Fideo Loco with Well done Beef Fajita
    Rey G.

I don't get the love affair with this place. There was no wow factor for me here. Just disappointment on a plate. Nothing here says this is authentic Mexican food here. It's a Tex-Mex masquerading as Mexican. Let me explain. More than half the menu is not Mexican fare. The people serving & cooking here are largely Mexican American. That's ok but dont call yourself something you are not. Let's start with the two plates that were ordered. The Carne Guisada plate was clearly Tex-Mex version of Carne Carne Guisada. The rice & beans were lackluster & uninspired. Rice dry and overcooked not steaming & fluffy. Refried beans were ok but nothing spectacular. Also, they needed to be seasoned. My order was the special of the day: Fideo Loco. The bowl was warm not hot. Also, I can tell the pinto beans were cooked separately & not with the Fideo. Everything I tried lacked seasoning. To me that kitchen 101. The fajita was room temperature & very well done and by the time it as put on top the Fideo it was cold. Beef fajita clay over cooked and past well done. It was almost dark & grey in color. Also, beef fajita should not be well done but have a little pink & sliced against the grain. This looked like Fajita lumps. The star here are those flour tortillas that nice, thick, fluffy but they should be put in a tortilla warmer not rolled in foil where they can get hard quickly. That was a bummer. The complimentary chips & salsa was great. Our waitress was slow & came only one twice to our table. Once to take the order & once to bring food. She checked in to our table when we were pretty much done which is too late. We hit no refills on those awesome chips. Another person brought an extra order of tortillas my brother ordered. The ambiance is loud and noisy. I don't mind but people were rushing to get there before they closed at 2 pm We got there a little after 1 pm. The place itself is a half aluminum half wood paneling palace with a tacky set up. Lots of mixed signage with no rhyme or reason. Those flour tortillas are the reason I wish I could give this place 2.5 stars but the unimpressive food offerings leave much to be desired. I expect plenty places to wow me and separate themselves from the literally hundreds of not thousands of Mexican joints in the area. There is nothing that would bring me back except those tortillas. I appreciated & they got 2 stars because the value of two people eating under $20 bucks with drinks stood out.

Here for my daughters softball tournament. I stopped at a local convenience store and asked the clerk, where's the best breakfast tacos in this town? He didn't hesitate and said Chile Bandera!!! These homemade tortillas are the bomb!!! Great customer service!!!

Ordered with cheese, but no cheese

Ordered 4 potato, egg, CHEESE tacos, to go. No cheese on any of them. The potatoes were dry and hard. Didn't see the problems 'til we got home, 12 miles away. Never again. Flies are also a problem.

The service was not fantastic, and I just overall was not feeling it. However, what the others had ordered in my party tasted much better than what I had received, but overall the service for our group was not fantastic. The only thing I really think they had going for them is the presentation of the food. I suggest starting with an appetizer and ending there.

A reviewer wrote that he missed it and was disappointed with his meal even though the photos he provided looked appetizing. After over 30 yrs in the business, it was sold and the name has changed because it is now specializing in burgers and steaks but with a lot of other traditional favorites. . We found the service to be fine, especially since my husband likes his cuppa coffee refilled often, and it was. There was not a cut off time given for breakfast hours on the menu and he was allowed to order their American omelette with hash browns (with toast) for $5.50 and I ordered the special of the day which was an avocado burger and hand cut fries for $7.95. We were both pleased with the meal and the price. The patties on their other burgers are advertised to be 1/3 lb and mine seemed to be that much or even more. Be aware that the burger comes with a lot of mayo and no mustard so that brings it down to a 4 star rating for me. If I had known how much mayo it was to have, I'd have asked for it and some mustard to be on the side. We cannot wait to go back for a steak dinner real soon. The hours posted on YELP are not correct....when it was sold, not only the name and menu changed but the hours too. The Rock House was never open in the evenings. The Rockin' C Grill is open from 9-2 and 5-8.

Y'know it's impossible to find street parking especially on the weekends normally. I had made reservations to meet some friends here for brunch/lunch 1145 am on a Sunday. This place is bigger than it looks! There's seating at the main building, plus a huge outdoor patio seating area, and an entire other building beautifully decorated. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and our server was excellent. We were seated in the other building near the windows. The menu wasn't huge, but just right with a few lunch and brunch items. After debating for a while of what to order, I decided on the Texas Gulf Shrimp plate. Agua Fresca of the day per our server was strawberry pineapple. Our server was able to water mine down slightly- since it was very sweet, but love knowing that it was freshly made. Complimentary chips and salsa always a plus, and we were able to order some spicy salsa to accompany at no charge. My shrimp plate was delicious! 2 skewers of nicely cooked and seasoned shrimp atop salsa with perfectly cooked cilantro rice and a fresh leaf salad. A half slices avocado accompanied my plate. Oh how I love avocados. I thoroughly enjoyed my plate. The chicken al carbon was also a good choice - half a chicken that was juicy, not dry. The avocado toast was beautiful and the pecan salsa was quite interesting. The female performers during our brunch in the room, made it very hard for all of us to have conversations. The volume echoed loudly in the room, so it was very hard to speak and understand each other. Although a great idea, maybe outdoor patio area might be more suitable. Beautiful space, great service, good food.
