Best doctor ever. My family.has seen him for over 40 years and will always use him until he retires.

Heyyyy, since Dr. Kroop's gone now, I've been trying to get my medical records and am having no luck. Anyone out there know how to get those bad boys so we can go to new doctors with a decade of medical information/history? I've tried Providence hospital, I've tried Dr Madrid (whose office told me they have no idea where his records went and no way to contact him), I tried the clerk's office at the advice of the hospital records department, etc etc. I tried a lawyer, but it sounds like it would be more expensive to try that way. Just want my medical records desperately if we could figure that out he was the best doctor, but obviously maybe not for everyone read more

I have been seeing Dr. Kroop for 16 years. My feeling about this great man is as follows. You will never ever find a doctor like this in your lifetime. He is as caring and compassionate as any doctor you will ever know or meet.,He truly cares about his patients. He is ALWAYS there for me. He is as kind as can be. I am very happy I found this office. They're honest and a caring team. I love Dr. Kroop and Winnie along with the entire staff. They take their time to answer all of your questions. Just as a disclaimer, I have never met this doctor and I can't speak as to his skills and abilities as a doctor. I have had this doctor as my primary care doctor for close to 2 years but have never been able to get an appointment and have also avoided it. The first time I called, the receptionist rudely answered and she they didn't have any appointments available. The next time I called I had to leave a message because I assume this was during their lunch break. The message recording stated that someone would call me back. After 24 hours nobody returned my call so I decided to call again. The person who answered asked why I was calling then placed me on hold. After waiting for 10 minutes, someone else picked up and asked the same thing. She sounded rushed and distracted (I could hear a lot of background noise). Halfway through I decided that I'm just going to have to try my luck with a new doctor. It shouldn't be this much of a hassle to get an appointment. My interactions with the receptionists on the phone so far have confirmed what other people have stated in their reviews. Good luck! read more

Best family Doctor in So-Cal, easy to get appts, super friendly, goes above and beyond for his patients.

I have had mixed success at this clinic. When I get into see the doctor, I usually get immediate referrals to a specialist but when I call in and leave a message, I typically do not receive a return phone call. The last few times I've received referrals the referral that is supplied by this clinic is incorrect. I guess this is what I get with Medicare. With previous doctors I felt like I had more of a hands-on physician who was sincerely concerned with my condition. read more

Dr. Kroop was both my grandparents drs. They started going to him when he just started his practice. He is simply the best, he saved my grandmother's life when her survival rate was less than 15%. As my grandparents got up into their. Late 90's he was always available to them and us for any questions we needed answers too. He is now my dr, and I can't say enough wonderful things to say. I'm 26 years old and was just in for an annual check-up and to also have some blood work done. I was looking for a primary care doctor as well so I thought I'd give ol' Dr. Kroop a try given his yelp reviews. I quickly learned that I was his youngest patient by about 20 years or so.. and that's ok I guess... but he was very quick to decide what was wrong with me and didn't really take the time to hear me out. Maybe because I'm so young? I don't know. Dr. Kroop himself really isn't bad and I wouldn't discourage anyone from seeing him - he just didn't do anything for me. His staff on the other hand was awful. The nurses are clearly unhappy working there and give absolutely no effort whatsoever to make patients comfortable. They have jobs to do and that's it. They don't bother telling you what's going on while you're there unless you specifically ask. My blood work results were to be mailed to me so I called two weeks after my visit to say I hadn't received it yet. Another two weeks go by and I still don't have it so I call. The nurse tells me she forgot to mail it and will put it in the mail the following morning... ok.... Well, I finally received it at the end of the 6th week. A little ridiculous for something so minimal. I will just have to continue my search for a good primary care doctor in Burbank. I heard Dr. Pao is very good. read more

Doctor Kroop not only takes time to listen to his patients as others have said... he also takes time to make sure they are healthy if something seems even a little off. I had some tests that came up with some questions and Dr. Kroop did an amazing job in making sure that nothing was wrong and that I was perfectly OK. I have had a lot of doctors, but I plan on sticking with Kroop because he really knows what he is talking about. read more

