The manager, Theresa, is very rude and lacks customer service skills. My mother went in to have our cat get some blood work for travel. She was being racist, rude, and dismissive to my mother. She was very condescending and lacked basic knowledge about the type of blood work needed for animals to travel. She seems like she hates animals. I would not trust those people with my pets. My mother had some questions regarding the blood work needed for my cat to travel because the last time I had blood work done for my cat, they did the wrong one. They wasted my time, and money, and my cat was unable to travel with me. My mother wanted to avoid this from happening again. Theresa then told my mom she will not help people like her. She proceeded to write a letter saying they will be denying my cat from any medical care. My mother is a black, visibly Muslim woman who is well-spoken and articulate. Theresa continued to speak to my mom like she wasn't capable of understanding. She repeatedly referred to my mom as "your kind" and "people like you". Theresa is not fit to work with people. She is better suited to work somewhere away from people. The owner should really consider replacing her. She is bad for business. Please believe that my family will be taking our business elsewhere. We will be telling our family, friends, and neighbours to avoid that clinic at all costs. read more

I scheduled an appointment to euthanize my beloved dog. I was charged over $100 for examination and consultation for Dr. Oliver Sterbinsky just to tell me that we made the right decision. He did not do any examination and we did not need his opinion of $109. My dog of 14+ years was barely moving and could no longer get up. The actual euthanasia/cremation was another $400+. The only thing this veterinary clinic is concerned about is getting your money. They are quick to push expensive procedures and charge the examination and consultation fee just for a rabies shot. I do not recommend Richview Animal Hospital and would never bring a pet there again. read more

We went there for 2 & 1/2 years, and the vet techs were always very nice. But our main vet had no compassion. Our dog got sick very suddenly, and passed away. During a visit just prior I expressed my concern that she needed to be admitted because she was having trouble breathing. Was told it was severe arthritis. Was given anti inflammatory meds and sent home. Our dog died 2 days later while we were at work. Obviously I know this is not their fault. It has taken me a year to write this. I am not blaming them for her death. However I do not recommend them solely on the lack of compassion. They are a business. That's it. Our dog was part of our family. She was my baby. We received a 'post card' a few weeks after our dog died. It had signatures from everyone but our vet on it. read more

Great service and very nice staff. Always following up with the care and how my dog is doing. I have signed up for the Wellness Puppy plan and I truly recommend this for new owners/puppies. I chose this vet when I got Mickey (my cat who was at the time a kitten) 2 years ago simply because they are located very close to where I live. On most occasions the nurses were extremely nice and helpful, but that's probably the only positive thing I can say. On our first visit I went alone, the staff seemed extremely nice and helpful leading up to their wellness plan offer. Back then, I didn't realize they were questionably pressuring me (a 16 year old at the time) to invest in the wellness plan. I was intrigued at first because it seemed like a good idea and they made it sound very promising, but after fully reading the contract and doing the math I found that it was extremely overpriced, especially because I had a kitten at the time and I wouldn't necessarily need the perks of the plan. They have two wellness plans, one for puppies&kittens and one for adult&senior pets and this insurance-like plan covers certain expenses for monthly payment. Added together over the course of a year, these monthly payments amounted to a way higher number than if the visits are paid individually for vaccinations, deworming, neutering/spaying etc. After taking the time to think about the option and letting them know I have decided that it's not worth it for me, the staff started acting kind of rudely (except the nurses). The receptionists seemed annoyed of our presence and treated us as nuisances. The doctor seemed nice, but she just had this tone in her voice, or attitude, towards us when it came to my mother associating past experiences from her country and owning a cat vs during that current moment. It felt almost like she was showing off her "knowledge" as if my mother was clueless or stupid. The receptionists increasingly got ruder, and the doctors seemed less and less compassionate about any concerns or questions I had. Before having my cat neutered, we scheduled the required blood test. The day of the appointment we had to cancel because something had happened and we couldn't go. We called to reschedule and the receptionist almost seemed annoyed explaining to us that they only had one available time being the next day in the morning and afraid that Mickey would start spraying we accepted it. The next day when we went there we waited for over an hour and a half after our appointment was scheduled and when my mother went to ask what was going on, the receptionist angrily stood up angrily stood up, went to one of the examinations rooms, and forgetting to close the door, loudly complained to the doctor about how she is bothered by my mother asking her a simple question for everyone in the waiting room to hear. 10 minutes later she returned to inform us there was no time to see our cat, and we would have to come back next week. When we came back next week we signed in, took our seats and got lost in conversation waiting for our name to be called. When they called our name and we confirmed, the nurse just came over, picked up the carrier, and walked away without saying a word. I got up to walk behind her but she closed the door to the examination room before I could walk in. She came back 10 minutes later saying she drew the blood and everything was fine. I was in complete shock. I at least expected an explanation, or a head up "We have to take him to the back room because of ... " or 'We believe this would better be done without the presence of an owner due to animals picking up on the owners anxiety and acting out" but I got nothing. She just handed me the carrier back and scurried to the backroom after letting us know they're ready to take our payment. To conclude this, if you don't get their wellness plan they'll act like you're worthless basically, and treat your pet like it's a bank machine and treat you like a terrible owner who doesn't care about their pet if you don't agree with their costly recommendations. read more

