Pleasant open air Brazilian restaurant near the oceanfront. I went on the recommendation Bistro…read morehas really good seafood. At least for my one experience on a very slow night, they do! I speak almost no Portuguese and my server spoke no English so we had fun with translate app and my bad pronunciations. She was professional and pleasant. I can sum up my evening in one word, fresh. Fresh ingredients, like just picked and just caught. The salad was enough for three and I ate most of it. The shrimp are the best I have ever had. When it comes to shrimp, I am like Forest Gump. Growing up in NC and Virginia and now Texas, where Atlantic and gulf shrimp are a staple and very good, I was blown away. Perfectly prepared, crisp and delicious with simple preparation of bread crumbs and just a dab of basalmic vinegar sauce to make very bite like heaven. Obrigada!!

I'm here on vacation at the beach house of my Brazilian girlfriend…read more She knows the Bistro Juquehy and really likes their calamari and fried fish. The interior is nice and you feel welcome. In difference to the other reviews the service was fast and good which could be the case of the low season. All dishes and drinks are pricy. I ordered chicken with a spicy mango sauce and tomatoes and (buffalo) mozzarella and salad. Everything was really good and no reason to complain. She ordered the steak with fries (palha) and rice. She wanted to have it medium (ao ponto). The first of the two was medium well. The second one was well done. When we complained the waiter said that the steak is medium. After a short discussion he went into the kitchen and they prepared a new steak. The new steak was rare and for her not really a pleasure to eat. Great atmosphere but the food has tons room for improvement especially for these prices. Plus: a waiter shouldn't discuss if the steak is medium when it's dark and so well done that it was almost impossible to cut it.

I wouldn't recommend the couvert. It's $18 for goat cheese + bacalhau + chicken liver pate (similar to foie gras) in Port wine. The whole assortment was interesting, but they have a single type of french bread which was bland. Appetizers * Cheese Salad (Salada ao queijo St Marcelin Empanado com nozes) was good, but I wouldn't get it again. The fried cheese was very interesting touch * Tartines were very good, I'd recommend. They had a thin crunchy toast base, and the toppings were lively and tasty. Dessert * Excellent place for dessert, everything we had was outstanding * The Tarte tatin was very good. The apples had a balance between firmness and softness that was extremely good. The tarte crust was thin and soft. * Café gourmand - comes with a creme brulee, chocolate mousse and a macaroon. Probably the best chocolate mousse I've ever had. The texture is amazing. They said the mousse was the main house dessert based off an 80 year old recipe.
