Since we couldn't snag an 8-9 res. ahead of time for ANY restaurant in the quaint town we were staying in Ses Salines, Es Mestral was able to welcome us in without one.
Es Mestral's inside dining area is designed with lots of woods, straight lines and pops of warm lighting. The outside upstairs terrace is the winning card- especially in the summer: has about 2 (or 3?) massive patio umbrellas to safeguard against Mallorca's hot sun, walls are done in rocks with a peak-a-boo view of the Domus Dei next door.
Just like the town itself, Ses Salines restaurant scene is varied with Mallorquin foods and Es Mestral reflects that. Their chalkboard menu has something for everyone such as Bacalao, tongue, a cauliflower dish, etc.
For me, the star of the show was undoubtedly the chunky and juicy Cod cooked in a lite batter giving the fish slightly crunchy edges and served simply with 4 slices of potatoes and sautéed onions (too many onions for my taste).
