New patient here (former) How does it take 3 weeks to have someone call about lab results? When asked how long the lab results take to come back, the doctor stated, oh, only a few days, I'm just soo busy. To then call, and someone in the office says the doctor is very behind. Then why take new patients? I Called the office and asked how much longer before the doctor was planning to call me about the results, answer? Later this week. Call finally came in today and it wasn't even the doctor! No options, no request for a second visit to discuss. Just straight to the medicine. No thanks. These things are scary for people and to just have disregard because they're too busy? There are plenty of better doctors and practices. If attention to detail from a medical professional is what you are looking for, go elsewhere. read more

It's wild and shocking for me to see reviews from 12 years back about this facility and there has nothing changed or they even slightly tried. Please avoid this place if you can. Same front desk staff rudeness, lab work will not be submitted on proper time and sure is you will be waiting at least an hour on waiting room for your ill manner doctors and you will not get any apologies in return.Please avoid at all costs and find someone who are responsible and show some professionalism and respects. Pros: nice office, convenient, was able to get an appointment relatively quickly when I had a concern. Cons: not really worth my time. Doctor blew off my concerns completely, didn't even have a conversation about what the symptoms could mean and said "let's do blood work" and walked out. I wasn't even sure the appointment was over. Took almost 2 weeks and a call to the office to even hear back on doctor's interpretation on the blood work (even though I know the blood work itself only took 48 hours since I got an email from the lab) and it was a nurse that said "the doctor said see a specialist." I switched to Heritage from a much larger practice because I desired to have a nice family doctor to go to that I could develop a connection with when I had concerns. Heritage (and the specific doctor I saw) came very highly recommended and after an unimpressive physical there and this latest appointment when I felt blown off, I will be looking elsewhere. read more

I called yesterday for a follow up appointment to recheck bloodwork. When I asked the receptionist if doctors are still masking she was so rude and dismissive that I hung up. Apparently, the providers at Heritage only care about protecting their own health and the health of their patients if it's federally mandated. If you're COVID conscious, please avoid this practice because they don't care one bit if you live or die. read more

They're actually seeing new patients! I have been waiting for my original Doctor to have appointments and he isn't so I needed a new doctor ASAP and I have hit numerous road blocks- with the local Doctor's offices stating one online and then calling to find out they're not accepting or seeing new patients. I almost lost hope and then Looked outside my general area and near my Nutritionist was this Doctor's office. It's a month and half out for my physical but at least I have a new spot. My husband and I see Dr. Conklin here as our PCP and we are very happy with him as our doctor, so much so that I ended up transferring our kids here from their pediatrician. Dr. Conklin takes the time to go through everything with you, and you feel like you have his full attention. He lets you explain what's going on and asks thoughtful questions, and he gives you the time to ask questions of your own. At the pediatricians' office the visits always felt rushed (after you'd first been made to wait ages), the doctor would zoom in and out again within minutes and it was all at such intense speed that most of the time you'd remember the questions you had wanted to ask far too late. When needed, I've always been able to make same-day appointments for sick kids, and we've often seen Jean Cox on those days whom I've also had good experiences with. She's been great with my rambunctious 4-year-old son, who likes her a lot and is amazingly cooperative with her. Usually the waits are short, and the nurses are very friendly. If there's anything to comment on, it's that the receptionist comes across a bit curt, but that's a minor quibble. read more

I was a patient of Heritage for more than 10 years. But I am going to look for a new doc. Since Dr. Overton passed, there has been a decline in service, and the office has a weird feel to it. No one is caring, patient-oriented, or professional. I was left in a room for 40 minutes when no one else seemed to be there. Also, it took me months to get a routine physical. And that was really the last straw. It makes me sad. read more

I can't say enough good things about this practice. The hours are great offering early mornings, late nights and weekends. I have seen both physicians and NPs and every one is highly competent, caring and thorough. They have accurately diagnosed me every time and gotten me the care I need. Their bedside manner and concern for the patient is top notch. During my most recent call on a weekend, I was able to get an immediate response and received a follow up call to see how I was feeling afterwards a few days later. Still one star. Every. Time. I. Call. The receptionist is very rude and short with you. Why does she even work in a position like this. My advice to you, QUIT! And never work with people again. We get it, you hate life and people. So go work in a back room by yourself with no human interaction. Talk about a poor career choice. No changes since my last review so they obviously don't care. The same problems and issues. The only person that was nice was the nurse and my doctor. But it's been 9 days and I still haven't gotten my test results so I have to call asking for them. Phlebotomist needs to be re-trained. Her method was by far the most painful I've ever experienced with getting blood drawn and I have to get mine done at least every 6 months (I don't go to her). Pain shot through my arm and made that hand sweat. It was so painful the entire blood draw and days later. Get the order and go to another phlebotomist. Just tired of this office and the crappy people that they employ. Your front staff and other staff make a difference in the happiness of your patients. It's a total package. Failure to pay attention to patient concerns, provide proper orders for blood work, to provide accurate results, and relay medications properly. Multiple staff members especially the receptionist is incredibly rude and talks about other patients within ear shot of people in the waiting room. They are not proactive on providing results of blood work or even keeping the patient up to date on waiting on results from LabCorp. ​ read more