They have now stated that I bring my dog in 2 visits instead of 1 for his yearly vaccines because of his size (2.5 kilo) which has been the same for 3.5 years. $95 to walk in the door and will also charge me to come back to complete his shots, altho the vet did say "I can give him all his shots today but it could KILL him" SERIOUSLY????!!!& with a straight face. They also overcharged for NEXGARD flea and tick treatment by $105.... I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL...THEY ARE ONLY ABOUT THE MONEY HERE. NO COMPASSION JUST DOLLAR SIGNS read more

Completely unprofessional and lack of respect to their employees. I heard two vet techs talking bad about a third one she was not there.

Finding a reliable and trustworthy vet is hard and if you're looking for the same, I would not recommend this place. Here's why: I have taken my dog to this vet for a few years (after being unsatisfied with others in the Etobicoke area). I find them a bit pricey but I previously felt it was still worth it until my 15 year old dog started having seizures unexpectedly. I called the vet frantic and crying on the phone on a Friday around 4:00pm. They did not allow me to bring my dog in and told me "they were busy and already had emergencies". They only provided me with phone numbers to animal hospitals. I called another local vet (who I only went to once maybe 8 years ago) and they let me bring my dog in despite being busy. I understand that places are busy, but if you are a vet claims to care about pets, would you turn down 15 year old dog having a new onset of seizures who has been a regular client??? Maybe but my dog was clearly dying and they were not willing to accommodate. My dog had to be put down that same day. After this, I felt that this vet did not value their customers and it seemed to me that they were more interested in money from quicker visits. BUT my experience with Richview animal hospital got worse. The next day, I received a voicemail from their clinic asking about my dog and if we wanted to book a follow up appointment ($$$$$). AND THEN, a few days later, I received an email asking about my dog again and if they could "continue with any follow-up care he may need" ($$$$$). A vet that cares about their clients would not turn down a dying animal and then attempt to contact them twice to schedule a follow up visit. This was just a traumatic experience and I should consider that vets are not obligated to take emergencies if they actually cannot, but methinks not since this vet also sent me a quote to neuter my dog when he was ~12 years old ($$$$) to resolve a skin condition produced by excess testosterone (this is what they told me?) ... if they actually believe a dog should be neutered at that age, there are some serious issues. I've had too many poor experiences here and would not recommend this place if you expect reliable and compassionate care. read more