So deeply disappointed. My 90 year old father was recently transferred to a SNF in Burbank and this doctor agreed to take his case. That was over a week ago. You'd think that after all this time Dr. kroop would pick up the phone and call either me or my mother and introduce himself and give us an update. Keep in mind because of the pandemic we can't visit my father and ask any questions. I've left numerous messages for the doctor not one of which has been returned. read more

Please note that my review is NOT regarding Dr. Kroop personally. I have no issues with him but rather his office administration. The front desk receptionists lack professionalism and concern for the patients. They constantly drop your call or forget you are on hold. They don't return voicemails or even when you ask them to live on the phone with them. The messages they leave for each other get lost or miscommunicated. I've gone days without my medication because they don't get back to me regarding my refill requests. I don't mean to be disrespectful but they aren't very educated and it causes a lot of issues for patients. The billing department also doesn't communicate with you or return your calls. I was told a lot of misinformation when I had a billing dispute. Unfortunately, I will have to change my PCP because of this consistent lack of professionalism. read more

I was lucky enough to get Dr. Kroop when I visited the medical group he was then part of through my insurance. I was in horrible pain. He took such good care of me that I sought him out when I learned he'd left the group. That was around 8 years ago. Everyone I've referred to him has thanked me for it. My family has been seeing him for years and we have never had a bad experience. He is personable, patient, caring and thorough. He doesn't sit around and wait for things to happen before running tests and he addresses your concerns (no matter how silly). Yes, he's always very busy, but that's because he's a good doctor. His staff has always been good to us, friendly, patient and professional. They're not infallible, but no one is. For the most part, they do their job well. Because Dr. Kroop did not tell my husband about his abnormal EKG my husband almost died of a heart attack. 4 months after Dr. Kroop did a physical for my husband he was sent to a cardiologist by his pain management doctor. It turned out the main artery in his heart was 99.9 % blocked and he had to have 4 stents put in July 24th. We asked Dr. Kroop's office to fax a copy of the EKG done in March by Dr. Kroop and it was exactly the same, abnormal and showed atrial fibrillation. Dr. Kroop did not tell us. read more

Just went for my first physical checkup with Dr Kroop. I managed to get that appointment within a week or two, and they did a very thorough checkup. Dr Kroop has a lot of the services in-house, so you don't have to go to a third party for blood tests, x-ray etc, which is most convenient. Very nice and I will definitely make him my new primary physician, and send my husband there as well. And, according to my friend, who recommended him, when you are sick, you can actually get an appointment that same day. read more

He's good as a primary care internist. One of the better I have had. Cares for his patients and certainly very good given who is covered by my insurance. One big drawback is his wait times often are long for him though. Even with an appointment it's usually 1 - 2 hrs from time you get there to time you leave. He is a busy office and on one occasion for an initial blood work visit I had to see the nurse practitioner, but she was actually excellent. Generally can make an appointment in one to two weeks. Does think out of the box about how to treat people in a very good way in that he knows his stuff not just about medicine but about natural care and basic, by the book alternative medicine approaches to try. Sometimes a bit too cautious in treating things, doing a lot of sequences of tests. I would like him to refer things out a bit more often. read more

