Those that not only has setup their 20 people Julius Caesar tents but also invited an army of people to their intimate loud music playing party. FYI, others may not enjoy your brand of metal rap. Or those that bring their Canadian Tire little power boats and pumps. For reasons unbeknownst to me, does being on beach equal to doing whatever you want? Social etiquette is shed with the clothes. So, simply reviewing this, may adulterate this pristine little sandy beach and lake into that monstrosity. It is a good kept secret. Beautiful clean water and beach. Not a lot of nutters yet.

The shops around the area are small boutiques stores and all of them excell in what they serve. Food, ice cream , cloths and everything in between is sold in these shops. There is kayak and boat rental as well . Once I tried kayaking which can be scary for people who try for the first time but it's worth the adrenaline rush. I like this place even with the hustle and bustle of friends and family on a weekend.

We went on a Friday and it was pretty busy but we arrived around 11am and there were still a couple of parking spots available in the various small lots around the park. There is a snow chalet type building near the trail head & suspension bridge that has restrooms on the outside and some snacks and ice cream on the inside. We took the Twin Falls loop trail and went in the direction that started with the suspension bridge first and it was a lot more stairs and steeper than we anticipated. The hike back up from near the creek at the bottom had us sweaty and huffing and puffing as middle-aged parents. haha! But the trees and foliage was beautiful and we even saw a banana slug! We were cursing the 20 flights of stairs up and down but afterwards, we felt good.

We originally went to see their famous…read moresuspension bridge but a few wrong turns at the trails and we ended up seeing much more, including the 30-Ft Pool, Pipeline Bridge, and Rice Lake. The trails are defined (though some were closed when we visited) and for the majority, are very walkable save a couple of areas with lots of stairs. Lynn Canyon Park is deceptively massive and offers a bit of everything to everyone-- if you are looking for tranquility, I'd recommend the northern trails and if you are looking for family-friendly hikes, I'd recommend the pool as it seems like a popular place for a dip. Parking during peak season can be a little tricky, especially later during the day. We ended up circling around before finding a spot and it costs $3/hr. My only complaint is that the park lacks adequate signage and maps, which contributed to our getting lost for a few hours. The bad part is that it's required and they won't let you into the area without it. It was free but had a time restriction.

Belcarra Regional Park (now re-named to acknowledge the Tsleil-Waututh peoples*) is a 1,100-hectare…read moreregional park. It is an extremely popular regional park with beaches, picnic areas, a lake, and numerous hiking trails of various difficulty levels. There is something for everyone at the park, including decent washrooms. The various trails within the park are: Bedwell Bay Trail, Woodhaven Swamp Loop Trail and Woodhaven Trail, Sasamat Lake Loop Trail, Springboard Trail, Admiralty Point Trail, Jug Island Beach Trail, Sugar Mountain Trail, and Buntzen Ridge Trail (and the nearby Buntzen Lake and Diez Vistas trails). Until recently, I had only hiked the Jug Island and Admiralty Point trails (both excellent, easy to intermediate hikes), and on Sunday I had planned to hike around the Woodhaven Swamp Loop, continue along the Woodhaven Trail to Sasamat Lake, and around the lake with my hiking group. Unfortunately due to a recent windstorm, the Woodhaven Trail leading to Sasamat Lake was closed, but we still enjoyed the lovely hike along the Springboard Trail and around the swamp. It was a very easy hike (pretty much a walk), but the trails were beautiful, and being the off-season, very peaceful. I love Belcarra Regional Park and would like to eventually hike all the trails, as well as re-hike the ones I have already done. Unfortunately it is quite difficult to get there by transit, although it is technically possible -- the #182 bus runs from Moody Centre Station to the park, but it only runs once an hour. During the summer months, the #150 runs to White Pine Beach and the #179 runs to Buntzen Lake (I don't recall if it is once an hour or every half an hour). So because transit is so lousy, most people drive, but parking is very limited -- good luck finding parking after 8am on a weekend during the non-winter months! IDEA: to alleviate the parking issue, have transit run more than once an hour! Despite the horrible transit to the park, at least it is technically possible to get there by bus, and with my hiking group (which focuses on transit accessible hikes), I will definitely be going back to Belcarra. *I cannot include the name in my review as Yelp does not recognize Indigenous script. Last year I discovered a hiking group that hikes in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR)…read moreevery Monday morning for a couple of hours. Due to my school, I was only able to go on one hike with them last year as I found the group just before the fall semester started, but this year I've gone on half a dozen hikes with them and look forward to many more. There are 65km of hiking trails in the LSCR, ranging from easy (such as the Rice Lake Loop) to challenging, for more experienced hikers. There are several intermediate trails, including a portion of the Baden Powell trail, and with all the different trails, it is a great area to explore and your hike can range from an easy one hour walk to a hike of several hours -- there's something for everyone. The LSCR is located between Lynn Headwaters Regional Park and Lynn Canyon Park, so you can combine a hike in the LSCR with a hike in Lynn Headwaters or Lynn Canyon for more variety. Another great thing about the LSCR is that it is transit accessible! You can take the #227 or #228 bus, or take the #210 bus to Lynn Headwaters and walk about ten to fifteen minutes to LSCR. Parking is available in the nice large lot next to the water treatment centre. There are public washrooms here as well. Some of the trails here seem to be more like service roads. Very well maintained. There are plenty of bear warning signs too. Guess somebody got eaten at one point. Plenty of fellow hikers and dogs here for bears to snack on. I remember always seeing other people at some point. In other words, the place is pretty crowded during the summer months. The trails go quite a ways from here. Hikes can go from minutes to hours or days, depending on what one is looking for.

