Then when they sent me the final copy it had bullet points out of place, grammatical errors, and line placing was all off. If I could give a negative 5 stars I would. They said they could write a military to civilian resume and after months and 3 different writers nobody could write anything that looked like I had any work experience. First they just copied bullets and put them on a resume then they tried to add some verbiage but basically made it look like I just started in the workforce after 20 years in the military with plenty of supervisor and manager experience. I started by chatting online with a customer service rep. who said he had been with the company for 15+ years; but, he could not even use a proper grammatical contraction. When asking anything other than a general question of a customer service rep. on the phone, they hung up on me instead of transferring me to a knowledgeable person (if they have one). After calling back and getting hung up on 4-5 times, they knew I wasn't going to stop told me that they've had phone problems. I kept the conversation at an 8th grade level and then when finished, they didn't give a closing question (e.g. "Was I able to address all your questions?") or provide a statement (e.g. "Thank you for your call. We hope to serve you in the future.")... just the click of the phone being disconnected. Thank goodness I didn't spend a dime with these guys and I hope you don't either. When searching online, don't get fooled by that "Top 10" website with Resume Professional Writers at the top - that is another scam. Real resume writing $$$$ while editing is much more reasonable. I had Googled the best resume writers, and Resume Professional Writers came up at the top of the list. Normally I research through reviews before making any purchase, but this day for some reason I took Google as the word on this. I purchased the Deluxe Package, and submitted my information to have my resume written up. Only after making the purchase I started looking at reviews. My heart sank. Wow, the reviews were really, really bad. I instantly had buyers remorse and started stressing out about what kind of mistake I had made by shelling out hundreds of dollars for a resume that might end up worse than I could produce on my own. I ended up getting paired up with Toni Young to write my resume. Toni was fast, professional, and did a great job. She was quick to get the job done, very responsive, and needed little direction. Honestly, I had submitted an absolute mess to her, and she made clear sense of it. When I learned the name of my resume writer, I did look her up on LinkedIn to make sure I had a professional in my area of interest, and not someone who would have no idea what hiring managers would be looking for. I was very pleased with my writer's work history and trust that she was the best fit for writing my resume. My only complaint with Resume Professional Writers is that there were some issues with their website working properly when I would attempt to login. There was also a spelling error in the error message. If you're going to tell me I can't log in, at least tell me with correct spelling. :) I would recommend Resume Professional Writers. I found this company online and purchased a resume package. I've been revising my own resume for years and needed a fresh perspective so I decided to go with RPW for a brand-new resume. They ask you to fill out a bio, send an "old" resume, and a job your looking at, which I did. I specifically wanted a resume built for a Netflix position. I was VERY disappointed at the first draft I received! They used my "old" resume that I sent them (format, font, exact style) and replaced a few words here and there. None of which remotely followed the Netflix job description - AT ALL. I sent the job description again and still, she did not add key words or anything that would stand out (among other things like a beauty pageant I won years ago that was in my bio under achievements, but never once did I think was relevant and she used it!). I gave up because I had already paid my money. I took out the pageant nonsense and fixed all the typos myself. Then I applied for several jobs just to see if it would work - and guess what? After several months - no calls!! They claim to know what the employers are looking for, but reflective of their work, I know that is not true. Don't waste your time or money on this scam. After seeing some positive changes Resume Pro Writers made to an associate's resume, I decided to give them a try with my own resume -- to see how well they'd summarize and re-format my 12 years of professional experience. At worst, I figured (as a writer and marketer myself), I could use their work as a starting point or template, helping me get over the writer's block I was having with this particular project. I ended up mostly wasting my money (thankfully, I chose their lowest priced option so financial loss wasn't too extensive). The resume draft they delivered was a terribly botched version of my resume, riddled with typos and unnecessary falsehoods (clearly written by someone for whom English is a second or third language, and seemingly by someone for whom the U.S. job market is a foreign entity). Beyond the obvious ridiculousness of the typos and blatant falsehoods (I'm not one to trick my way into jobs or grossly exaggerate my skills -- I have enough talents and experience that it's totally unnecessary to do so), the resume draft Resume Pro Writers provided also had inconsistent formatting and bizarre content structure (eg., responsibilities and results treated differently for each position, in some cases without logical differentiation). Like a previous Yelp reviewer of Resume Pro Writers, I had to completely re-do their work, salvaging only about two phrases and some of the design template. I decided not to take them up on the offer of "unlimited revisions" because it would have been a waste of my time (faster to fix the issues myself -- and I now have zero confidence in their ability). Nonetheless, I made them aware of my displeasure with the quality of their work, and they couldn't be bothered with a response. I initially found RPW on Google and purchased their package at $125. After filling out their questionnaire and submitting all information, I looked up their YELP reviews a day or two later. My stomach sank and I was extremely worried after reading all the negative reviews. When my initial draft came in I was pleasantly surprised- it was GREAT! Basically, it covered all the following goals I had: Formatting better than anything I could do myself; focus skill-based, more of a "bullet-point"/easy to read style. I was very disappointed by the service, or lack of it, that I received. Initially I thought I would receive some type of communication with the "writer" but I got a generic form to fill out. They did message me a time or two with the rough draft of the resume. I signed off on what they did, simply because I was pushed for time and needed to get it out. After I reworked it quite a bit I had a resume I could use. The Linkedin portion of the "service" was a total rip-off. I don't understand why you're claiming that I never sent my online portfolio to my writer, I did send it to them and had a lot of issues with them understanding that I don't have Microsoft word on my computer as well and I only send pdf with my applications. I've told them that certain times and there's proof in the messages which also concerns me that you seemed to miss that. The fact that I work in a Mac environment and can only send a pdf makes the portfolio link unclickable which makes it useless on the resume and I expressed that concern many times. I have applied for 58 jobs over the last 6 months and not one single callback. They did take my $300 from credit card though. I'm back at square 1 doing my own resume and $300.00 lighter while being unemployed. I heartily DO NOT recommend Resume Professional Writers to other job seekers. I chose RPW for three reasons: 1) they have a package that includes not only the resume but posting on 25 job board sites (as well as cover and thank-you letters, which I was less interested in, but they were part of the package); 2) I did extensive research first, and found them at the top of several "best resume service" and reviews lists (I see here that others found the opposite - I guess I looked at the wrong lists!); and 3) both reviews and their website paint them as experts/professionals in the field, including indicating that they "have mastered the art of job board posting;" they specified that they convert the completed resume into plain text that can be read by the job sites. I was able to get less than half of my money refunded from RPW, which was not nearly enough but I had to haggle to get that much (and after we came to an agreement they called me back to try to lower it again). Ultimately they cost me many times more time and work to clean up and repair the extremely detrimental online picture of me they created with the job board sites, than it would have taken me to do the work myself. I had to go through about 5 revisions of my resume, correcting grammatical and repetition errors that no professional writer would have let go by, let alone an "expert resume writer" or even anyone with any command of English. I had to tell them more than once to remove the repetitions. They paid no attention to what I wrote in their own questionnaire to guide them in creating a targeted resume for me; they copied a good deal of the language in the resume from an earlier version of my own that I'd sent them to provide my work history and info for the cover letter. In large part they simply took what I'd written and dropped it into a different format (a generic/template format). I discussed particular concerns that I wasn't sure how to address - those, too, were ignored, except that they advised I address those concerns in cover letters...and then did NOT address any of those concerns in the cover letter they provided for me. I paid them for writing services - they used my words, I had to correct amateur writing errors (more than once), and their cover and thank-you letters were completely dry and generic, nothing I can use. All signs indicate they simply pull templates from the internet for both formatting and letter-writing, and that they do not have the writing expertise required to target or personalize resumes and letters. Against my dissatisfaction with the resume and letter process, I held positive, even initially praised their work, because the job board