We came here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. The service was excellent, friendly, and quick. The beer was good. We only had some snack foods (pastel - a bit fatty but tasty and crisp; and fried mandioca, which was good) so can't comment on the famous Comida Mineira. The fried chicken skin that we wanted to try at the recommendation of our friends, unfortunately was out. The (original?) owner of the place clearly was a fan of and friend of the Kubitscheck. An upstairs area is adorned with many photos of the former Brazil President with various other dignitaries and local hubbubs. It's kinda neat. It's located officially in Pampulha, which sounds good, but the building is a warehouse in a warehouse district 2 blocks from Antonio Carlos. Not too inviting. As you can read in the other reviews (in Português) this place has history; it's been there for close to 70 years.

I was not impressed with the French fries. Very bland, no crispiness. Worse than McDonalds. My black burger (R$25) was decent size and well prepared, but it was very sweet. Some greens or a slice of tomato would have been nice. My table partners were happier with their burgers than I was with mine. So my girlfriend and I, we went there Friday late night. We arrived there and someone really kind was "waiting" for us at the entrance. Then another person conducted us and let us comfortable for choose our table. They were super friendly without to invade our space. The time between our order and the food to be serve, was perfect. We could talk and enjoyed the place with no interruptions. Congratulations for such good restaurant in Belo Horizonte. It's one of my favorite places now ;)

We ordered the octopus appetizer to start. It had thick slices of octopus on top of soft potato slices. There was a chimichurri aioli that gave a nice kick to the dish. The main dishes were the moqueca and a rice with pork. Both were really well executed and tasty. The pork was amazing, actually. We had pineapple caipirinhas and a glass of wine. Prices were reasonable. They have a nice outdoor patio.
