The hotel's location cannot be beaten. There are great views of both the countryside and of the city of Zürich particularly if you go up the observation tower. The west facing hotel rooms also have absolutely gorgeous sunset views. The staff has always been very friendly and professional and a pleasure to deal with. What's probably most surprising about the Uto Kulm is how reasonably priced it can sometimes be. I'm guessing that they must do a lot of large parties and big events and during the times between those events there are often good deals to be had. We paid way less than you would expect for such a scenic place overlooking one of the most expensive cities in the world. Breakfast here is also delicious. It's not included in the base room rate but it is totally worth it. Everything is fresh and high quality and the view from the terrace is great.

You can walk up to the tower for a view over Zürich, but be aware that there are a LOT of steps. I had to take lots of breaks while going up. :P Tip: If you need to use the restroom, just walk into the restaurant and go down the stairs on the right. They also have a cool shoe cleaning machine in addition to the breathalyzer there.

Was looking for something hearty and inquired about the quiches and opted for the bacon and garlic quiche. Got a latte macchiato as well. You can dine in and the quiche comes with a small salad. The latte macchiato had a layer of foam at the top and seems like they didn't sweeten it at all (sugar on the side) but it was perfect! I usually have a huge sweet tooth and love sweetness but I also can appreciate a good coffee as well, so for a sweet lover like me, the unsweetened version was amazing by itself and the foamed milk combination when you drink it was perfect. The bacon quiche was delicious as well!! They heat it up for you and it's a bacon, cheese with a crusted layer of goodness. Loved my first experience here and I can see myself coming back.

It was within an easy walk of our hotel, so we followed the recommendation. There were four of us and after eating such great food in Paris and along the Rhine in Germany, to be honest we were disappointed. We all had one of their soups. Ms T and I goulash soup and Tom Kha Gai respectively. I had a beer. These soups are not inspired, despite the recommendation. I would classify them as pretty institutional. My Tom Kha Gai had very little of the flavor that you expect. In fact we had a much better version on our cruise boat and the boat is not exactly the place to get great soups. There was very little lime or seasonings. Ms T's Goulash Soup was about the same. It did not taste of the rich paprika flavors it should have. I would classify it as average beef vegetable soup. We liked the little robot that delivers your food, but as for the food, it is OK, but don't expect to be impressed, if you like well flavored soups. And for $50 for two modest bowls of soup and one beer, I would expect better. This is a significant chain of restaurants in Zurich. You are getting fast-food quality.

You take a path here and there's a beautiful simple sign that welcomes you to this country home-style eatery. There was a birthday party going on and we were hot from hiking so we sat outside to enjoy the view. We found it very amusing that what we were doing stationed in front of the gorgeous view was exactly the same view on the label of the Swiss beer we ordered (so you can imagine how quaint it is here). Inside there are plenty of wooden tables and there were a few parties enjoying small bites and lots of drinks. There's a huge oven which I believe doubles as the place's heater. I posted pictures of the inside and outside as well as the menu. You can have a little dessert here if you prefer that over the cured meat platter we had which was really excellent. It came with some pickled vegetables and plenty of bread. The staff didn't really speak English but they were so sweet and gracious. The Swiss are such great hospitable hosts and we felt like we were visiting someone's home.
