Countryside Amish Furniture - 2 Drawers don't fully close

The furniture looks amazing, and is heavy from use of solid wood throughout, but unfortunately the…read moredevil is in the details. Of the two pieces we ordered, both had issues. Drawers did not line up correctly after delivery and we had to fidget to get them aligned properly. Not that big of an issue and not a deal breaker. But, that's when we discovered some troubling quality assurance issues which were sadly the nail in the coffin so to speak which results in both pieces being sent back for a refund. It's completely unacceptable to pay such a high price for furniture and have every single screw miss the rear support spars (you can see the points of the screws missing every spar in one of the pics). There's some basic math/measuring that should simply not occur when buying this supposed quality level of furniture. Also not sure why each piece had odd markings/marker notes on them. And you can see a piece of the backerboard was crushed. Again, where's the QC? We had waited anxiously for them and was sadly disappointed. For those who are sensitive to smells/chemicals, I'd also suggest leaving them outside after delivery since they ship them off as soon as they're built. This results in quite a bit of off-gassing. Not pleasant to sleep in a room that smells of chemicals. I really wish none of these QC issues had occurred with our delivery/furniture because I really did like them but at the end of day, even I.kea furniture has better QC.

Several years ago, we found Countryside Amish Furniture when we were looking for a hutch. I found a…read moredesign on their website, and they worked with me to customize it for us. Then two years later we contacted them again, and ordered a customized curio cabinet to match our hutch. Then this year we contacted them again for another curio cabinet, this time in a different configuration. And once again they customized it so all three pieces of furniture match. This company is amazing to work with, are very responsive, and create furniture that far exceeds my expectations. I recommend to anyone that is looking for quality furniture to work with this company. You will not be disappointed.

Real Amish Furniture! Most furniture is made to order. There is a small show room to display the…read moreproducts and I assume you can buy those pieces but your best bet is to custom design your own. Great experience! I'll be back to order cabinets when I finally buy a house (Kenny hires a driver to bring up a big 5th wheel truck and trailer with the cabinetry and Amish Craftsman in it to install in your house!) The contact info is wrong. Here is the corrected stuff: Yoder's Custom Hadcrafted Amish Cabinets, Furniture, Trim and Doors Kenny Hochstetler 1476 CR 1025E North Market St Sullivan, IL 61951 Ph/Fax 217 728-2166 Delivery to Chicago is available. $200-300. But even with that delivery charge the price Kenny gave me was well below a similar product I almost purchased at Crate and Barrel. I say a similar product for a reason: Crate and Barrel offered a solid Mango wood table in two finishes that was roughly the dimension and type for my apartment, but at Yoder's I created a one off piece that I will have for years! Here is the break down of my table: 42"x42" Solid Oak (I had the option of four different woods: Cherry, Maple (hard and soft), and Oak). The design of the table I picked out from a catalog that he had at the store. After I chose the general design, I elected to customize it by asking it to be counter height (36") vice the pictured bar height (42"). Then I selected the wood of my preference. Only the Hard Maple was slightly more. Then I moved on to the bevel on the edge. There were about ten options for this; I went simple with just a 1/4" round. Now we went back to our catalogs and chose chairs. There were so many options! Some of the chairs are ordered from the Amish in the Ohio Valley, but the material and craftsmen ship is just as good. Once the material construction specs were set it was time for a finish! I chose (from about a 100 or more different options) a fruit-wood top and black lower (he had some of that finish on the showroom and it looked sleek. Then once that was all set. I asked if he could do a bench for me in the same exact style as the stools I chose for the table (to fit right under a window in the kitchen area in my city apartment). I gave him dimensions and said make it like one of the stools and that was it! Construction and delivery will take 6-8 weeks but well worth it. All that with delivery was a hundred dollars less than the Crate and Barrel table and chairs I was going with. Here is the price break down: table was 575, stools 121, bench 242, + delivery and tax. They take credit card as well so don't think you need to take a bunch of cash down there. Payment is half down at the time of order and half upon satisfactory delivery. Hope this helps you guys who were looking for some good furniture and are fed up with high prices and junk wood that only lasts a couple years. Joel

The shorter review since I was limited on words...So much more detail needed, but all the proof is…read morein the pictures! I'm not going to completely dog on this place, but I am going to make people aware of the customer service that I experienced while doing business with them... Customer Service: 0/10 Quality of Work: 9/10 The Good: The wood quality was excellent. The vanity tops were cut to the correct size, had a smooth finish, and looked great overall. The Bad: Customer service was terrible. It was nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone. Responses often took weeks or even a month, and a project that only took a few working days to complete ended up taking several months. When I questioned pricing, the owner immediately responded, "If you don't want it, I'll just keep it and use it for another project," instead of explaining the charges or acknowledging my concerns. I contacted them in February for two custom white oak vanity tops. The quoted price ($514 each) included cutting to size, staining, cutting sink/faucet holes, and applying a protective finish. I mailed a $500 deposit and a stain sample within days. After multiple unanswered calls and emails, I finally spoke with them in early April and learned they hadn't even started. I re-sent measurements and installation instructions. Weeks later they asked what stain color I wanted, even though they already had both the sample and color information. By June, after even more unanswered calls and emails, they finally started. During production they decided they weren't comfortable cutting the sink holes, which I agreed to, expecting a reasonable price adjustment. I also ordered additional unfinished white oak pieces. One board was almost identical in size to a vanity top and cost only $89.35. At pickup (a 2-hour drive), the owner compared my stain sample to the finished tops and admitted, "Yeah, it's a little off." When I questioned why a nearly identical unfinished board cost $89 while a vanity top without holes still cost $474, he offered no explanation--only, "If you don't want it, I'll use it for another project." Because I needed them immediately, I paid and left. Once home, I discovered the vanity tops were only stained and protected on one side, despite paying for stained/protected vanity tops. While one side may be functional, that wasn't what was quoted or discussed. The wood itself was excellent, but the communication, delays, pricing transparency, and customer service were some of the worst I've experienced. Great craftsmanship, poor customer experience. I won't be returning.
