Clarke's have a really good selection of meat wehther you like it sliced, diced, chucked, minced, casseroled, braised and the prices are not silly. The pork, beek and lamb I have bought from there has all been from Wales. The mince meat I had looked low in fat. Lamb is always my favourite. If you are not a great cook, its very hard to go wrong with a pre prepared lamb kebab on the skewer with different coloured peppers. Their home made beef burgers are just 70p each. They are more than happy to give you the meaty facts if you want to go in and ask about what you are buying. Bon appetite.

It is fabulous, it is a shame that the other reviewer got nothing more from the experience than a packet of out of date biscuits, which although wrong if true is surprising based on what the place is like and the astounding range of foods in there. No good for Chinese or Thai ingredients but that is already well catered for here... really recommend, excellent butcher and with fresh bread being baked and sold in there it really is worth a look

Cumberland, which cooked up beautifully without an ounce of excess grease, none of the usual "scum" that escapes when you grill bangers, and they tasted amazing. Definitely worth repeat visits to work my way through their entire range. Also have a good range of "semi-prepared" meat products, e.g. marinated steaks/chops. Spotlessly clean shop and really friendly, informative staff who are more than happy to give advice and recommendations. Makes me proud to be a carnivore!

Longton Hall sell raw and cooked meats. The beef which is truly delicious has a minimum 21 day maturation guarantee and the sausages are award winning! Kebabs and burgers are available freshly prepared, ready to just pop on the BBQ and there's a delivery service so you don't even have to leave the house to collect them! The rotisserie chickens have to my favourite; they're ust so tasty! Piping hot or left to cool for salads and sandwiches the meat is so tender and juicy. nom nom. The are special end-of-day sales where unsold chiken is quartered and packaged and sold for about £1 a box, bargain!

At the front of the shop you can pick up ready cooked hams, chickens and the best spare ribs I've ever bought which come in a variety of different flavours. If you fancy it they also stock pre-cooked hearts although I've always managed to resist that particular temptation. The rest of the shop is a traditional butchers selling various meat products at very competative prices. This shop is well worth a visit (unless you're a veggie of course!).

The butcher himself, as a previous reviewer said, is exactly how you would envision him to be; well built, friendly and with ample facial hair. He's a lovely man who really makes you feel welcome. They have a wide range of meats available and the produce is always of an excellent quality, much better than the prepacked supermarket produce. The butcher is always happy to suggest or explain something to you. This is an excellent shop with a real community feel about it. Long may it remain.
