A gem. Check out their old magazines and zillions of genre-specific posters.

Honestly, this is my favorite comic book store in the Richmond area. Every selection is catered to…read morethe niche of every reader. They don't only have newer selections, but also a vast amount of older issues for those who are looking to maximize their collection. The employees are very nice and knowledgeable of a variety of stories and what they have in stock, often providing recommendations and even assisting in ordering books at your request. The pricing is always reasonable, especially when it comes to the more "vintage" selections. Definitely will continue to shop here whenever I need a good read!

Stories Comics is a solid comic shop with a great selection and a lot of inventory. Pure comics,…read moretoo, not a bunch of gamer stuff or anime bikini statues. PROS: Lots of back issue bins and lots of trade paperbacks. A nuts amount of DC Archives, Marvel Masterworks. Dark Horse pre-code horror collected editions, etc. Nice mix of old and new stuff. Also a good amount of third party and alternative comics. Some discount bins, but I didn't find anything worth even the discounted price. The store is clean, bright, and organized. This is a solid version of a traditional sort of comic shop. CONS: No real cons to speak of here, other than there isn't really anything unique that makes this store stand out. No specific flavor or personality to it. This is just a classic, straightforward comic shop. Nothing wrong with that. VERDICT: There's a lot of good comics competition in Richmond. Some for weirdos, some for normies. This shop is for the more traditional comics fan, who just wants the best version of a standard comic book store.

Nice little simple shop that has a good amount of selections in stock. I will say this shop is…read moreparticularly for those who are looking for newer releases than older issues to maximize their collection as this store usually stops ordering books if it isn't really in current popularity. Basically they either have what you're looking for or don't. The employees are amazing and friendly, always striking up conversations with guests so the environment feels welcoming. I definitely will keep coming back when there is a new release.

Whether you are team DC or team Marvel or both, this shop has a tremendous selection of your favorites. This place is very organized and neat! Boxes and rows of comics to sift through and choose from will fill an afternoon of nerdy bliss. If you are a collector of action figures, toys, Pop characters, etc. this store has some nice choices. Their selection isn't huge, but definitely worth a gander. There was a Mad Magazine Robin figure that was really cool and hilarious! And the prices are fair, pretty much the same as other similar places. The young man who checked me out (I stocked up on Archie Double Digests!) was super friendly and helpful. He even offered me some sandwiches that had been catered from Jimmy Johns! WOW! BOING!! Lunch and a good read... my day is looking up!! BAM!

They carry Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball and other gaming titles in single packs, decks and box sets. Trading cards are all the rage. They host league tournaments for various card events for gaming enthusiasts. They don't stock comic books or figurines, but if you're a card collector, their inventory runs from Star Wars to TV cards to anything from A-Z! There are plenty of tables in this homey, welcoming atmosphere. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and if you're new the the card scene, they make you feel like a regular in no time. Collector's Heaven also supports FeedMore with food drives which helps to feed those in need in the community. They're definitely playing with a full deck!

Instead, the employees just seemed to stare at me the entire time, which made the atmosphere feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I spent quite a while browsing, but not a single staff member asked if I needed help or even spoke to me. It felt like customers were an inconvenience rather than appreciated. To make matters worse, the shop had a noticeable unpleasant odor that made it difficult to enjoy looking around. A friendly greeting, basic customer service, and a cleaner environment would go a long way toward making this a place people actually want to return to. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I don't plan on coming back.
