The performances were great, and as a fan of the Bridget Jones movies, it was a hoot to see Sally Phillips! Not only was the acting great but I really liked the stage direction, especially the fight scene! Two tickets to a great night of theater for $67 USD is likely the best value of my entire vacation!

Add a bottle of Veuve Cliquot and that's a perfect prelude to an evening of theater. "Nye" and Michael Sheen were wonderful. A deeply moving account of the man behind the founding of the National Health Service. At the conclusion, when they projected the improved health statistics since the inception of NHS, there were many watery eyes, including mine. "WELL DONE" cast and crew!

Its a great little theatre...the guys kept the queue moving and once inside it was easy to find loos, bars and seats...they did insist no glasses on the front row, plastic only - pretty sensible one would say. A great view from up there - probably the best seats, though frankly, I'm reckon you would get a good view from almost anywhere - the online chart showing seating available helps immensely when deciding It was a fantastic evening...yes, there were a few kids, but this was really one for the parents...you could tell with the exuberant not to say loud, contribution from the audience - everyone there was ready to participate, given the slightest chance This is a FUN evening with all the cast in good form, some excelling and I don't just mean the 2 leads. A few political asides, a few risque moments but basically it was a show to savour. The 3 musicians in the boxes were good too. It was probably a good thing they didn't invite anyone on the stage For me, the best performance came from Oscar Conlon-Morrey who literally threw himself into the part as Jack, the son. Over the top - absolutely...he was supercharged from the moment he came on till the final curtain. We saw Tom Stoppard's Arcadia at the Duke of York's Theatre about two weeks ago when we were…read morevisiting London for a few days. The theater is much smaller than other Broadway and West End theaters I've visited - with only 600-ish seats. That made it intimate and special for this play. We sat in the first row of the Royal/Dress Circle, and the seats and the view of the stage were excellent. There was a bar and bathrooms on that level - everything we needed for a great evening of theater. The location is great - plenty of options for a pre-theater dinner. And the theater is beautiful inside and puts on some great productions! I'd love to return.

My wife and I saw Inter Alia at Wyndham's Theatre in May of 2026, our first play on the West End…read moreand at Wyndham's in particular. The play was fantastic and Rosamund Pike was phenomenal. The theater itself is great. We were lucky enough to grab second-row tickets and the view was incredible, but the cozy size of the theater and it's smart layout pretty much gurantees a good view from anywhere in the house. The staff were friendly, entry and exit seamless, a nice waiting area and bar to wait in prior to the show...all in all, a great experience. I'd love to come back to a show here.

REVIEW: "Long Day's Journey Into Night" at Wyndham's Theatre on May 14, 2024…read more This traditional 800-seat theatre in the West End was built just before the beginning of the 20th century. It's the type of house where the staircases are a bit small and the seats a bit narrow. Clearly Henry the Eighth never had to sit in the Royal Circle up in the mezzanine. Jamie W. and i had no plan to patronize this theatre until i saw Brian Cox's face on the marquee. Playing James Tyrone, he was starring in a limited run revival of Eugene O'Neill's "Long Day's Journey Into Night", and despite being a die-hard "Succession" fan, i thought I'd never convince Jamie to sit through 3-1/2 hours of family dysfunction. To my surprise, he said yes, and here we were squeezed into the Royal Circle where the cocktail bar was only one flight away. Most helpful during the intermission. I was even more thrilled that the estimable Patricia Clarkson was playing Mary Tyrone, a legendary role played by the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Vanessa Redgrave, and Jessica Lange. Clarkson took more of a Blanche DuBois approach to the drug-addled mother failing to grasp the state of her psychologically estranged family. Cox was an impressively blustery force as James, and it was a nice surprise to see Daryl McCormack affectingly play the alcoholic older son Jamie, quite a role reversal from his confident escort in "Good Luck to You, Leo Grande". He brought a defeated sullenness to a role completely identified with Jason Robards. Laurie Kynaston played Edmund, the younger son with TB. He brought a surprising energy to a role often overshadowed by the other cast members. Under Jeremy Herrin's spare direction, the play was admittedly a gloomy affair in autobiographical dramaturgy but a deepening work that resonates with the unflinching dialogue between the characters. Have you ever been to a theatre-in-the-round? I had not and admit that I'd not even known what…read morethat meant. Then I spent an evening at the Orange Tree Theatre and now I'm all in. What a fun way to experience a show. A theatre-in-the round is one with seating on all sides of the stage. In the case of the Orange Tree, the concept continues on the balcony level. with long bench-seating (with backs) and a padded rail to lay your elbows atop. I'd booked tickets in advance, on-line and arrived at my (2) balcony seats to find an envelope with my name hand written on it. When I opened I found a letter - also hand-written - thanking me for joining them and welcoming me. This was an unexpected delight. The show I saw was Noel Coward's "Suite in Three Keys" (excellent) and I wish I'd had more time to see the other two Coward plays they were staging (with the same cast). Seats here were comfortable and they appeared to have a devoted crowd of regulars. Those folks would know what I didn't though, so here's your warning: save your drinks until post-show. The way the seating is arranged on the balcony level there is no way to get out of your seat mid-performance to, say, use the restroom. Likewise, if you arrive late you'll not be able to get to your seats if they're in the middle of a balcony row. For these instances, they allow guests to watch the show via video screen from an alternate space. You've been warned. So save the drinks until later and arrive on time. The theatre-in-the-round experience is fun and Orange Tree Theatre offers a great overall experience.