after the crowds at english bay, lost lagoon feels like stepping into a completely different pace,…read morequieter, softer, and far more connected to nature. even with downtown in the distance, it fades into the background. the water is calm and reflective, mirroring the sky, trees, and fallen branches that stretch into the lagoon. everything feels a little wild in that very super natural british columbia way, not overly manicured, just stunning. there's a subtle sense that the lagoon is more than just scenery. it's part of a living system, a natural purification space supporting a surprising variety of birdlife. we saw baby goslings crossing our path, closely guarded by two very alert parents, moving like a tiny escorted procession. it's a place that makes me want to lower my voice and tip toe. the fountain was shut off due to water conservation, but honestly, it adds to the stillness. nothing disturbs the surface, and the quiet feels more complete because of it. it's also not overcrowded, which makes a huge difference. you hear birds, water, and your footsteps on the gravel (your shoes will get dusty), and you actually feel present. it's tranquil in a way that's hard to fake, a place where you slow down without realizing and feel properly in tune with nature.

I recently did the Pump Peak hike with my family and we had so much fun!…read more If you can, I recommend doing the hike during the week, it wasn't busy at all, which was ideal since you sometimes need to stop and let others pass when they're coming back down. This hike is definitely on the more challenging side. You don't need a lot of hiking experience to do it, but it might take you a bit longer since there are lots of rocks to climb over. Despite that, I think everyone should try this hike as the view at the top is absolutely gorgeous!

As I forgot some tools for snowy trails, it took longer. Trails looks so hard and secure but if your legs were 10cm outer from it, easily your leg would be stuck to knee depth. Very soft snow at side. Follow the orange coloured poles. To get to the peak, you need cross the line "no more poles, hike by own your responsibility".

LOVED THIS. It was…read morevery marshy and because it was the middle of the day we didn't see any beavers, but it's beautiful and a wonderful little walk. A tour guide mentioned the dam that the beavers were working on and the pile the humans made undoing all their hard work, a truly sisphiean task. However! The lotus flowers were in bloom and they looked so beautifully perfect, white ones and pink ones all over the water. There were a few ducks here and there. We saw a large slug somewhere along the way, and then eventually got to a section of the walk where there was a ton of croaking. Ten minutes of patient (and impatient) searching later, we found a bullfrog hiding in the water under the grass! So worth it. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend coming here. The hike in was also quite nice and cool, tree tops covering the sun.
