Sometimes, not looking at the Yelp app turns out to be a good thing. At the time of this review, Edelyn's average is not so great. Nonetheless, my husband and I checked out Edelyn during our recent trip to Holbox, based on the recommendation of our hotel's front desk manager, and I can report that we had a good experience! Our plan was to dine at another popular spot for lobster pizza. Unfortunately, the skies opened up just as we were heading out and it wasn't possible to sit in a garden-type restaurant. Edelyn is mostly indoor space but with large, open windows, and they also have some seating outside, covered by an overhang, which is where we sat. We were able to watch the world go by while enjoying said lobster pizza (and another with chorizo, peppers and onions). This is a locals spot, and service was no frills. I do believe that my elementary spanish was welcomed, and it was certainly helpful in securing everything we wanted. Our pizzas were really solid and the beers were cold and cheap. read more

I walked in to taste the "famous lobster pizza". I wasn't. Impressed it needed marinara sauce. Customer service ehh no one came to the table to check on us. Not even onceI'm sure if. It was Mana again they would be served properly! Sorry señor to the owner of the restaurant and btw I asked for a margarita and if you want diabetes hi right ahead that drink was so sweet. Finally when the waiter approached I explain the drink and he said you should of said something sooner, Ok.. thanks for. Approaching us to check if everything was good! Don't waste your time guys! The pizza was great! I loved the famous lobster pizza here. It was delicious and big, lobster was fresh and abundant. The only downside was the service which was incredible bad, maybe is more accurate to say "lack of service". This was generalized at the more traditional restaurants that we visited in the island. We weren't expecting such bad service because is not the common denominator in mainland or at least in the Mexico capital which I had visited plenty of times in the past, on the contrary it is famous for the quality of service offered there. read more

We had biked into town and it started to rain and we ran inside to escape the rain. Server had us place our bikes on the patio to keep them dry. Nice! Very open and great to watch the rain and activity next to the town's square. Drinks? Horchata for me. It was huge & very good. Food? Queso Fundido. I know its hard to screw up melted cheese, but this was Very Good. We scraped out every last bit of cheese. Pizza. Medium easily feeds 2 people. We had pepperoni on one half (boring and heard it wasn't good). My half had Anchovies & Capers. Yum. The capers were huge and flavorful. It was the perfect salty goodness when hungover from Tequila. ;) But, the crust wasn't very good; too hard & crunchy. Service was great and he kept the drinks flowing. Once the novelty of pulpo (octopus) and lobster pizza wear off, you'll probably be disappointed in your decision to eat here. In brief, the promise of the toppings at Pizzeria Edelyn outshine the crust. While you wouldn't expect true Neopolitan pizza with a chewy, delicious salty crust in a sleepy seaside town in Mexico, when you consider the supposedly fresh seafood product they are working with, wouldn't it be so fabulous if the crust could live up to the delicious topping? I think we paid about $50 for a lobster pizza, which seems a little crazy considering the crust we were working with. Still, we had to try it. read more

Bad service from servers, rude, not good treatment. 6 years ago this place used to be one of the great ones in holbox, but, not anymore. I came with my friends and get really disappointed from the way this servers treat us. Don't think the owner know what's going on inside his restaurant, but you know when you feeling that something isn't right. Definitely I don't come back or recommend this place, holbox growth a lot and have a lot more places to go, look for some other place around. read more

We went here a few days ago, against the warnings of these reviews, so that we could be close to the central square. There was a Carnival Queen election that evening. We have had unfailingly excellent cuisine while on Holbox, and I'm afraid that this was absolutely the lowest quality meal we had. We had previously eaten at Roots Pizza just a few steps away, and we should have went there instead. read more

Came here on a friends recommendation. We ordered the Gauc., fish tacos, and the Lobster pizza. On a scale of 1-10 I give all of those dishes above a solid 2. I'm serious. If u don't believe me, try for yourself and I dare you to tell me I'm wrong. Nice people though. The Gauc had the flavor of under-ripe avocados and it was too "limey". The worst restaurant experience in Holbox.. we waited to get a table for few minutes and no one approached us even tho waitress were standing and just looking around and when one of the waitress approached us we asked for a table (in Spanish) and he just pointed to closest, dirty table that wasn't even cleared after previous customers, so we just walked away. read more

Pizza wasn't bad, the lobster pretty good actually but terrible service from the waiter who was not being nice at all when we asked if we could get a table on the terrasse he put us inside on a corner table and when we asked again because we didn't ask to go inside he said : "I can't decide when people finish to eat so I can't do anything for you". We politely agreed and asked that if a table was available even later that's ok for us but again not intention to help. 2min later a table was free and taken by other people in front of us and he didn't care. Other than he clearly looked arrogant and never said/asked anything about our meal nor à thanks when we were nice and said thanks or that food was good, also when we left he directly checked the tips we gave him with an amused look - and yes eventhough he was very rude and not professional we did give a tip because we are not like that. read more

After three horrible meals at our hotel I was happy to have a tasty, fresh dinner here. We picked it because locals were eating there, which is always a good sign. I enjoyed my ceviche de camarones with lots of shrimp topped with delicious tomatoes, red onion shreds and chopped cilantro-- a huge portion. The "mediano" pizza (vegetarian with avocado, eggplant, zucchini, peppers, etc.) was too big for two to share, and we're looking forward to having it for lunch tomorrow on the beach. Since this place has gotten mixed and poor reviews, we'll be trying some of the higher-rated restaurants in town. But still Edelyn is not a bad choice at all. read more
