California Wedding Officiant - Andrew was so special all the time, since the day we choose him till the day of our wedding

Andrew was great he was able to officiate our wedding with short notice (about 2 weeks) as our original officiant was not able to follow through. He's very professional and organized. He had everything laid out, and was very helpful for what we needed to do after the ceremony. Thank you so much for saving our wedding.

Andrew was very professional and presented a template of vows that we can work with. Being that we are both very busy and expecting a child soon, working on the details of ceremony and vows was a lower priority so it was great Andrew had something we can work with!! Andrew followed up closely with us up until the day of ceremony so we knew what to expect. No surprises for sure! On the day of ceremony, Andrew arrived at the meeting point (Palace of fine art) more than 1/2 hour early as not not be late. Of course, we ended up running behind schedule by 15 mins... but this goes to show you the professionalism of Andrew. After the ceremony, Andrew closely followed up with us about submitting paperwork to the city, and also about obtaining a valid copy of our marriage license. Overall Andrew was great from beginning to the end. He has made a stressful event not stressful. His professionalism is well appreciated and his performance in speech was great. We highly recommend Andrew for your next officiant needs!

Carol was such a gem of a discovery. We weren't sure if we were going to have a friend to…read more'officiate' our wedding since we already had done our civil ceremony. We figured we'd just repeat a few words for the sake of a ceremony and move on... BUT THEN! We found Carol - the sweetest, caring reverend who added so many ornate intricate details to the ceremony and made it extra special for all guests. ** THE LEAD UP ** Carol spent time getting to know us personally, something not all officiants do. She also gave us homework that made us feel vulnerable with each other, and that made us feel closer together. I always thought couples counseling was for people who had issues, but it turns out you can feel closer together even when you didn't think it was possible! ** THE CEREMONY ** Carol was able to suggest things like a candle lighting, and chiming of a spiritual bowl in the beginning, but also added some lighthearted funny jokes within her speech. She brought our families closer together during the ceremony, and a found a way to get everyone involved when I thought originally it would just be my husband and I going down the aisle. Everyone was so touched by the ceremony, they mentioned this was certainly the highlight of the night -- many friends who have hearts of stone were moved and even teared up. :) Glad we were able to touch the hearts of all our friends and family with the help of Carol. TLDR: Carol is truly amazing, brings spiritual elements and families closer together when you didn't think you could be any closer. I cannot wait to meet up with Carol again.

Our guests felt connected to the ceremony. as has been mentioned many a time to us since the day. It was a beautiful fixture of the day, rather the price of admission for a good meal and a party. Carol was supportive, insightful and kind through every step of the way. We weren't afraid to say our vows to each other in front of our friends and family because she helped us to feel so confident in the words we were saying to on another. We fully trusted Carol, her help and her ability to guide the ceremony. We highly recommend meeting with Carol. Without her we wouldn't have been pushed to write the vows we needed to for one another. We may not have taken the time to reflect so deeply and in depth on our relationship and that would not have produced such a genuine exchange between us and our friends and families through the ceremony. We had not felt so much happiness, love and cheer in such a long time. Thank you Carol for making our ceremony a time in which we finally got to breath and focus on each other. In the end that is what the whole thing was about... Our love and choice to be each others partners, the joining of our worlds and the presentation of that love to those we hold dear. Thank you for helping us to honor that truly.

That said, we are sad to be writing only a 3 star review based on our experience. HIGLIGHTS: 1) He was very quick to communicate and always friendly and personable on the phone 2) He was flexible with us changing our date due to the pandemic 3) He was very determined to say my husband's non American name correctly and he did! Thank you so much for that, Reverend Rich! DISAPPOINTMENTS: 1) Wedding day speaking was a lot more monotone and less energetic than what we had hoped for 2) The vows he read at our ceremony were NOT the same as the ones we confirmed in the "final vows" email. 2a) My husband and I both checked this before I sat down to write this review. At best, this was a lack of organization that left us surprised at the altar. Specifically, we removed "for the first time" when Reverend Rich would introduce us as "Mr. and Mrs." We had explained to Reverend Rich that because of covid, we had already been legally married for a year and I had been going by my new last name since then. So, it was not "for the first time" that I was "Mrs.". Some of our less close guests were left confused, and my husband and I had to hide our frustration at the end of the ceremony. Reverend Rich was also aware that we did not need to be legally wed (since again, we had already been legally married for a year at that point), as we discussed not having a marriage license for him to sign. 2b) He also had added "let's do that again" after my husband and I kissed. It wasn't clear if we were supposed to kiss again (which we did), or if the audience didn't clap loud enough to his opinion. The possibility of the latter left us somewhat embarrassed. TLDR; nice guy, but the word doc called "final vows" that we got was not in fact the same doc that he read at our ceremony

We had started working with Terry about 6 months before and had exchanged lots of emails and had met in person. All of the preparations left us knowing Terry was going to be great of the day and he was. It is great when you can "tick" something off your preparation list and have no doubt it's going to be great, and all you have to do now is look forward to the day and actually enjoy the ceremony. We are not religious, and in fact we were already married before the wedding, so really this part of the day could have just been a formality that you had to do, then everyone could get on with the fun parts of a wedding, like eating and drinking too much. The reality was Terry made his short part the focal point for the whole day. We had originally hoped that Terry would read our vows out, because neither of us likes speaking in public, but on the day before, Terry let us know that he thought it best if we read them out as they were so personal. This was a bit of a shock, but in the end, Terry was right, we agreed, and it really made a big impact. The ceremony was funny, serious, meaningful and special. It was a pleasure working with Terry. Like others have said, we really hope we don't have to use Terry again as this marriage is forever :-) but I would give him the highest recommendation to anyone looking for a wedding officiant for their special day.
