The store is packed with any genre of sheet music and books (and TAB form) for every instrument you can imagine (banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, vocals, guitar, piano, brass instruments, woodwinds, etc all of them). They sell accessories such as guitar strings, tuners, straps, picks, music stands, and some acoustic guitars and banjos as well. Vinyl records and small musical gifts line the walls, it's so fun to explore and each time you visit you'll find something new, as there's so much selection. If there is something they don't have in stock, they will order it for you. The vibe is very relaxed and they are never pushy, you can look around for 30 min alone exploring if you want and just ask if you need anything. Love this place and can't recommend it enough, it's also a vintage store with history dating back to the 1950's so it has such cute charm and decor, it's an experience that online shopping can't give. We had three choices and price points, and I selected the "student" one which was the least expensive, and wow, this instrument sounds so much better and is in great shape! We were in and out of the shop in 20 minutes. The salesperson helping us was knowledgeable and friendly and we were able to find the accessories we needed as well (shoulder rest sponge and rosin). She's been playing it for 3 months with no issues and it doesn't go out of tune quickly like her cheap one. Billing is automatic and easy, with no mistakes. Such a great experience - we'll definitely be back when it's time to upgrade to the next one!

I'm a professional guitar player around the Phoenix area- I constantly buy and sell high end guitars and have been to many of the nicest guitars shops in the world. I've toured the Country going to guitar shops. If I'm not allowed to pick up a guitar- Say even a cheap mid-line workhouse style guitar like a red Epiphone Firebird; Then it should be excplitly explained by staff upon greeting customers at he door. If your business model is to turn away customers that you don't think will buy a real guitar, then just politely ask. It's not that difficult, and as a professional customer I would clearly understand. I have never seen an establishment so good at making customers feel unwanted and uncomfortable- Ever. Not to mention I did walk in with a very healthy budget in mind, and was seriously considering a new guitar that I could use.

Probably because he was getting paid x dollars an hour either way. Meeting and having work done by Ted was exactly the opposite experience. He took the time to explain what he was going to do (or not do if not needed). After it was done he explained what my guitar could still use, and what I personally could do with brief instructions on how to do it... I can promise you the guitar center tech guys wont tell you how to save money like that. Hell, they were trying to convince me that nylon strings were too hard for me to string up lol. (true story) I could go on and on, I brought in a dirty guitar that had been sitting in a closet for years, and picked up a nice shiny guitar even after I told him not to worry about cleaning it up. Especially since the job I had him do was so small. If you are looking for somewhere friendly and affordable to have your guitar/bass worked on.... you found it. The clothes and tchotchkes are well-organized and fun to go through, and there is a lot to look at even though the store looks tiny from the front. Size range is good too - I'm L/XL and there were plenty of choices. Things were in great condition overall and less worn than chain thrift stores. My kid found a great blouse and a skirt, and I know we'll be back!
