Also known as the Torre Blava, this distinctive local landmark and protected historic monument on the seafront of Vilanova was originally constructed in 1874, during the 3rd Carlist wars, as a look-out and defensive tower.
Between 1912 and 1953 it was a bar - 'La Pergola' - with, appropriately enough, a large, conical wooden balcony and roof added on the upper stories.
It is now a small art gallery of the contemporary artist, Josep Guinovart, whose works are inspired by the maritime environment. Entry is EUR1.35, or EUR3 with a guided commentary. The descriptions of the works are in Catalan only. From the roof, you get a splendid view of the seafront area. read more
