The estimate was fair, but then I saw the work they were doing. They were cutting off the trees and weeds to the ground, leaving the roots in the soil. The contract said "remove trees and weeds". When I complained, he told me to poison it with RoundUp even though he claimed to be a "holistic" landscaper, and doesn't use RoundUp himself! I even offered him my tree puller, but he dismissed me and said, "This is the way we do it." My husband told me I shouldn't have paid them, but I was having a panic attack. It was about $3,000. I was going to take him to conciliation court, but I didn't want to relive the nightmare.

There were also lots of large tree branches in the yard, and one of the trees that hit the house partially buried (and crushed) my fiance's car. This all happened on a Friday night. Saturday morning, we started calling around to see about getting the tree off our kitchen and got in touch with Tim Morgan, an arborist who works with Timberline. He referred us to them and put in a call asking if they could help us out. Due to the extensive damage we had (and the fact that our yard/house looked, as Tim put it, "like an upside down jungle"), they were able to get a crew with a crane over in about an hour and a half, despite their very, very busy schedule (it was a bad storm, and we weren't the only people who needed their services). These people were AMAZING. They went straight to work and didn't stop moving/working until about four and a half hours later, at which point the "jungle" had been reduced to a large pile of mulch (which we asked them to leave so we could use it for landscaping - ordinarily they would have carted this away, so it's not their common practice to leave it) and some large tree trunks piled neatly in the street for removal by the city. All of the people working on the project were super-nice and friendly. We were incredibly grateful to them for their fast, professional service, and would recommend them to anyone who needs tree removal done fast and well.

When they finally showed up 3 hours later than they said, their employees were obviously hungover and extremely rude to me. The service was shoddy at best. When I asked him to come back to finish the job, he told me to do it myself! I ended up often paying more than the price he quoted me, and even then, I didn't get what I paid for.
