It sucks to press on the button of your floor to see it not work and then you have to tell people to move aside so you have space to press the button on other other working side. We were in and out in fifteen minutes. There was no line. NO LINE. When one of the windows opened up, we stepped up talked to a nice young gentleman who swiftly took our information and payment, and handed us a marriage license in return. Not even a little muss, nor was their a hint of fuss. I suppose it's only fitting that it was this simple to get our marriage license...because after all, isn't that what they say about marriage? That it's really easy, and you don't have to work at it at all?

10/4/25 Visit: We came to visit the large crane in the park…read more The Crane is a magnificent structure "not to be missed". The crane was manufactured by the Electric Launch Company (ELCO). It was used to lift the PT boats used in WWII. In the park, there's a plaque dedicated to the people who worked at the Elco Co. along with the service people who served on the PT boats. The park has other highlights: - Stunning marsh birds. - Enclosed viewing areas of the waters. - Lovely wooden bridge. - Benches. Looks like fishing is good here, as we saw several men fishing. During our visit, we did see law enforcement patrolling the area. Unfortunately, the restrooms needed attention. Other than the restrooms, The Richard A. Rutkowski Park is a "must see". There's ample parking along the water.

Buono Beach borders the Alice Austen House property, and runs along the shore for the equivalent of about 3 blocks. The beach itself is rocky and uneven, but people still enjoy it, fishing, picking up sea glass, and taking in the view of Manhattan and Jersey City. A 1997 renovation added a paved walkway along the length of the beach, and a memorial fountain.

This review is for the awesome splash pad that is located in Wheeler Park. Every time we go we…read morehave a blast! I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.

Came here multiples times over the years for couples getting married. I came either as Witness or…read moreas a family member/friend to support the happy couple. I even came here for my own Civil Marriage Ceremony with hubby- always a 2 day process. A few days in advance to get the marriage license to get it started in the system and then finally actual day to get the marriage ceremony. The policy states "once you obtain your Marriage License, you must wait a full 24 hours before your Marriage Ceremony can be performed unless you obtain a Judicial Waiver." There is generally a long line outside to get into the building, and then line to the reception and then waiting for your number to be call (like at DMV) to sign & pay the fee, and then more waiting for the chapel and then to get into the chapel. The last time I came was for my sister-in-law before COVID 2/20/2020- because it was such a lucky date? There were many couples there in the freezing cold. We waited over an hour outside just to get into the building to the reception. Another 30-40 minute until we got into the chapel. We didn't like the officiant for my sister-in-law's ceremony as she spoke monotone and she was the officiant in the other room. We were called to line up for Room#2 but it was the officiant of Room #1 that called us in. We were surprised because everyone that is on proper line for the rooms were always called into the proper rooms. We had to zig-zag, cross to the other side and skipped the couple infront of Room Door #1. Maybe they switched paperwork because we were Chinese and Room#1 officiant is Chinese (if yes, that maybe is racist?). The officiant's voice ruin the ceremony and was pretty much what everyone talked about afterward. She sound like a monotone robot with no emotions.

Came here because it's one of the few, or as far as I know, the only 24 Hour fishing piers. Had no idea that the bathroom closes around 6pm, so you're pretty much screwed if you stay over night. Also, there is a sign that if you catch the crabs, to throw them back, because if you eat them, it can cause cancer. (Bad omen) I had no idea the water here was that polluted. I fished here for a few hours, caught a small striper, and black sea bass, no keepers, but the heaviest things that I caught were bags and bags of trash. Absolutely disgusting! I can't believe there is so much pollution and garbage in this water. Such a shame people are ruining nature like this. No wonder they tell you not to eat the crabs. I legit thought I was going to be sick at the stench of the trash bags. I was really hoping that this could have been a new fishing spot because I love night fishing, but after this experience, no thank you!
