We began by taking the CliftonStrengths assessment and discovered that learning is one of my greatest strengths. He was very impressed with my high level of self-awareness. With a smile, John calmly listened as I led the discussion on the report. He recommended that learning is a strength. Embrace it. Also, John emphasized the importance of patience. He told me it took him two years to complete his psychology master's program. I discussed every career idea that entered my mind as I desperately tried to put the pieces of the puzzle back together again: lawyer, accountant, financial analyst, engineering, real estate, psychology, you name it. John never said I shouldn't do this or should do that. He said, "It's essential that we have a goal to work toward. Then, we will discuss what went well, what didn't, what our next step is, and what obstacles we must overcome. We will answer any questions you have. You are in the driver's seat during our sessions." After taking a break and doing some soul-searching, I discovered having a creative outlet in addition to learning is vital to my fulfillment.