postings were the most important to me. I'd struggled enough with those in the past that I had given up trying to use them, and here, too, I expressed my concerns and difficulties to RPW even though all indications were that they are the experts who know how to avoid those difficulties. Then I started seeing the results of their postings - they had all the same problems I'd had and clearly had no idea how to deal with the sites, and like the writers, they ignored my answers to their own questionnaire. I decided to give them a chance to fix it all, and they put in some effort, but made everything worse. The sites showed up with my resume information garbled and mixed up; with target job titles that were neither what I asked for nor relevant to my work history; with ridiculous skill set lists which were clearly extrapolated (again erroneously) by the sites; with erroneous dates which RPW made up for my work history; with erroneous information pulled in for job descriptions. It was bad enough that they clearly didn't know how to handle the sites; even worse is that they did not check their own work for accuracy before posting it. In the end on those sites I looked like someone who made up false information, who had no idea what she was doing, and who couldn't be bothered to check her work before putting it out there for employers to see. It took me days to correct and remove the damaging image they created of me. I hope you other seekers will read this long post and avoid hiring RPW. They are courteous, they sell themselves convincingly, but they are neither professional writers nor experts with the job sites. Their advertising and self-representation are FALSE. read more

I got assigned to Priscilla Smith who was a total professional and worked with me and even followed up with a few rounds of tweaks after I realized that I hadn't actually sent her the most recent version of my resume and was wrestling with how to word certain qualifications. I was totally blown away by the beautiful formatting of the resume and cover letter that I received and would highly recommend this service, especially since you can't argue with the results because I got the job and in for that in hindsight, I would have paid double what they charge. The job market is competitive and you never get a second chance to make a first impression. If you think you don't need this service, you are mistaken. A second set of eyes looking at and revising your resume from a different perspective is precisely what can make the difference. Remember that you likely need to get past electronic screening software and then HR professionals who are often unfamiliar with your profession who will filter your resume for reasons unrelated to your qualifications if exact phrases or experience doesn't precisely match the job posting before your resume even reaches the hiring manager. They assured me that they could translate my military experience to a civilian resume. When I got the draft under other experience they listed Seaman Apprentice. I'm retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. I requested a new writer that understood the military. When I received a call from my new writer she couldn't even tell me what a Chief Petty Officer was other than to say it was a rank. this is a scam website. they are not really in berkeley.. or even the US.. I just had to put something in that field. They offer 'professional' resume writing services. They are listed as the top site on a website called top10resumewriters.com ... I did Who is? searches on both sites, with no listings on network solutions or internik.. they come up as gibberish on some other who is searches, probably hosted out of the country.. and I'm sure owned by the same shifty organization. My father recently made the mistake of paying for their services. He filled out some questions and they sent him back a (pretty well) formatted resume, with all his text copy any pasted into it. It was really horribly done. I'd give them 0 stars if I could. they included a lot of useless information, repeated things over and over.. and weren't even able to pick out obvious skills and strengths to put on the resume.. other then those my father told them about in the questions he answered. The resume service is mediocre at best: I had to point out to the most ridiculous issues for revision and half the time I had to ask at least twice to do the same revision because it was ignored the first time. I ultimately gave up and said that the version was final, even though I am still reworking it now to actually make it fit the job that I specifically asked this resume be tailored to. It was quite clear that the person who was working with me had no clue about the field (academia/research). I am also particularly unhappy about the fact that the package supposedly includes a Cover Letter (and I was told by the online customer service rep) that is supposed to be customized directly for the job I am applying for. Well, instead, what I got was a generic meaningless letter that had nothing to do with either me or the position (and when I emailed the writer to say that this is not at all what I expected, I did not even get a response). This is misleading and cheating service and I definitely DO NOT recommend this to anyone. read more