Made a belated first visit to this theatre the other night after knowing of it for many years…read more I appreciated their understated approach from the moment you walk in, with welcoming staff and not too elaborate decor in the lobby/bar area. The seating is intimate and I also received the first-time-attendee welcome note (as another reviewer noted), which is an extra positive touch that will linger in my memory. The play offered strong commitment from the actors and an energetic staging in the round. I would definitely consider attending another show here if given the chance.

Cockfosters is a hilarious, 70 minute show currently (December 2025) showing at the Southwark…read morePlayhouse. Just a minute from a bus stop, strangers James and Tori meet at Heathrow and take the Piccadilly Line across London on a journey they'll never forget. Even as an American who didn't get all the local reference I found it to be a great show, and much more affordable compared to many of the alternatives. Additionally, the venue is small enough any seat you buy will give you a good view.

The Almeida is one of the best producing theatres in London. Some of their shows go to the West End…read moreand Broadway. They champion new work as well as bringing fresh perspectives to revivals. The space is very flexible and can be a proscenium, of thrust, or even in the round, whatever is best for that particular play. They don't shy away from controversial plays and musicals, so this is the place to go if you want to be challenged as well as entertained. Tip: When you book seats downstairs it may say restricted view. That's because this is an old venue with poles holding up the balcony. As you can see in the picture there small and in my experience they don't really get in the way. If that bothers you the seats upstairs are excellent.

It was exciting to see that the Almeida is still going strong, and perhaps entering an even more…read moreadventurous phase, when I returned here during a recent re-visit to London. I attended the theatre several times between 2004 and 2007, and the plays offered strong casts (Eileen Atkins and Imelda Staunton were probably the most notable names I saw live) but not especially challenging dramatic fare. This time around in early 2015, the theatre had been transformed into a would-be video game arcade for Mike Bartlett's provocative new play "Game". The audience was seated on specially constructed benches in a square area around the main "stage" (totally reconfigured into a would-be private living room) and voyeuristically urged to follow the plot of the show, which alternated between onstage and a live video feed that was broadcast simultaneously from different areas of the seats. This performance also pushed the boundaries of more traditional theatregoing in that it was offered twice in one night - a great way for the theatre to make some extra money and for the actors and technical staff to flex their muscles. It's clear that other recent Almeida productions have been more dramatically adventurous. Looking forward to keeping an eye on their future output!

We have been several times to the Noel Coward Theater. It is in the Leicester Square theatre…read moredistrict and easy to find. The Importance of being Ernest was playing so we decided to see it. The theater is a classic British style. Several floors, bar areas and hard to find toilets. Corridors are narrow and you have to be able to climb stairs to get to most seats.Most seats offer a good view of the stage. My only disappointment was that they ran out of my preferred flavor of ice-cream at intermission!

I'm 5'2 and sat at stalls level row k seat 3; I had to sit stick-upright (no slouching) to get a good view of the stage in front of a man who looked to be over 6'. The seating has an old-school velvety feel to it.....didn't feel dirty and there was zero musk in the air so I'd say the place is cleaned up often enough. :p Decent seat legroom (economy-flight-legroom-tier) but space between seats isn't the greatest (saw many folks being elbow-to-elbow). Overall not a dealbreaker if there's a show that you want to see that's being held here (for me I watched The Comedy About Spies; fantastic show), but wouldn't say that you would be optimally comfortable while watching the show.
