There is quite a few bakeries in thorne and many of them are practically next door to each other,when I moved into thorne last year,more than one local informed me that rhodes was the better shop,this opinion was also backed up by the fact the shop is always busy,The only bad point is that there is usually a long que,so if you are in a mega hurry i would advise you to use one of the many others,otherwise I would highly recommend this shop,the staff are pleasant and the food is very fresh and and good quality read more

Terrible Bakers My wife tends to go in most week ends for a assortment of things, but after this week end it wont be happening again. She bought whats called I think an Elephants Foot fresh cream cake, it certainly wasn't fresh and had me vomiting for most of the night, this certainly doesn't help when I already have a Hiatus Hernia, and if this bursts it could kill me. The cream was clearly off and it certainly smelled it was. I am not in the best of health and currently prescribed 40 tablets a day. How on earth this Bakers can sell stuff like this is beyond me and I would've honestly thought that they should have a QC Dept in shop to check products. What surprises me is that Environmental Health don't do spot checks on premises like this, ie being proactive instead of reactive, when something like this happens. I will leave people to make there own minds up, but just because the shop is packed, doesn't give them the right to cut down on health practises. read more
