Mr. Prantil requested that my review be removed, and it was because there "wasn't enough detail." Luckily, I am more than happy to share more details about my experience with him. In all of my years of practice, Mr. Prantil is the most unprofessional attorney that I have ever come across. He briefly represented a client who was the respondent in one of my cases. He called me one day and began drilling me with extremely aggressive, leading questions. He was treating me as if I were being cross-examined. It was completely uncalled for. Note to potential clients: you don't want an attorney who cannot work well with other attorneys. After his aggressive rampage, I attempted to ask him a question and he interrupted me, saying there was nothing more to discuss. He then hung up on me, but not before letting his client give me a nice little passive aggressive comment. I immediately called the law firm back and left a note with the receptionist that the call with Mr. Prantil was extremely unprofessional and that I do not tolerate being hung up on. Afterwards, I looked him up on the state bar's website. To no one's surprise, he has been disciplined twice and suspended once. If you're looking for an attorney, go elsewhere. He is one arrogant person without ethics. He is always unprepared. He signed and typed a court order document that seemed to be typed by a lunatic because nothing makes sense. He used the words bitch and whore within this document then he preached about the gospel within his response. I'm just blown away at the fact people still hire his incompetence. Not to mention he charged his client $1500 and he couldn't even get a restraining order on the other party. This guy who claims to be an attorney will leave you in the dark while padding his wallet with nothing but lies. Trust and believe that you would be better off going to a local dive bar and grabbing the first barstool attorney. In the almost 2 years of dealing with "Dick" who happen to be my Ex's lawyer and was not present at court on almost every court date set that the final one was being told by the judge that she should just sanction him with all the time that was wasted in myself taking days off of work to be present. Truly the WORST lawyer I've ever met. As stated in another review he will NOT return phone calls or emails, but will MASSIVELY over charged for routine filings. I do plan on filing a complaint with the CA bar, and his conduct appears to me to be in line with his previous disciplinary action for Financial misconduct, and subsequent suspension from practicing Law. I feel it would've been thousands of dollars cheaper, and more efficiently completed had I asked any Freeway Exit sign holder to go to the self-help Law Library to file the divorce papers. Oh...there was not a contested item...we went to the lawyer together!!!...so Mr. Law Wizard had next to no paperwork to file. Richard is a family friend and someone I never thought I'd need to hire as my attorney. When that day came I was impressed by 3 things; 1. His intelligence mixed with humor 2. The clear way he communicates with the court because being respected by a judge means everything to how you're handled in the court room 3. The fact that he's in private practice without big named partners, high rent or expensive fees. Richard is still my friend today, years after my divorce has been final and I expect that we will be friends for life! In closing, please use an attorney for your divorce. Even if it's mutually agreed upon, a simple estate or your assets aren't that large. I haven't met a single person who's been happy in the years following a divorce when they used a mediator thinking they were less expensive or better. That's simply not the case. Where do I begin? You will do 99.9% of the work that you hired him to do. If the other party has an attorney, he will run away with his tail in between his legs. Not only will he run away, but he will also call the other parties attorney to work out a stipulation behind your back. He will butter you up with his arrogance and overconfidence before your court date, but none of that is present on the actual day of court when it is needed most. He is unprofessional and a liar. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this scumbag. We trusted him hoping he would ultimately give my son a better chance in his younger years and he didn't even try. He is the best family law attorney I have ever met. I had a horrible attorney before him, but when I switched to him things turned around completely. He is very knowledgeable and is a huge advocate about the kids. He is always thinking about what is in the best interest of the kids. He is very personable and is very well liked in the court room from other attorneys. He is very funny and easy to deal with on a personal level. Completely the best attorney to deal with than any others I have met or talked to. I feel completely at ease and not stressed when talking to him. the other reviews are most definitely false reviews. he is the worst choice. took our money and did nothing. missed court dates, doesn't return calls, we had to write up all of our own paperwork. very disappointed to say the least. we had to fire him after a year and a half of not getting into court because of his errors. read more
