This is a classic main theater inside, still feels cozy and old school inside. It doesn't feel as glitzy and showy as the new theaters. Smaller theaters, but that's all okay. Sometimes you want simplicity when your watching a movie and not too many in the theater isn't a bad thing. I do try to support smaller theaters since they are slowly disappearing, yet feels like home and cozy due to their smaller size. We need more smaller theaters in all downtowns. The seats are comfortable, the sound is excellent, and I've always appreciated how smooth everything usually runs. Last night, though, was disappointing. I always get a popcorn bucket with the free refill, and when it's time for that refill, I simply walk up to the counter and they take care of it. This time, I was told I had to go all the way back to the end of the line. The line was long--easily a 15-20 minute wait. That left me with two choices: miss a big chunk of my movie or go back to my seat without popcorn. I chose the latter. If this is a new policy, it really doesn't make sense. A dedicated spot for refills would solve the issue and keep the experience consistent with what longtime customers expect.

I've been to this MJR multiple times, and overall it's just okay. The biggest issue is that the…read moreentire operation always seems slightly off. They consistently appear understaffed, and cleanliness is an ongoing problem. There's frequently popcorn and debris behind the concession counters and around the concession area near the auditoriums. Nothing is necessarily disastrous, but the details are constantly being missed. Customer service is also completely forgettable. The employees aren't necessarily rude, but there's very little energy, urgency or personality. It feels like everyone is simply getting through their shift. There's no real culture or sense that the team is excited to have customers there. To me, that ultimately comes down to leadership. A great theater manager should be visible, set expectations, build culture and create a team that is friendly, fast and efficient while keeping the building looking great. I just don't see that reflected in the operation at this location. The frustrating part is that MJR has an opportunity right now. People still love going to the movies, but theaters are competing with incredibly convenient home entertainment. If theaters want the experience to remain relevant, they have to give customers something they can't get sitting on their couch. That starts with a clean building, great hospitality, efficient concessions and employees who actually add something to the experience. This location has potential, but almost every part of the operation could be tightened up. Better leadership, stronger training and an actual focus on employee culture could completely change the place. Right now, it feels like they're doing just enough to keep the doors open rather than trying to make going to the movies feel special.

Pepsi products (thumbs down from me -sorry but Ick.) Comfy seats that do not require reservations. They also offer DVD rentals. Show times are limited but the theater we were in didn't get overly packed. Should also mention, the staff was polite and friendly. It's such a shame more people aren't filling the seats at this place. Dinner and a movie date night used to be such a nice thing to do. It would be cool if they offered an afternoon matinee and maybe a weekend showing of some cult classic at a discount from the usual price. Who doesn't enjoy taking in something like that every now and then. The Lost Boys, The Birds, Psycho, Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Window, Ghost Busters, and such.
