We like it here. The staff is friendly and always polite. We love our provider and have also had good experiences with the urgent care staff. It's a huge bonus that they have urgent care- so many kid issues require last minute appointments and we've never had trouble getting in. Appointments do not feel super rushed. It's cleaner than most doctors offices I've been too. The only down side is during busy times (like after school) the waiting room is packed with sick kids sitting really close to you. All in all though, good quality healthcare is really hard to find these days, and they are doing it pretty well here. read more

Just called the front desk to try to make a pediatric flu shot appt and was told I pressed the wrong line, even though I didn't press any numbers to be directed to the person that answered. She then said she could help me "just this once." When she asked when I wanted the appointment, I asked when they had availability and she rattled off the days and times. When I proposed a time outside of the time frame, she quipped "Like I said..." which is when I said I'd call back later. Will switch my kid's pediatrician to avoid these interactions going forward. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars. I've been with them for 5 years with my 2 children and when my kids pediatrician left they never told us but instead kept saying she was "booked out" and I wasn't able to schedule my kids with her when that was their assigned doctor? I eventually asked what was going on then they decided to inform me that she was no longer there. On top of that you can never get a hold of them on the phone. They never answer. I was checking the app to see when my daughter's appointment was and it said she didn't have one. So after 2 days of calling and pressing buttons to get a hold of anyone I finally did and asked why it wasn't showing on the app and they said they no longer use that app and it's a different one YET AGAIN with out sending an email, calling or informing me with the new information. All my contact info is up to date and I have not received an email in over a year. I don't understand how they operate like this. I will be finding a new place to take my kids. read more

Switched from another pediatrician to Dr. Ernst 4 years ago for my son. Now I have both of my sons under his care. He is by far the best pediatrician and my children will continue under his care. He is thorough, wonderful with kids, and very experienced. A bonus of the Richmond Pediatric clinic is that if your child is sick and you call in the morning you can get a same day appointment with one of the doctors (including Saturdays)! read more

I keep getting new reasons to dislike Richmond Pediatrics and regret the fact we ever brought our daughter here. The most recent is that the first time I've received a bill from them it included a $10 "FINCG Rebill Fee". While the esrvices were rendered about 2 months ago, I never received an initial bill... and even if I had, I've never been charged a late fee (equal to 70% of the balance due) so quickly. Which reminds me of the fact that they charge $18 for after hours calls, which is another first for me... and not something I was notified there was a charge for (I could have easily gotten an equally qualified nurse through my insurance at no cost). The doctors we've dealt with are generally okay, not great... and honestly don't seem all that interested in the job. read more

We have been patients of Dr. Falkenberg for the past 9 years. She's incredibly well educated (Harvard) and extremely knowledgeable. She listens very well which allowed her to request an MRI for our, then, 2 year old. As it turned out, he had a brain malformation and benefited from surgery. I don't know if another pediatrician would have caught that from simple headaches in a 2 year old. She caught a glasses prescription that was incorrect in one child, helped cure multiple cases of strep and urinary tract infections. We have 8 children but they continue to stay healthy under her care and I'm always assured that she will notice anything important, even in our large family. I'd recommend her and the practice to anyone! read more

Dr. Falkenberg is a total quack! My daughter saw her for what we thought was bronchitis and Dr. Falkenberg put her on some antibiotics i had never heard of. But I'm not the doc so I was silly supportive, until my daughter got worse instead of better and ended up in the ER! The ER doc said "wow nobody has prescribed this in decades" about the antibiotics she prescribed! Also my son has had a skin infection issue before, it's pretty obscure but 2 of the docs at Richmond Peds have treated him for it. They said if it flares up to try to avoid the ER and come see them. On a Friday night it flared up, bleeding and painful all weekend, when I called Monday morning the absolute minute they opened, they said they could not accommodate him! They told us to go to the ER, I wish we would have known that Friday or Saturday so he wouldn't have been bleeding and in pain all weekend! Drive out of the neighborhood and take your kids somewhere where they will receive proper care. Seriously. read more

