Caveat: My experience is limited to two visits. Dr. Rex is the veterinarian who performs spaying and neutering for the Devore Animal Shelter. The parking lot is small and there's a huge pothole in the middle of the lot, so be careful. We rescued a puppy from Devore and she was sent to Dr. Rex for spaying. She was spayed and ready for pickup on the same day. I paid for the spaying and a rabies shot ($39 total). An employee carried our groggy puppy to the car after handing me post-operative instructions. On our follow-up appointment, Dr. Rex removed our puppy's stitches and gave her a 7-in-1 shot. He has a very good bedside manner. I gave my experience 4 stars only because of the parking lot and the surrounding area. History: Dr. Rex opened his practice in San Bernardino in the 1980s when the area was thriving with Norton Air Force Base and Kaiser Steel in Fontana. Since then, the Base Line area around Dr. Rex's practice has deteriorated. read more

Dr. Rex did an amazing job with the ACL surgery for my chihuahua. He has 47 years of experience and he really tries to help the community out by offering fair prices. He treated us with respect and was friendly and open to answering all of our questions without seeming rushed. He definitely gets busy. Must call and make an appointment, as he's only available certain days. I believe Monday, Wednesday, Friday, so if you have an emergency, keep that in mind. But always call and double check. I'm not sure if he sticks to that schedule. Overall, I've referred other family members here because I had such a positive outcome with my little chihuahuas surgery! read more

This place is INSANE! If I could give it a 0 I would. I rescued a Great Pyrenees and the Devore animal shelter sent him here to get fixed. When we went to pick him up he was really out of it and couldn't walk so the lady who was working the from grabbed his front legs and DRUG HIM ACTOSS THE DITY FLOOR ON HIS INCISION! He also had pooped himself and it was smashed all on his back side. They tired to say he came like that but it was fresh poop. They gave us 0 post op care. No instructions, no meds, no cone. They also used staples that need to be removed AND SAID NOTHING ABOUT IT! We had made an appointment with our personal vet and found out. If I knew our boy was going here we would have NEVER agreed to it. read more

Dr Rex has been taking care of these fur babies for at least 15 years. I've also had a few cats that were under Dr Rex's care. He has always been kind and very caring. I trust him. It always was a comfortable atmosphere in his office. Will continue to use his services in the future for as long as possible. read more

Funny how everyone says this Vet is so amazing yet we had a totally different experience... we took our dog to get fixed and she came out with a wrap around the area on her stomach that was stitched up . As soon as we got home we noticed the medical wrap was tight so we took it off to find tissue hanging out of her body that was not stitched at at all! My wife had to take her immediately at night time to find a 24hr vet which was off of Arlington in riverside to correctly do that this quack job Rex couldn't do initially which then cost us a additional $1100. So glad the people who gave him a decent review and had a ok experience with this vet didnhave to go through what our poor dog had to go through. But we DO NOT Recommend this Vet and suggest you keep on looking for a better veterinarian to take your animal to. read more

Customer service is awful. I tried getting ahold of the office for a recheck appointment for my puppy I got from the pound that was sick. We were told to call back about getting our puppy fixed... the phone has been busy. I finally got threw and then was left on hold for almost 30 minutes and then hung up on. Went for a dental cleaning for my small pup. Drop off time was 10:15. We couldn't pick her up until 5:30pm. She sat in a cage scared all day and when my husband went to check on her at 5pm the dr was outside smoking saying he will get to her next. THEN they charged us 390.00!!! That was the office visit, blood work which they didn't do and teeth cleaning. Never going back there again!! read more

An unassuming vet office, but inside the place was neat, clean, and the staff very forthcoming, friendly, and efficient. I took my dachshund mix for teeth cleaning and I appreciated the 10 am dropoff which gave us time to drive from Western Riverside. From repeat customers coming in for basic pet care it was obvious this office was respected and appreciated and that the animals brought there were taken care of with high standards. The price was reasonable compared to my other local vets and I left feeling that my pet had had needed dental treatment, with knowledgeable caring professionals. read more