In a day when it seems nigh impossible to find a doctor who is competent, who gives a *, and isn't trying to hustle you out the door ASAP Dr. Kroop will be a refreshing change. He's opened his own practice a few doors down from his former medical group, and he seems much more comfortable being able to run his own show. I had medical problems I put off for years out of frustration with my previous MD at that same group. Now after a couple of appointments and a change in meds I'm all better. Dr Kroop is fine as a doctor. Heard my dad's concerns with patience and all. The office management is unorganized. I called 3 times to get a copy of my dad's blood report mailed to him. Each time they said 'we will send it out today'. Today never came. My dad went to the office to pick it up. They made him wait 30 min then said they couldn't find it. They faxed it home 3 hours later. What if my dad had questions? What if the doctor wanted to ask my dad questions about his history? I don't expect my dad to go back here anytime. I've been seeing Dr. Kroop for years. He has always made time to listen to my concerns and been patient with me. He is concerned with getting to the root of any problem instead of just handing out prescriptions. On the flip side, if you truly do need something, he is more than willing to explore the correct drug therapy and monitor the progress. When I switched jobs, I specifically made sure he was in-network. He and his team are excellent- I've also seen Mark a few times for X-Rays and the staff is really sweet. He also accepts walk-ins and cash patients. The wait times can be horrendously long but I think it's because he has so many patients that trust him and go to him. read more

My wife, daughter and I have been patients of Dr. Kroop for about 10 years. We were referred to him after our family doctor moved out of our area. He is a very knowledgeable, personable and caring physician. Neighbors and friends go to Dr. Kroop as well - and all share their highest regard for his medical care. I have heard him referred as the "gate keeper." If you have a serious issue requiring care of a specialist, he knows them all - and we have never been disappointed with one he recommended. Went to see doctor Kroop for the first time and I have to say he's so far been my absolute favorite doctor I have been a patient to... He's a very reasonable person. And clearly wants to help his patients get well as oppose to just writing prescriptions and sending you on your way. Shout out to his nurse who took some blood I didn't even feel a pinch. Dr. Kroop is the best. I have been seeing him for about 8 years now I believe. He really does care about his patients and does not give up on your healing. Very friendly and caring staff and nurses as well. There is always kind of a long wait, so just plan your time accordingly. I think the only reason the wait is long is because Dr. Kroop really takes his time with his patients and doesn't rush you through the appointment. They also do all bloodwork and X-rays in office which is a great time saver. read more

Ive been to Dr Kroop two times and he is... Crabby, Impersonal, doesn't return message (he or his staff) I don't know who the lovely people are that are writing these reviews but I can only guess they are friends and family of Dr Kroop. I had a flue and he gave me an antibiotic which gave me bad side effects. I told Dr Kroop and he said "well I don't know what to do" and I said "well, give me another antibiotic!" I should have added "and please don't charge me for the visit when I am telling you what to do"! Anyway he took lots of tests which was good but then I couldn't get him to call me and tell me what the tests said. I left 6 messages for him and his staff. Very annoying! read more

Dr. Kroop is as stated by others, a very caring and incredibly bright physician. As a nurse, I see a lot of Docs who don;t have the knowledge and experience, or who lack caring for the individual. They do not accept Medi-cal so don't waste your time calling and being placed on a 5 minute hold just to be told "no". Yes, I realize that he is listed on the Medi-cal website and that Healthgrades etc all list him as a Medi-cal provider. But it's not so. read more

First doctor in nearly 30 years of having a medical issue that has controlled it and not only with regular prescribed medicine, but by adding some supplements and even some eastern medicine (nothing odd, something you can get everywhere now). I've been going to Dr. Kroop since 2012 and I feel remiss in not writing a review before now. He and his staff have consistently provided excellent care and he is ALWAYS able to fit you in when you are sick. His staff is very friendly and helpful and he also has many in office services, such as Xray and blood tests. He's professional and has always taken the time to listen to me. Things to note: Dr. Kroop's new office is a work in progress, so don't expect the slick, high-end office he had with his partners who retired. It's getting better all the time, though. Most of his staff are young and aren't as attentive to detail with regard to requests for paperwork, call-backs, etc, as they should be in those situations. They are friendly and follow through if you are proactive with what you need done. Although his practice feels like a "start up" he is fantastic. Sorry, he's certainly not perfect, for those of you who expect that of him, but he has shown me compassion, a great sense of humor, and - what I believe - an honest desire to help me. He is intelligent AND intuitive, has a freakishly good memory, lots of loyal patients who have been seeing him for 25 years or more; he's fun and kind. As long as I live in this area, he will be my doctor. read more
