It was a long process to finally get to see him but once I was a patient, I thought he did his best to listen to what I wanted. He recommended breaking up the stones with sonic waves but because I would have to wait weeks for the equipment to be available and I was in a lot of pain, I requested surgical removal instead and he agreed. The process was horrible but I don't blame him for much of that. I was in a lot of pain. I thought he was efficient and professional for the most part but he did go on vacation when I was to have my stint removed, which caused me to almost have to go to the ER but because I was in such a precarious situation, my husband ended up having to remove the stint. That is definitely an experience we will never forget. I appreciated Dr. Yasar telling me my referral was good for three years as it gave me a sense of relief... unfortunately he seems to have left soon after and I will be back to square one if I have any more problems.

The scheduler, Debra, was consistently rude and dismissive during my interactions with her. I often felt belittled and uncomfortable when communicating with her, which added unnecessary stress during an already difficult time. In fact, I began bringing my husband to appointments so he could witness these interactions firsthand. My experience occurred some time ago, and I sincerely hope that patient interactions in the office have improved since then.I truly hope there is a new scheduling staff because nobody should be treated so unfairly and so disrespected during an office visit. Dr.Akary's excellent care is the reason I am still leaving a positive review, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone seeking a skilled and compassionate surgeon. I was a patient here some months ago because I had kidney stones. When I was physically at the…read morelocation it was ok but calling into the office was a nightmare. It was very difficult to get a hold of anyone or get help over the phone. The doctor who treated me is no longer at this location. He was brief but explained my options. He wanted me to wait longer to have my procedure for them to have access to a machine which could break down the stones without surgery but I was in such pain that I opted to have surgery right away. It was not a pleasant experience but I was ready for it. He told me during the consultation they would be inserting a stent afterwards to make sure everything was able to flow out but that I would need to come back in 10-14 days to have it removed. I made sure to write that down. My recovery was painful but after a week I called to make sure I could be seen to have the stent removed because, despite what I was told before surgery, no one had contacted me to schedule a follow up appointment. They told me not to worry about it, that the doctor would schedule it himself but they would send him a reminder since I called in. Three or four days later I called again and they said the same thing. I explained that it had been two weeks already and he told me it needed to be removed, but they just said he was unavailable and would get him a message to call back. He never did. I waited 3 more days and when I called they said the doctor had gone on a month long vacation to his home country. When I explained I would need to see someone else to have the stent removed they put me on hold and said he noted I would be fine until he got back and they would remove it then. I called back again trying to get help the following week and they tried to convince me I misunderstood and that he said removal within "2 months" not 2 weeks, but I had written 10-14 days, not two weeks. No one would help or listen to me. About 3 1/2 weeks after my surgery I went to the restroom and felt some pain. I walked out of the bathroom to find my husband and realized I was leaking. The pain became excruciating. We decided to go to the hospital but I had to shower first, obviously. I'll spare you the details but once in the shower the pain became so unbearable I told my husband to call an ambulance. I was screaming and crying in pain so my husband ended up pulling the stent out by hand. It was bent and twisted. This was a terrible, incredibly painful experience. I called the doctors office to let them know what happened the following day and they acted like it was no big deal. A few weeks later I went to my follow up and he doctor asked if I had the stent. I told him I had thrown it away but had a photo. He looked at the picture and said it looked like all of it was out so I should be fine. He said that if a piece was stuck it could cause problems but he was pretty sure it was out. It was not reassuring but so far I have not had more issues and I am just so glad this whole experience is over.