I have been going to Heritage Family Practice for over 10 years. I have been seeing Nurse Practitioner Cox and Dr. Lee for a majority of that time. She has treated me for a number of issues and injuries. Their friendliness and thoroughness really made me feel better and reassured in a time of need. Recently, while on vacation, Dr. Lee took my call early on Saturday morning and helped me refill a prescription for a vital medication that I had left in our hotel. The great team of medical professionals at Heritage Family Practice really went above the call of duty to help me out. They really are a great service and life savers. My experience with this practice has not been good. The front desk is rude and finds every chance they can to get off the phone with you.

I've been going to this place for over 8 years now, basically because they were close to my office--no other reason. Overall, they have been serviceable, but not once did they do anything more than average-to-below-average, ever. The few doctors I've seen there have been fine, nothing spectacular. They usually route through the musical chair of doctors, and you get to see whatever doctor is free. Or at least that's how they treated me, because I haven't really dictated one of them as "my doctor." So, you wait in a bleh and rather old dingy waiting room, talk to whatever doctor you are assigned to, get some ho-hum medical advice, maybe get a prescription, and then pay your copay and move along with your day. Lately, I've been seeing Dr. Hussney, though, who has been great. Here comes a complaint: very recently, I want to say in the last month or two, they have replaced all the nice, younger front desk staff with a grouchy, mean old woman. I went there a few weeks ago with my girlfriend who was in great pain, and the old woman barked at us for not having an appointment and turned us away! There was nobody, I mean, NOBODY in the waiting room. And even if they were busy, sheesh, have some manners! Then, a few days ago I went to get a follow up for an immunization shot. It was the 3rd of 3 shots, and I was told during my 2nd shot that I would have no copay for the 2nd and 3rd shots, as they are follow up. When I arrive, the old grump woman growled at me for being a few minutes late. OK, whatever. Then, when I was finally done with the visit which should have taken 30 seconds but instead took an hour, the old grouch charged me a $20 fee, which I mindlessly paid in haste. Grr. Today, I log into my Healthcare Provider's website to check out the details of my visit. The old hag had the nerve to submit a full claim and state that I paid $0 copay for my visit! $0?!?! That's not what my credit card statement says! I'm so mad! I'm printing out all the information I can gather, and I'm going back there to talk to the grumpy old woman tomorrow for a refund. I wish myself luck. I think it's time to find a new doctor. read more

I love this practice! I have been going here for decades. They have such caring and talented doctors and providers. They are very conveniently located and have amazing office hours. I've had to call after-hours on occasion and have always gotten a timely callback and treatment. The nurses and techs are also very kind. I've been going to this practice for several yearrs and they are the absolute best practice I've ever been to. Jean Cox is amazing and has gone over and above standard care to do research and help me find specialists and information when I've needed it. Jean Cox, NP is fabulous! She truly listens and is very thorough. Jean has cared for my whole family for years. I recently remarried and my husband transferred his care to her. On their first visit, Jean spotted melanoma that his previous MD never noticed. Needless to say, we trust her entirely. Jean's medical assistant, Sherrie, is lovely - very personable, friendly and compassionate. The front office staff is also wonderful. I highly recommend this practice. read more

I've been here just once. Had appointment, almost no wait time. I had a fever and a cough. They did a flu swab , no flu thanks God! The doctor was very nice, but i felt like she was in rush a little. They prescribed antibiotics, that was it, nothing to treat my horrible cough. Unfortunately after two days of taking antibiotics there was no improvements, i just felt worse, my fever went up to 103.5, so the next day i went to another doctor who prescribed different antibiotics and cough medicine. Overall, the doctor was nice , stuff friendly, almost no waiting time, but they didnt help me this time. read more

I've also had positive experiences with the other nurse practitioner I was nervous to see one of the doctors there but didn't have a choice today. I ended up seeing Dr. Conklin and was very pleased. He wasn't rushed or rude like doctors can sometimes be. He was warm, thoughtful and took time to understand my problem and was clear about next steps. A very positive experience! Dr. Conklin is the best. I usually go to female physicians but on a whim I booked an appointment with him. A few years later, even after I moved half an hour away, I still use Dr. Conklin as my doctor. He is very personable and kind. He doesn't have a superiority complex and has a conversation with you on the same level. He has never rushed and always asks thorough questions. I highly recommend him! read more

