Went here for lunch during the week and the place was empty. The prices are on the high side since the restaurant is located in a very expensive area of the island and also they have got a few awards by Veja. The food is not terrible but not worth the price tag. The shrimp with white sauce was just meh but the fried and grilled shrimp were delicious. The service was average. Servers were not too friendly and it took a long time for the food to come despite the place been empty.

The Toca de Jurere in the Centro was closed for renovations at the time and since I was in town, I needed to get my fix in. My fix being the paella and the Bacalhau de Toca. At this time of the year, we needed reservations but we were able to score some earlier in the evening. The main problem that I have with this location is that it's so far out of the way and it's really really hard to find. Seeing how we were staying in the center of Floripa, the cab ride was quite long and seeing how it was New Years, the ride back was even longer. The good thing was that the food was fantastic and completely filled me up. I need to take a small nap after my girlfriend and I destroyed the Bacalhau de Toca and a bottle of wine. However, we did make it out for New Years later in the evening. For my review on the food, it is pretty much the same as the one in the center so I won't re-hash it but you can read it at: http://www.yelp.com/biz/restaurante-toca-de-jurer%C3%AA-florian%C3%B3polis I'll give the brief synopsis here: 1) Bacalhau de Toca is my go to dish here as the fish is cooked in a broth in a clay pot. 2) Paella is my second go to dish here 3) Bolinhos de bacalhau are a very good appetizer 4) I come to Toca de Jurere every time I am in town 5) I have never been disappointed by the food

I've eaten fish all over the world and this restaurant serves some of the best fish dishes. I only pretty much only get 2 plates here whenever I am in town. I either get the paella for 2 or the Bacalhau de Toca (cod dish) for 2. The bacalhau de Toca is always my first choice. They cook the cod in a tomato broth with onions, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, potatoes and olives in a clay pot. The flavor is fantastic and the fish is tender and melts like butter when you bite into it. They give you a side plate of rice (the rice changes each time that I go but it's not white rice) to go with this. The mixture of everything together is unbelievable. The paella plate is gigantic and is enough dinner for like about 4 days. I've tried a lot of the main courses (prato principal) here but those two are my favorite and my go to dishes. For an appetizer, I suggest either the oysters or the bolinhos de bacalhau (Deep Fried balls of cod). They give you lime to go with the bolinhos de bacalhau and the breading they use is fresh and light. This restaurant is, in my opinion, the best in Florianopolis. They are not open for dinner on Sundays and not open on Mondays so schedule wisely. I will say that you will be paying quite a bit when you come here but it is one of the places to splurge.
