We came for lunch on a Sunday and had an unforgettable experience with local cuisine. This restaurant is off the beaten tourist track but if you want to see how the locals eat a relaxing meal, this is a fantastic choice. Closed on Mondays per the owner.

The manager of the restaurant received me and was extra nice, he spoke to me in English and Spanish, so if you speak any of those 2 you are good. He recommended me some items on the menu here is what I chose: starter-favadas d' unha... (really big beans) one word to describe them DELICOUS... so that was a great start. For the main entree I got the Atum grelhado, which is a tuna filet (big portion) grilled and they put a home made butter on top that is out of this world.. this has been one of the best filets I have ever had. As soon as you arrive you get a platter with cheese, olives and the unbelievable home made butter, also a piece of freshly baked hot bread. He offered me some wines and ask me what region I wanted, I chose Duero.. wine was great too... The manager/server explained to me that it was a Restaurant from Açores which are a group of islands in the middle of the Atlantic that are part of Portugal, he even brought a book to show me Açores (he is from there). I also found out that his wife is the one in the kitchen! I told him tell her everything is delicious and he replied "I taught her good"... Overall a great experience and amazing food... do not hesitate coming here

Restaurante La Plage - Gazpacho - not authentic, but still delicious!

A surprisingly good restaurant for such a touristy location!…read more We stopped there because it was one of the best-looking spots near the popular Carcavelos beach, about mid-afternoon. Given how touristy the location is, we didn't have the greatest expectation, but we were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the service was impeccable. While not native speakers, when it came to food and service servers could speak and understand a great English and were very helpful when it came to helping out with the choice of drinks and food. The passionfruit sangria is the signature of the location and came in absolutely ginormous glasses, when ordered on a by-glass fashion (while still being reasonably priced). Not only was it refreshing, it was also surprisingly delicious for such a spot. For starters, we both went with gazpacho soup. While not authentic, it felt right for the weather and how we felt. Once again, it was extremely tasty and looked great! For the main dish, I took a whole-roasted fish (sea bass I believe) and once again, I was amazing. It was tender, it was well-seasoned, it was fresh, it was delicious and it came with a great seasoned olive sauce and baking potatoes. A really great example of the amazing seafood one can find in Portugal! My partner however was not as lucky. The crevettes skewer was lackluster and lacked any sauce or seasoning, while the crevettes were overcooked and rolled in flour prior to cooking, giving them a specific and not a very pleasant texture. Now, the desert - I went with a chocolate mousse - kept the whole trend of the culinary excellence going and was both chocolaty and delicious to the maximum. Overall, a great location, and if you are in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Got a sumptuous grilled sea bream fish, a hefty and tasty comfort food spaghetti bolognese, and a refreshing passion fruit sangria. Plus a soft and creamy flan desert. Highly recommended. I made reservations for my family dinner, but it probably wasn't necessary for the weekday. The staff was very attentive and helpful; they answered many questions had many recommendations. They even brought out the seafood for us to look at before we made our decisions. To start, we had raw oysters, baby squid, and grilled shrimp. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The baby squid was crispy and I liked the sauce it came with. The grilled shrimp was also fresh and the meat was tender. The star of the show was the spider crab. The crab we picked was meaty and the creamy sauce the mix in the crab head was so delicious and a perfect pairing with bread. Highly recommend. We also got the seafood rice, which was a bit too watery for my liking, but it was still good. Nunes is on the pricier side, but I think it was so worth it.