Unfortunately Dr. Lee was pushing various pills on me and never really diagnosed my digestive issues that were triggered by a pancreas that was digesting itself. She thought my 3 tumor markers which were elevated were from ovarian cancer, but never referred me out to an oncologist. She had question marks all over my chart, tested me for a very rare disease of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, but never looked at my pancreas after I had a serious, near deadly attack of pancreatitis preceding my seeing her for the first time. That undiagnosed acute pancreatitis lead to my pancreatic cancer or it was at the time pancreatic cancer. She never did proper testing or follow up. I gave up on medicine after three years with her. Then I found the truth in an emergency room years later in the state of California. I may not live much longer as have been through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation and still fighting pancreatic cancer. Doctors like Dr. Lee need to go back to school. read more

I went to Heritage Family Practice to get a better understanding of how to handle a sports injury earlier this week. I was seen within 20 minutes of arriving. The nurse who took my vitals was very friendly and professional. Truth be told, I felt a little guilty for seeing a doctor. I consider my issue minor but after trying to treat it with several alternative therapies (i.e. massage, yoga) it wasn't getting any better. Dr. Lee put my nerves at ease. She didn't seem at all concerned that I had made an appointment (for something I would consider minor). Dr. Lee explained that Heritage treats everything from sports injuries to warts. She explained that it is always a good idea to see a medical professional when pain associated with a physical activity has not gotten any better over an extended period of time. I was also very impressed that when Dr. Lee left (after we were done with the examination) to write a prescription, that she came back with a copied page of information on the condition. The page included an explanation of my issue and how best to treat it. In contrast to places like Patient First, it appeared that Heritage Family Practice does not have the ability to get your prescription(s) filled at the Doctor's office. Please be aware, that Google maps is not great in directing you to the medical building. I ended up parking in an adjacent lot to the medical building; and, when I walked back to my car I was still slightly confused on how to get into the parking lot associated for the medical building. In a nutshell, this is professional medical office and best for non-life threatening conditions. read more

I rarely write reviews on Yelp. But I am compelled to leave a glowing review after a positive experience with Dr. Lee. She is the most thorough doctor I've ever been to. I was taken aback by her level of thoroughness, making me wonder why all the other doctors I have had in the past were nowhere near this thorough. I really like her inquisitiveness. I could see she was "thinking" when I described my symptoms, instead of this dismissive or nonchalant attitude I've experienced with other doctors. I even appreciated the critical look she gave me when I told her some of my lifestyle choices. She was efficient yet very good with her explanations. One thing I do not have kind words for is the nurse who drew my blood. My god it was painful. But I will go back here as long as Dr. Lee is around. read more

I just moved to the area so I'm new to this doctors office. I really really really like their unusually convenient hours for a doctors office. I don't have them memorized or nothing, but I believe they are open late on weeknight and are available on Saturday's so that's great. On the down side... I know this is controversial but I am prescribed to medication for ADHD and have been for about 8 years now. I understand the processes and procedures that go along with being prescribed to a controlled substance and I do not abuse my medication. I am a 27 year old woman. I have a few facial piercing and a couple visible tattoos. I also just graduated college not long ago, got engaged and work full time as a graphic designer. I'm a little eccentric but I'm not a drug abuser and I'd appreciate not being treated like one on my future visits. Thanks so much! read more

I recently moved into the area and was in need of a Primary Care Physician (PCP). As I always do, I turned to Yelp (I'm happy that the reviews on YELP are sincere and from "real" people!). I chose Heritage based on Yelp reviews. It is easy getting an appointment.....even a same-day appointment was no issue when I had a horrible cold. I have been seeing Dr. LEE.....she is always on-time!! (I love that!). I had to have some blood tests done. Heritage draws blood on-site......Yeah, no going to an additional Lab/Location. Due to my first career, I have a very extensive 'medical' background & education; so, I am always critical of fellow health care professionals........so far, I have nothing to be critical about!! I'm fortunate that my health insurance does not require "pre-authorization" for Specialists and some of my medical aliments require medical Specialists. I asked the 'triage' nurse/tech who I should go to. I can honestly say, "I am Very happy with her suggestions." read more

Over the past 5 years or so I've been to two of the doctors here, Dr. Overton and Dr. Pipan. I found both of them to be great doctors. From vaccinations for travel to poison ivy to yearly physicals to women's checkups (which you can book along with your physical) they have taken great care of me. Had a scare this past fall where they were going to drop my insurance company (United Healthcare) but apparently enough of their patients complained to United that something was worked out. That has to say something. You may find that a routine checkup might take a couple weeks to schedule however, if you're actually sick or have an emergency, they'll get you in quite quickly. When I got poison ivy IN MY EYE (sorry), they squeezed me in same day. The only reason I don't give them five stars is that their office space is pretty dated. But hey, the waiting room is painted like an undersea fantasy world so at least the kids will appreciate the decor! read more

Sad to hear Dr. Overton isn't at the practice any longer. I've been with him for 7 years when I first saw him listed on Washingtonian's Top Doctors list.
