This streamlining for me is coupled with the extremely generous amount of time that doctors spend during appointments. I feel that the concierge practice model has provided care far exceeding what my old local medical practice had become after losing a few key physicians through retirement. I'm not sure if they are accepting new patients, but if Lifetime Internal Medicine is, I highly advise trying this 'small' team concierge solution as a return to times when medicine was practiced by Doctors instead of Doctors applying a one-size-fits-all template strategy for the codified roll-out of big-med:-)

Mind you, the whole time their was bad communication and the nurse was never timely, and the Dr. never called me once! Then they finally refered me to a pain management clinic the one good thing they did. However, I still had an appointment with them the following week. After I did not show up, bc i thought that I was seeing the pain dr. only from then on, the nurse called me and said, 'well maybe sinc you didnt show up we won't authorize the referall for the pain clinic for your insurance.' This was a threat, and it dealt directly with my health. Do not go here, Warning.

I moved to the DC area in 1994 and it took a good deal of trial, error and sleuthing to find a good primary care physician. Oh boy. And patience, as Dr. Leonard is so beloved by his patients, he does not always have availability. He has been the recipient of the Washingtonian Magazines "Best Physicians of the Washington DC Area" for several years. Nowadays, it is really hard to find a physician who can, and will, take time with a patient. (I don't blame the physicians, its the situation for the rare independent practice). But Dr. Leonard DOES. It is apparent that he loves interacting with his patients, loves medicine, puts the patient first. Another thing: Dr. Leonard has consistently given me great recommendations when I needed to visit a specialist. Dr. Leonard's office, from an administrative perspective, has had its ups and downs over the years. But the caliber of his care is such that I always waded through. But this is the reality of the private practice business model--ITS STRESSED RIGHT NOW. But I have to say that Family Practice is extremely efficient now that it has moved to a blend of concierge with open private practice partners. I could not recommend Dr. Leonard more highly.

What happens is that the doctor would ask you a few questions about your health, for example if you have sleep problems. Once you say that you don't sleep well, he would offer to prescribe sleeping pills. Later they send you a bill for the office visit even though you only came for the covered annual physical. I was told by their billing person that a doctor is supposed to inform a patient about additional charges if a doctor discusses other health issues. Dr. Greene never warns a patient. I find this dishonest. Also, some employees, like Mary (who refused to provide her last name) are very rude. I suggest people stay away from this doctor's office.

From start to finish, the level of unprofessionalism, disorganization, and outright hostility was beyond anything I have ever encountered in a medical setting. First, the front desk lost my referral. I later received an unexpected text about a $250 deductible, which I do not have to pay under my insurance plan. In an attempt to understand this text I called the front desk where they proceeded to hang up on me three times. Red flag after red flag. When I arrived for my daughter's allergy testing, we were forced to wait over an hour. When she finally came in, instead of focusing on my daughter's allergy concerns, she immediately wanted to discuss the complaints I had about her office. Mind you, by this point, I had already been waiting for an hour and 15 minutes. She outright refused to see my child unless I first told her how she could improve her business practices. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate. I insisted that the medical appointment be focused on my daughter and her needs. However, the doctor disagreed and continued to argue. Then, she actually refused to see my child, so I decided to collect my daughter's paperwork and that's when things escalated from her end. This is where my 15 years old daughter decided to intervene. My daughter told her how unprofessional she was behaving. Instead of regaining her composure, Dr. Ispas started yelling at my daughter too. At that point, I had to tell her to breathe and stop interrupting. I gave her two clear options: 1. Test my daughter, and afterward, I'd privately explain the issues I had with her office. 2. Refuse to see my child, and I would leave an honest review online. She made her choice. Upon exiting the lobby of her office Dr. Ispas started following us out into the hallway as she continued to yell. My daughter actually shut the door to her office upon exiting, but that didn't stop her--she opened it right back up and followed us down the hallway to the exit, only stopping when she realized my daughter was recording the entire thing. This experience was beyond unprofessional--it was downright hostile. No patient, especially a child, should ever be treated this way. If you are considering this office, run in the opposite direction. There are plenty of other allergy specialists in the area who actually respect their patients and their time.

After the second surgery by a neurosurgeon, he was in severe pain and unable to sit or stand for more than two minutes. His spine had 14 screws and two long rods. Four months after the second surgery we decided to get a second opinion and his pain doctor referred us to Dr. Shasti. Our experience with Dr. Shasti and his staff has been AMAZING from the day one. He has a very competent, efficient and friendly people working with him. From his personality to his professionalism he is UNMATCHED by any medical professional we've encountered to this date. After he reviewed my husband's MRI, surgery was scheduled within seven working days. Surgery took about nine and a half hours total. After the surgery, Dr. Shasti visited my husband four times and called to update me several times. He personally came and helped my husband to take his first steps. What I loved was, I could communicate with him directly. His talent as a surgeon is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and his personality, attention to detail and sense of humor is the cherry on top. My family has been seeing Dr. Eisenbaum for about 20 years now. A very nice guy who takes his time…read moreand seems interested in people. Wait times are reasonable, and the rest of the staff is ok. Also, a few years ago Dr. Eisenbaum diagnosed my mom's best friend with thyroid cancer during a routine physical. She then went to a top thyroid cancer specialist at Johns Hopkins who said that he would not have caught the cancer because there were little to no visible symptoms. It ended up being Anaplastic Thyroid cancer, which is the most rare and serious type, with horrible survival rates. But because it was caught so early thanks to Dr. Eisenbaum, it was successfully removed and my mom's friend is doing well.