So I have a few issues with this practice... first and foremost is about the well being of my children. First red flag...My daughter had intense stomach cramps and other GI issues and after 5+ visits they never thought about doing a tummy image to actually see whats going on... ( we just went back to our old pediatrician (way way out of the way) and that was the first thing they did along with a referral to a GI specialist... problem solved after one visit with my other pediatrician. Second red flag... is that they found a heart murmur in my son at his 2 yr well child visit... we did a follow up with a cardiologist at Sea Childrens and thankfully its not of concern BUT because they found this during the well child exam they TRIPLE CHARGED me! I called and asked why... the response and I quote... " heart murmurs aren't covered under well child exams". My response... Oh so why do you even listen to their heart? It's a well child visit... they are supposed to look at all of the child's health and if something is off then recommend another visit or another course of action. How the EFF can you triple charge me for something you found during a well child visit. And also why don't you tell me so during my visit? They would not reverse the charges. I think this is absolutely ridiculous! It's not about the money (we have a health flex act) Its about honesty and the well being of my children!!! I have been taking my 5 kids to Richmond Pediatrics and Dr. Ernst for the last 10 years. The care, confidence and compassion that goes into every visit make this the only place I can ever imagine taking my kids for their health care needs. Dr Ernst has a busy practice, but when he walks into the exam room he is completely focused on taking great care of my kids and never seems to be in a rush. He thoughtfully listens to any and every concern I might have, and is terrific about coming up with solutions that have really made a difference for us. As a mom I think I know my kids pretty well, but he does such a thorough job that I have been surprised at thing he finds out in well child checks. I really feel like when I am there we work together as a team to figure out what is best for my kids. He has helped us through some challenging situations and always has wonderful advice on everything from newborn care to teenagers. I had my 5th child a few weeks ago. I was absolutely blown away by the extra attention and care I received from Dr. Ernst. I had my baby late on a Friday night and figured that because it was a Saturday a Dr. on call would come in and check my baby out on Saturday. So, I was surprised when Dr. Ernst showed up in our room. We thanked him for coming on his day off and he said he was happy to come in on a Saturday to see us. He advocated for us in being able to leave the hospital that night per our request as well as putting a stop to repeated glucose test because I had a 9 lb. baby. The next day I had repeated messages checking on the baby as well. I am confident that my kids are getting the best possible care with Dr. Ernst and the rest of the outstanding Doctors and team at Richmond Pediatrics. Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Jeffrey was our son's pediatrician. My son was only a wee very premie when born, under 3 pounds. Joe had all kinds of ear infections at one time, allergies, etc. Dr. Jeffrey was Joe's ally. When he was emotional and or "childlike" and frustrated me, I have to say it was awesome getting a professionals POV on what was actually going on inside of this child, it helped me be more patient, understanding and accepting. It made life a lot easier by virtue of understanding. Excellent doctor who always put my son's health at the top of the list of issues when we met. That's where it should be these days, but often it is second to a zillion other things like insurance, time, blah blah. This doctor is the best. Now that we are back in this area and my son is a teen, we are going to make an appointment and reacquaint ourselves. After our original wonderful pediatrician moved out of state, (Dr. Maggie Bevilacqua), and we were put in under a new doctor, I feel the clinic has gone down hill as far as the atmosphere, the quality of care and the lack of enthusiasm for their job. Not our experience at all! I'll agree that it's a bit outdated but then so is my dentist in the area of decor but I chose quality care over aesthetics! We've been going for 4 years and the staff is amazing! We love our doctor, who goes the extra mile. She'll call us at home to follow up if we've been having pressing issues or concerns. If we can't see our primary the other doctors are just as wonderful! They also have a wonderful on call team and I like the fact that I get a prompt call whenever I need it. I like that they greet us by name and with a smile every time we come which makes it a warm and welcoming place for my son.Our previous pediatrician had us in and out in a eye blink. I feel like here we get our time and are never rushed. So if the place is a little outdated I can live with that knowing that my son is getting the best care he can get. As far as the billing, which I also check, I've never noticed a over charge. I have had it happen before at other medical places and realize it's also my responsibility to know what I'm paying in case mistakes happen. read more

