Kolby was really systematic in his approach. First, he helped identify what I was truly passionate about. Second, he was almost a therapist in the sense that he addressed the work insecurities I had. Once I was on board and believed that I could do the work I wanted to do and do it well, he edited my resume and cover letter and LinkedIn profile. Then we used the remaining sessions to do some interview preparation, and really worked on telling my story in an interesting way, and ensuring that the interviewers understood it too. What I like about his approach was that he taught me that interviews are just as much about me interviewing the company as it is about them interviewing me. It was a mindshift for me to be picky and protective about where I want to work too. Anyways, with Kolby's help, I landed at a great place that resulted in a 45% salary increase! also the work life balance is much better, and the type of work is interesting too. Could not recommend Kolby enough!

So, I originally wrote this review almost four months ago. Julie LaCroix saw the review and…read moreresponded to it. However, did she do anything to make sure she answered the main element of the complaint (that she won't stop spamming me in spite of numerous requests over the years - including those apparently only decorative "unsubscribe" links in her emails?). No. Screen shot for proof. Draw what conclusions you will. Original Review and Comment on Response: I had two appointments with Julie LaCroix several years ago. I ultimately thought the sessions were a waste of time and (quite a lot of) money. She decided my skill set made me a particularly good fit for a specific type of job, and she disregarded my repeated protests that the job in question went against my moral values. She made up her mind and was incapable of hearing anything that didn't align with her first (somewhat arbitrary seeming) idea. She ended our last session by throwing together a ridiculous, typo-ridden resume in a couple minutes targeted at a position I had made clear I would not apply for. (Since that time I finished my graduate degree and am working in a suitable career.) After our second meeting, I was ready to move on and not give career therapists another thought. I have not had that luxury, however, since Julie LaCroix has spammed me and stalked me on social media ever since. Every couple years, I get re-added to her email list which I have never given her permission to put me on, and she has not responded to messages asking her to desist. She also periodically tries to connect with me on social media (she is undeterred by my refusal to connect with her, and, again, does not respond to messages asking her to desist in contacting me). I understand that she thinks networking will help grow her business. I don't understand why she thinks harassing people and ignoring them when they object would be beneficial to anyone. Given her systematic abuse of my personal information, however, I am no longer surprised that she could not process my objection to an unethical career. **Regarding Response** Notice the non-denial regarding the abusive email practices I describe. Also note the absence of a statement that she would address this matter and make sure I am not re-added to her list again in the future. The rest is a matter of he-said-she-said, but why, after 11 years, would I have reason to think of her--much less make random false claims in a review? I would encourage her to check her email (julie@julielacroix.com) to see that I have, in fact, contacted her multiple time over the past 11 years to ask that she stop re-adding me to her spam list. She has also found me years after using her (dis)services and tried to get me to engage with her professional profiles on Facebook and Instagram over the years. The dishonesty/lack of integrity in her response here is appalling.

She consistently kept me updated, answered my questions promptly, and provided honest insight that helped me feel prepared and confident. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to finding the right fit--not just filling a role--truly set her apart. And when combined with in-person sessions with Teresa, it's an incredibly helpful set of tools, since she provides a ton of great, real-time feedback and support that's flexible to your situation. Judy is so good that I have now become a repeat client of hers. And just like the first time I went to see her (2016), this second time I was also offered a job! A promotional opportunity arose outside of my company and I knew the competition would be fierce. Not to fear, I thought, because I knew Judy could help me dust off my interview skills. I still had Judy's material and notes from the first time I saw her. Shoot, there were a few techniques Judy taught me in 2016 that I continue to use since I am routinely presented with hypothetical situations and asked to make sense of them. I was surprised, and humbled, at how many of Judy's skills and techniques I had forgotten since I last saw her. I knew after completing my first session with her that I'd need a second. Once again, Judy's guidance propelled me to a second-round interview. My soon-to-be boss told me that the first-round interview had gone so well, the panel urged that I be interviewed ahead of the second-round schedule. For this, I have Judy to thank. Judy has a way of coaching you through complex concepts and breaking them down into bite-sized pieces. She's a master at working with you to identify your own experience and crafting just the right "elevator pitch" to use in panel and one-on-one interviews. Judy's formulas for answering hypothetical questions, word choice for describing one's achievements, and tips on how to negotiate a higher salary for yourself are truly incredible. Her hour-and-a-half sessions race by and are actually fun. I'm a pretty cheap person, but I'll tell you Judy's worth every penny of her fee. I have zero question in my mind that when the next promotional opportunity arises for me, one of the first people I'll call is Judy.

When we first met, I never considered myself a bad interviewer, until Judy told me the truth. She is very honest, warm, friendly, incredibly knowledgable, caring and professional. Her background provided me valuable insight with interviewing skills that I will continue to use throughout my educational and professional career. Judy even called me to follow-up to see how my interview went. Needless to say, it went incredibly well but I truly appreciated that she took the time to check in with me. However, in full disclosure, her prices are a bit high. Although it was still expensive, I invested two scheduled sessions with her. Yes, I said invest because that's what you will take away from meeting with her. I am much more confident with interviewing than I ever have before thanks to Judy. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a Career Counselor! Give yourself a chance, and invest in yourself and call Judy! She is an amazing person!
