This review is long overdue. When gearing up to sell our house last year, we needed floors fixed, refinished and stained to a different color to match the kitchen floors. Carlos and team were quick to give a quote, were very transparent about what work needed to be done, and pointed out things that we had not considered in the process. The process took several days. We requested additional work be done midway, and a revised quote was delivered quickly, with work scheduled simultaneously with the existing project. I contacted Carlos to get a quote for floor refinishing services 2 weeks before moving into my new home. He spent 20 minutes walking through the space, taking measurements, and looking at the floors. I was given a competitive quote and scheduled promptly. Things went downhill from here. First, he didn't arrive on the scheduled day and gave no updates until I contacted him. Then when he finally did show up, he doubled his pricing from what he originally quoted after walking through the space with me. When asked why this new estimate was so different from the original quote, he responded there was extra work, but he knew I could pay, "because you're a doctor." This had never come up during our previous conversations, so the only way for him to know my background is through his own research. He then tried to get more money out of me after finding out my profession. I immediately canceled my project and asked for a refund, which he thankfully gave. I went to another contractor who had originally quoted a couple hundred dollars more. The new contractor did a great job without needing to do the "extra work" that Carlos claimed was necessary, and didn't try to jack it up at the last minute. At the end of the day, if you are looking for an honest contractor who sticks to their quoted price and doesn't try to squeeze more money out of you because of the neighborhood you live in, your profession, or the car you drive, look somewhere else. read more
