Chilli with Israeli couscous and hummus
Georgie B.

Revive is one of my favourite lunch places in Auckland's CBD. I have been coming here for about five years now and I love their delicious vegetarian salads, dahl, curries, soups and many other dishes! Here is a taste of what you might find on their menu: - Revive Raw Salad with beetroot, carrot and mint - Israeli Couscous with pumpkin, homemade aioli and green beans (I am not a pumpkin fan, but this salad makes it surprisingly taste good!) - Moroccan tagine with chickpeas on brown rice - Leek and feta frittata with potato and free range eggs - Mexican 'not chicken' and bean stew on brown rice... and so much more! Revive also sells smoothies and great lunch box snacks which you can purchase at the counter - their bliss balls are moorish! And, if you fancy recreating Revive's dishes at home, the owner, Jeremy Dixon, has released five cookbooks, which you can purchase in most stores or on Revive's online website. Note: They now have new eco-friendly packaging, which is used for dine in and take out (see picture). Also, if you sign up to Revive's newsletter, you will receive a recipe each week, great tips for living a healthy lifestyle and printable $4 off vouchers - bonus!!!

Review Highlights - Revive

We tried one of the hot pots served over brown rice, and three of the "salads," which were more like vegetable concoctions, some hot, some cold.

I'm down there at least once a week with my dragonboat team training, and am always greeted with a smile when I grab my (excellent) coffee. The food is pretty awesome too, fresh fresh fish and a great breakfast menu to enjoy while the sun rises over the gently swaying masts, it's a great place to spend a morning. Nice and quiet too, away from any other bars and restaurants, good little secret here

The location is lovely - looking out over the water at all those boats. Beautiful on a stunning Auckland summer day. ... But the food is just average. I ordered bacon and eggs on ciabatta. And while you can't exactly screw that up, you can make it pretty average - which is exactly what this place did. The bacon was terrible quality, it was covered in fat and it came out looking horrible on the plate, just dumped on the side. My poached eggs hadn't been drained properly and were watery tasting as well, so that made the bread taste awful. The bread wasn't well toasted, it was somewhere in between... I just don't get it. I could have got better at home, and I wouldn't have paid $18 for it. The muesli that my friends ordered was bland and didn't come with any yoghurt, so it looked dry as anything. Coffee was average, it wasn't disgusting but it wasn't great. It's just... pretty average. It seem clearly to me that this is a place that relies solely on its location.

The ambiance was vibey and loved that I was sitting outside, but still covered from the sun. The waiters were so nice and were able to answer any questions I had. I ordered an iced hazelnut oatmilk latte and a fried chicken benedict and they were delicious! The latte was the perfect drink to wake me up for a busy day ahead! They definitely do eggs benedict different but it was still so tasty. Instead of the usual english muffin, they used an herb rostis, which is a crispy hash brown round. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy. The herb rostis was also crispy and paired well with the creamy poached eggs! I miss this meal so much and dreaming of having this again the next time I go back to Auckland!

I love that they offered both still water or sparkling for the table. I ordered the salmon benedict and it was delicious! Their menu offers gluten free as well as dairy free options. Vegetarian or vegan? They have options for you too. I ordered an Americano and it was full bodied and came in a large mug. I only wish we'd had more time in Auckland so I could come here again.

I had read this was a new hot spot in town and my husband and I decided to give it a try! We went…read morefor an early dinner and there was 1 other table seated. Our server was super sweet and attentive until we placed our orders. We never saw her again, no mention she was leaving for the day (I could see her inside on her cell phone and changed with a backpack). Our food was delivered and the other server didn't seem to notice (or care) that our water glasses were empty, as I found out that she too were on her way out of work. We didn't get water refills until the check came, in which is was a third server and then it took probably 2mins for her to run our card because she was busy setting tables and chatting with coworkers. The food here was amazing and filling- large portions, but the Mac n cheese was disappointing. I would give this 4 stars, but due to the fact that the servers are more interested in going home and chatting with coworkers than taking care of their guests (at one point we were the only table in the whole place and still couldn't get a water refill), this place is getting only 2 stars. It's got potential if it gets new staff.

As you can see with the photos, Dirty Laundry does not follow its namesake; it has a clean, crisp and hip interior and a pretty nice patio area. We had an awesome waitress that was more than obliging when we asked to charge our phones and requested a wifi code. We decided to go with the Smashed Avo. Stellar choice; eggs were cooked perfectly, chilli oil and hummus were both a nice and subtle touch. We also had the breakfast tacos. The salsa that was on the side was so tasty; we were bummed when it was all gone! For drinks, we had an espresso and mimosa and there were no complaints there. Both drinks were fresh. We got away from Dirty Laundry with 3 entrees, an espresso and mimosa for close to $40 USD. Not too shabby! Please, if you are on a cruise stop and don't want to travel far from the pier, check this place out. Overall: 5 Venue: 5 Service: 5 Food: 5 Drinks: 5 Price: $$