My children are patients of Dr Ernst, who is the most kind and thorough pediatrician I have ever come across. During our visit with him my questions are answered, I don't feel belittled or brushed off, and most importantly my kids enjoy going to the appointments to see him. Went there when my 5 year old was having regular wheezing with very shallow breathing bouts. With a family history of asthma and allergies, his older brother having been diagnosed with asthma and allergies, I asked the Dr. what to do. Her answer was, 'bring him in immediately to them when he was in the middle of the wheezing bout'. I explained that it was worse at night or when f.ex running in cold air, how in the world was I going to 'bring him in' then?!?! Her response, 'we could look at it over a year and evaluate at the end of that time'. So in essence, she wanted to do nothing for a year while my kid was having regular difficulty breathing. Not impressed. I had to prompt her and ask if there could be any other reasons or things we could do other than have him listless and tired after these bouts. She said NOTHING. Again I had to ask if we could/should try allergy pills such as Claritn or similar. Her response was that we could. Why was I the one having to prompt for these solutions, isn't she the doctor? So basically, the only thing out of a $ Dr. visit was NOTHING. No problem solving, no communication such as, 'Have you tried allergy meds?' Not a single attempt at finding a solution. I went home, and followed MY OWN intuition and disregarded her lack of care and now he takes children's allergy tablets. His wheezing has gone done 80%, though he still has issues running in colder air. Most of all, he isn't tired from sleepless, airless nights. All thanks to a mother's intuition, and not listening to the LACK of care and concern by this Dr. Oh, and as an add on, they said it was standard to take weight/height at intake, they never did - they completely forgot. read more

I've been taking my daughters to this clinic since they were born and they've always received excellent care. The doctor came to the hospital both times I delivered to check out the baby and has always been great. My youngest has had ashtma since she was born and Dr. Falkenberg would call me just to check up on her and I felt that was really caring and above and beyond of her to do. I transferred my toddler son to Richmond Beach Pediatrics based on a friend's recommendation about six months ago. I am so impressed with the professionalism and level of service and care by all doctors we've seen there. Dr. Taraggo is so wonderful with kids and genuinely cares about her patients, she's so considerate, knowledgeable and explains everything thoroughly. Every time I need to take my son, which has been a lot lately, they find me a convenient appointment even at the last minute and treat me and my son with patience and respect. My daughter and I love Dr. Tarrago! Her cheery personality really set my daughter at ease when we had to unexpectedly switch from her pediatrician we'd used from infancy developed his own illness. More than that, Dr. Tarrago has been a wonderful match for a teen girl, and never seems in a hurry or impatient, even when going over something a number of times to make sure it is well understood. We have needed to come in for an emergency appointment and have had very good care from the other doctors on hand. The front desk is always helpful as well. read more

