This was my absolute favorite place in Mexico. It's expensive so we saved it for last. It is in the Zocalo along with a number of other shops and romantic places. We picked it because we loved the balcony seating. I am so glad we did. Not only is it beautiful inside, but they also have a great view. The atrio comprises multiple areas which serve multiple types of food, such as pizza. I am not sure what type our area was but there was Mexican, French, and Italian food listed.
Another plus is that this place had a fully funcitonal bathroom up to the standards we are used to in American. By that I mean it had free toilet paper, toilet seats, flushing toilets, a working sink, and soap. In Taxco, this was a gem to find. I am not sure if they'd let you use it if you weren't eating there, though.
We sat in one of the balcony sitting areas and watched all the fun in the Zocalo down below. Hubby picked a pitcher of orange juice made with seltzer water. It was ok, but I liked the regular one he ordered second. They brought out a complimentary appetizer consisting of bread and butter, chips and green salsa. The salsa was sooo sooo soo good. I ate it all. Hubby tried a small bit and said it was ridiculously spicy but for me it was just plain tasty.
Hubby ordered the Filete Guerrillero and I ordered the Sabana de Invierno. The Filete came with a bunch of vegetables and the Sabana came with beans and cheese on top. Hubby and I ended up swapping meals with one another, though we both agreed the Filete was the better meal. Afterward, we ordered crepes, which were so delightful it made me want to find more creperies here in Memphis.
Our waiter was very attentive and nice. He even showed us another sitting area with a nicer view so we could take pictures. The whole experience was amazing and we felt like we had gotten a deal. It felt like the kind of place and dinner that would've cost us $100 here but it only ended up costing about $40. I wish we had gone to more places like this while there but I am glad we at least made it here.
