't get anything more aunthentic than this. I had lamb shank which was cooked to perfection and my wife went for the scallops and monkfish which she told me was the best shed had in a long time,we both shared a warm chocolate brownie with a small glass of dessert wine which complimented the richness of the chocolate to perfection! I have to say I was very impressed with the whole experience and will be going back very soon, this time mob handed with friends!

A friend and I ate here Wednesday 1st June 2016 it's a small ish restaurant with around 10 tables for 2/4 on the ground floor, but a surprisingly larger room upstairs where functions such as tribute band nights a private do's are held I was impressed with the food quality. I had scallops raped in proceto, and my colleague had the veg soup. Both were tasty and well cooked the fish was tender and flavoursome the ham was crisp and and balanced well with the scallops, four scallops and a salad dressing My main course was Duck cooked pink with shaved root veg again flavesome and well balanced. When you first walk into this place you think, this is a bit small to be good, but eat your food then judge I was pleased with my food and so was my colleague. I will return and are going to try the tribute night

Myself and a friend who likes to think he is a lot funnier than he actually is (we all know one of those) went in the other day for a meal and were pretty impressed from the moment we walked into the venue. The place is immaculate.....like SO fresh! It's clean, smells like IKEA flatpack and has a really polished finish....I especially like the little courtyard as you walk into the venue....drinks out there on a sunny evening....lovely! We were walked upstairs by the manager after checking our reservation and taken to a table. The resturant is vast with many small rooms giving a cozy feel. We went into an upstairs room with large glass windows overlooking the canal and were sat down.....slight gripe....the restaurant was pretty quiet where we were and we were sat right next to another woman that was eating alone even though there were other tables which would have allowed a little more space/room to chat about mildly inappropriate topics....haha....not a huge ine really just felt a little weird as there were other tables available. We both had the pre theatre menu which is pretty extensive and has a lot of good options. We both had the rabbit pate to start....it was good but don't think I would go for it again.....then I had the pork medallions for my main. The pork was beautifully cooked with a side of dauphinoise and seasonal veg. All amazing I must say...big shouts to the sauce on the whole plate which was rich and full of flavour. The other slight gripe I have is the slightly over attentive service while you are in the venue but im putting that down to everyone there being so keen to impress. I can honestly say I'm honoured to have visited here with another fellow yelper. I must admit I've never been a big enthusiast of French cuisine, purely because my knowledge in wines accompanying a meal is zero to none. However! This restaurant has opened my eyes once again to European because the food was fantastic and to top that, what makes the difference is the customer service making me and my friend feel like home in this wonderful feeling overlooking the canal. The Pork Medallions was glazed with honey and mustard and layed with some sausage, mustard and pepper sauce with caramelised Apple. Such a combo makes a great mixture that your tastebuds just simply can't resist. The chocolate torte I thought was quite rich (not a massive chocolate fan so bear with me!) however, this was neutralised by the amazing black current ice cream produced from the restaurant chain itself. For an amazing price of £15 pp I can honestly say I feel like I robbed the restaurant for their hospitality. You have made me a very happy yelper Serena and I hope my tipped reached you. I said we hadn't got anywhere else to go as visiting Leicester for another purpose, and could we just take a seat and wait. Well, the door would have been closed if it hadn't been for maintenance work being carried out, we were told...... Not a good start. However, sat at a table for two.... Just mention that we've visited Bistrot Pierre several times in Birmingham, and also in Torquay, so we are somewhat "anciens patrons". Plus several stamps on the loyalty card.. So what did we have? Initial drinks: 175ml - Dry white wine for my wife - £3.95 Becks Blue for me - £2.95 Presented with some warm bread and (unsalted) butter - FOC. My wife had two courses - £10.95 Starter Pate & Chicken/Truffle Main I had three courses - £16.95 Whitebait for the starter with a garlic mayonnaise - Plenty of whitebait. The rump steak main (a supplement of £3.95) - which I found to be rather tough and grisly. (Also ordered a glass of 175ml Malbec - £6.50) Sweet - Crème Brulee - Which is always good. My wife felt that the ambiance of the Birmingham restaurant is better. Staff were friendly that eventually served us (not the person who greeted us). The food came at a steady pace. All reasonably priced menu. Wines can be a bit pricey. Turns out to be my son's favourite restaurant in Leicester.

You will find greenery running all upside the walls as well as a fantastic view of the canal. In the evening the ambience inside is also great. Reservations are available but you can usually get in without too much of a wait time. On this occasion I ordered a spinach and mushroom crepe which was fantastic! It's probably my favourite vegetarian dish that they do. It's a sensible portion that leaves you satisfied. For dessert I ordered the praline crepe which was again fantastic. You generally find with dessert crepes that they can do no bad no matter where your buying it from. Cotes crepes are above standard in terms of quality with a light pancake and not overly sweet praline feeling. For me in particular this restaurant shines in the summer. The cocktails are great and the dining experience is unique.

Oscar's makes such a refreshing change to the number of chain restaurants you find on the high street in Leamington. It's tucked away in a little side street and possibly very easy to miss if you don't know it, but it's well worth seeking out! The staff are very welcoming and gave us a choice of either being seated down or upstairs. Both times we've visited Oscar's we've sat downstairs and not been disappointed. There's a really buzzy, community feel and the service is attentive, but not at all intrusive. Oscar's is painted in a deep red colour with atmospheric candle lighting, making for a warm and intimate feel for a quick luncheon or leisurely dinner here. We've had both lunch and dinner here. Locally Oscar's is well know for it's excellent steak and chips. My partner had the streak and he thought it was indeed very good - cooked to his taste (medium rare) and succulent, but the chips probably let the dish down. The steak really needs to be served with chunky chips, but the ones which arrived were cut quite thinly and lacked that real satisfying taste you can get from well cooked (oil slick free) pomme frites! It's probably just down to personal taste, but if you compete with good gastro pubs/restaurants, you have to get everything right with a meal. The french soup is delicious and a great winter warmer if you're out shopping for the day. We've tried a few of their desserts and they're all homemade with a great attention to detail in their presentation - savour every mouthful. Their traditional Creme Brulee is to heavenly as is their Mousse au Chocolat. I honestly don't think you could go wrong with any of their lovely puddings! Reasonably priced and good quality food and wine, well served. I really can find little wrong with this great independent bistro. Highly recommend a visit!