I am very impressed with Richmond Beach Clinic, and I have been bringing my son here for many years. Shortly after we moved to Shoreline, my son became ill. I called this clinic and asked if a doctor could see my son that very day--assuming that would not be the case based on previous experiences in other places. The answer was "Yes. We have an opening in an hour or . . ." I took it! The doctor was peasant, efficient, and kind to my son, treating him with respect. Our doctor for several years is Dr. Anne Reese, and I couldn't be happier. She knows my son--talks to him in a respectful, kind, caring, and pleasant way as she asks him for information about how he feels. She is also considerate to me and seeks ways to find health solutions for our son. I recommend Richmond Beach Clinic to any parents and their children who want to be treated with kindness and respect. Our 2 daughters had an annual well checkup last Nov. at this clinic, supposed to be under insurance coverage. We received 2 same bills total over $100 in early 2017 from a lab that we don't recognize. I called the clinic's billing agent who told me the doctor had a concern about our kids' iron deficiency that we didn't hear at all during the checkup. Our kids told us their doctor didn't ask for consent of any blood work, assuming that was part of the checkup. We called the clinic again to verify and got a different answer: that was a recommended screening test for 17 yr old, but neither parents and kids were asked for approval. They argued that they are not responsible to verify insurance coverage trying to deny any wrongdoing, the worst handling of our complaints ever. After 5 months, we don't even see or hear about the testing results. We're so disappointed about this clinic today which we sent our kids over past 15 years. Dr. Walsh is hands down the best pediatrician I have ever met. She is knowledgeable, genuinely kind, incredibly professional and she interacts with our children in such an amazing way! During our visits with Dr. Walsh she not only speaks to us as parents/adults but she teaches our children as well. Her desire to educate our little ones on eating habits, clean hands and basic health care is such a plus! She always goes above and beyond (even for our little concerns with colds, ear infections, etc.) She is like family to us and we couldn't imagine ever having anyone else care for our children. I can still recall my first visit with Dr. Walsh while I was pregnant with my first son. I wanted to find someone who I knew- from the very start- would provide the care that we wanted. They apologized for the pharmacist not being able to get through. We have been patients at Richmond Pediatrics for 17 years. We have a big family - lots of kids with various medical concerns over the years. I have been so grateful for all the doctors we've seen, especially Dr. Jeffrey Ernst, who is smart, personable, and kind. He always makes us feel like we have his full attention; he's very gifted at listening, showing empathy, putting kids (and parents) at ease, and resolving our issues. We've also seen Dr. Melissa Walsh, who I also adore. She is similarly gifted with a gentle, kind, caring and comforting bedside manner. Richmond Pediatrics is a wonderful neighborhood pediatrics office. Here are some of the reasons why we have been patients for our family for over 12 years: 1) Dr. Ernst: what a fabulous physician and the pediatrician for our family. He is a great flagship to the pediatrics office with his genial manner as well as his research on any questions about illnesses or symptoms. We've run the gamut with our boys of illnesses such as colds, flus, stomach viruses etc, and also have had the more serious asthma/eczema related flareups that have been adeptly addressed and treated by Dr. Ernst and other staff at Richmond Pediatrics. He listens well and addresses the issue and does not hesitate to refer onto specialists if the needs warrant it, or if the parent requests. 2) Friendly and Competent Physicians: When we can't see Dr. Ernst for a last minute illness, the front office is very accommodating to schedule us to see a different physician as soon as possible. I have always been able to get a same day if not a same hour appt for an illness. Their physician staff is very competent and we have probably seen almost every physician over the 12 years we have been patients. While not every physician's personality is the right fit, I have found that the medical advice is sound and if I have any hesitations, it is addressed quickly by Dr. Ernst with a follow-up call. 3) Excellent Access: While you do need to schedule a bit out for a physical exam (be sure to schedule well in advance of August), the medical group will quickly schedule your child with your doctor or another doctor that same day for illnesses etc. Last I checked they had great hours for after-work appts, and even weekend hours as well. I have never had a problem seeing a physician for last-minute appts. 4)Nursing Staff- There are a range of different nurses/lpns/medical assists that do assess and assist in the office. I do notice that there is change over from year to year in some of the nursing staff, but my sense is that is normal for the nursing staff. They are always friendly and personable. Nurse Mary is one of my faves and always responds in an intelligent and communicative manner when I have concerns and the doctor may not be available. (The physician staff is very consistent over the many years I have been there, with a majority of the staff been working for over 10 years there.) 5) Friendly front desk: Always greeted with a smile and patience. Karen has been on staff for years and always remembers you and aims to assist in scheduling or answering questions quickly. I don't remember all the front staff members names, but have always had a friendly experience with all. The billing office assisted in answering questions on billing as well. (Knowing that you may be charged additional on a well-child exam for lengthier issues/other medical issues is a confusing part for parents not just here but also at other medical offices and it sounds like addressing that issue will assist both patients and staff in understanding billing.) These are some of the reasons we joined and have remained with the Richmond Pediatrics group for over a decade and will continue there. While not every experience is perfect, I feel that as a whole the Richmond Pediatrics group has been a consistent and strong provider for our children. They are not complacent with their practice and have been working over the years to continually improve their practice and standards. I would strongly recommend Richmond Pediatrics to new families in the Richmond Beach, Shoreline, Edmonds area for pediatrics care. read more