Awful service. my Kitten was sent here to get spayed from an animal shelter and they did a poor job, ended up coming undone and she was rushed to an emergency vet. Costed us 1.3k, her insides were coming out. It was horrible and very stressful. We also had to drive over an hour 8 times to help fix her. When we picked her up from Dr.Rex they sent her without a cone or meds and she was also out of surgery for only 30 MINUTES!! It was so scary seeing her all drugged up. She couldn't walk, was crossed eyed, and panting. He refused to reimburse us our 1.3k vet bill for his mess up and even laughed about it. He shows no remorse and empathy. Nearly killed my dog. I would not ever recommend this veterinarian to a friend or a foe. I would not give any stars if I had the choice. On August 04, 2016 I took my Australian Shepherd Mix to Dr. Rex to get neutered. The procedure was to cost me $130. The reason I took my dog to Dr. Rex was because my brother had just recently had his Pit Bull spayed there and everything went well. My first red flag was that I was made to sign a waiver basically stating that if any complications were to arise prior to, during, or after the operation neither Dr. Rex nor any of his employees or affiliates would be held accountable. I dropped my dog off at 10 am and was picking him up by 3:30 pm. When I picked him up he was still a little wobbly and coming off of the anesthesia--so I had no concerns, minus the fact that he didn't have "the cone of shame" on him. When I got him home, I saw that his scrotal sac still looked like it contained a testicle and that blood was coming from my dog's incision area. I kept my dog from licking, gnawing, or even coming remotely close to the area as to not make it worse. A few hours passed and he still had not eaten and had drank very little water, which is expected but assumed to increase as time went on. Unfortunately, that was not the case. My dog got worse. Let me preface by saying my dog may possibly be the most active dog in the world. Even under the anesthesia he was moving around a lot, however, at about 5 pm I noticed that he slowed down significantly and he was laying in spots that would keep him warm, which is not normal for him being he is a "hot dog" and we don't have A/C. At around 6:30, I took him outside where he lied down. He didn't want to get back up, and when he did, he almost collapsed... About three times. That's when I decided to look at his gums--they were completely white. I am talking white like paper. He was fading and fast. When my mom got home she looked at them, told me to call the Emergency Pet Hospital of Redlands. They told me to rush him over and that I would be pushed to the front of the time because he was in critical condition. He almost didn't make it to the hospital--that's how shallow his breathing was and how unresponsive he became. Come to find out Dr. Rex had neither properly nor effectively tied-off either the spermatic cords and my dog was hemorrhaging. He almost died. Dr. Joo at the Emergency Pet Hospital performed the surgery to correct Dr. Rex's mistake and said that when she opened my dog back up there was so much blood so had trouble finding the vessels that needed to be tied off. My dog is still in critical condition and is not out of the clear yet and it's been over 24-hours. When I looked at Dr. Rex's record of my dog and the surgery, he said the post-op looked normal... What should have been an $130 castration turned into $2630 four-hour lifesaving operation. I went back to Dr. Rex with the report from the Emergency Pet hospital and all he said to me was, "This has never happened to me and I've been doing this since '78" and "There's nothing I can do" and "We get referrals from out of state to have surgeries here." When he apologized, it didn't sound sincere or genuine at all. He did not even state that there was a possibility of him having made a mistake. Perhaps I caught him on a bad day, but I was not fortunate enough to witness the "compassionate", "empathetic", and "sympathetic" veterinarian that everyone else has reviewed. I found him to be cold, unconcerned, and negligent. I understand that accidents happen, but this to me seemed to show Dr. Rex's true character and needless to say, I am not impressed. read more

This was our first trip to see Dr. Rex. He removed a large tumor attached to my dog's undescended testicle, neutered him, cleaned his teeth and extracted 5 of them. The total bill was $400.00 and included the antibiotics they sent home for Oskar. My old vet wanted over 800.00 to neuter Oskar and do the dental work. The office staff were friendly, the office smelled clean, Dr. Rex was gentle with my boy and all in all this was a good experience. The Duggin family pets have a new vet. Rex is such an honest vet, i drive from Redlands to bring my two dogs here. Ive brought them in from them having bee stings to, a wart to shots.. i mean literally everything! The prices are really fair and he never tries to sell things that are not needed. You can really see the love he has for animal and thats why i keep coming here. The clinic is really small and theres a grooming place right behind. He gets pretty busy when hes open w/ no appoint. Always try my best to be the first! read more

I took my 7 year old Mini Shnauzer in today with emergency bladder stones clogged urethra surgery. Mozart was in escrutiating pain and could not urinate and was getting toxic from urine. Dr Rex saved my Mozies life as it was life threatening he is doing well 4 hours out of surgery. Also charged me 1/4 of what last night emergency doctor wanted to charge me. My new Vet!! I'm so happy I felt like my world was collapsing last night! Praise God! read more
