Lo and behold - I was that guy when I met up with Linda @ Affinity Furniture and to add to the twist - I happen to live in California and Affinity is in New Jersey. Here's how the story unfolded, I had a particular chair manufacturer that I really have loved for years, and after 20 years the chair had seen it day in the sun. So naturally I started my hunt right in my backyard only to find the Mfg had gone out of business! So, I started calling around the country to try and find dealers who still had any stock of this particular mfg. and Affinity had some still in stock! The catch was that they didn't normally re-box and ship across the country! But LInda and Steve stepped up and wow did they do an above and beyond the call of duty exceptional job! The packing was flawless and the shipping was seamless and came off without a hiccup - 4 days to get to me! The communication and ease of doing business with these folks was something one seeks out time and time again! What a GREAT experience! We ordered a custom sofa from Sheffield with COM fabric. All dimensions of the sofa were clearly…read moredelineated on the order form, carefully reviewed by Sheffield, and signed off by Sheffield and us. The sofa was delivered with the correct fabric and looked good. However, we later realized that the chaise portion of the sofa was 3 inches narrower than specified on the order form. Instead of being 39" wide (interior) it is 36" wide. Sheffield has refused to do anything to make the order match what was specified, what they agreed to, and what we paid for. They claim that being 3" narrower is "within spec" and maybe a result of the fabric pulling it narrower. The fabric!?! Pulling a wooden frame in 3"?!? An absurb dodge to avoid their cost to rebuild the sofa as specified. Sheffield did not stand behind the contract that they signed to deliver quality furniture.

We have two…read moreBadington Young chairs that look like regular chairs, but are actually very comfortable recliners. The foam in the seat cushion and the lumbar cushion in one of the chairs had deteriorated over the years. I called and asked if they could get replacements. They did. I went to pick them up and, when I offered to pay, they told me no payment was necessary because this typical after the sale service. My chair, the one where we replaced the foam in the cushions, has to be at least 15 years old. With renewed foam in the cushions, I'll be good for years to come. I got just what I needed at no cost. With some antique stuff thrown in here and there, the overall theme is fairly conventional. I stopped by a few days ago to check out their new store. It's significantly bigger than Nana's Attic, which means it feels far less cramped. Yay! Still very good prices, the "yellow tag" items are consignment and generally higher priced than the store's donated stock. It about killed my soul to see an awesome vintage salt & pepper mixed in with newer dishes in a consignment lot. Aaah! Staff are great, the store is clean and bright. I'll definitely be back. Note: angled parking in front of the building is NOT free, Pontiac is a public street, and those are pay at kiosk metered spots.