After several phone calls re written accounting and what had been agreed upon cysts/ questionable hard lump, on back and side and 6 extractions during in house consultation., my dog was scheduled for an operation.The day of the operation, I drew a diagram of areas to be address, as discussed, showed the assistant physically the areas and attached the diagram to the signed agreement ( on street because of Covid). I later find out there were 9 extractions not 6 and after being sent home I find 2 areas in my diagram and as discussed were not operated on. I called the office but staff could not find my account yet had been paid over $3000, The icing on the cake was when the receptionist looking for my account asked how to spell Charlie. This should have been another Clue. The Dr. returned my call...and seemed surprised and responded oh well. trying to justify she had removed 5 cysts.( I don't know her justification and will now file freedom of information for pre op Drs notes, operation detailed notes X-rays before and after...)Then it was time to get stitches removed.I booked an appointment to have stitches removed. I was advised the Dr. Would not remove them but a technician. I thought this to be highly unusual . I drove 38 miles..met staff on street again.When the brought dog out. I was advised all done and also said his mouth (which was the second part of surgery with dissolvable stitches was doing well ) I Brought the dog home. 1 and 1/2 weeks later...I decide to give him a gentle brush. I was shocked to find stitches in a large section of his side HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED. Nor the other on neck etc.I have used RICHVIEW ANIMAL HOSPITAL for 10 years and been with owner in another location over 10 years.. Since Richview Animal Hospital moved, WITHIN THE PLAZA....it has gone down hill rapidly. It presents beautiful outward trappings, friendly appearing staff.....hired tons of new staff..new doctors WHO ARE INCOMPETENT I am so so very disappointed ,upset and now angry. Who does this ? How many errors before enough is enoughcause the dog....who can't speak for himself has been suffering with pulling stitches. No matter who interacts with her, the care and attention is seamless. Maisie Mae first became a patient of the Richview team in November 2013. I selected Richview for her care as it is a respected clinic and conveniently located. In the 1990s I took my two cats to its sister clinic -- Jane Animal Hospital which is also owned and operated by Dr. Sterbinsky. I am pleased to state that the level of care and customer service received back then at the Jane clinic is found to be the consistently high standard offered at Richview. read more

Very satisfied with the level of service. Brought my cat to the hospital on an emergency basis. He received a comprehensive exam. Any tests that needed to be performed were first discussed, including the fee, so there wouldn't be any surprises afterward. Withi I was pleasantly surprised to receive a follow up call from the Dr., regarding Sammie's wellbeing and progress. At the current time Sammie is resting comfortably at the hospital, as I i am out of town on vacation. This is actually the 2nd time in 4 months that I have boarded him there. I have been very satisfied with the care and compassion with which he has been treated. Sammie suffers from separation anxiety. However, when he came home the last time he was very calm and content, and yet happy to be home. I requested a lot of cuddles for him and have been assured that he is receiving them. I also get updates on his day (with photos) from time to time. These past experiences with the Richview Animal Hospital have left me very much at ease about leaving my cherished Sammie in their care while I'm on vacation. Last but not least, I found boarding to be less expensive here than elsewhere. read more

They have been there through the good times and the bad with all 3 of our dogs and our cat. I took my pup in and had two good experiences and one negative one. with shots and vaccinations they were great, but had one experience where my partner and I both left feeling like the vet had room to improve with her bedside manners- also felt pushed into very expensive options when the conservative method (and much cheaper method) ended up being perfectly ok. I love this place. They have been taking care of my dog Lola for many years now. Everyone there is super nice and friendly. I love my little Lola, but I fully admit that she is a terror and only a mother (me) could love her! She is NOT friendly, or cuddly, or receptive to anyone but myself and my mom. I am not proud of this, but my nickname for her is "Cujo"! That has never stopped the staff from treating her with care and affection. No matter how grumpy, ornery, or difficult she is (i am so sorry guys), they treat her like she is their favorite patient. They always have great suggestions and take the time to answer all my questions (did I mention I am a high maintence customer?). If they are not sure of the answer to a problem, they will go look it up, consult with others, or search the medical books, whatever it takes to get the right answer. And they always promptly get back to me with an answer. Lola has a lot of health issues, so I visit this clinic frequently, and it has never ceased to amaze me how often they call to check up on her, even weeks after I have brought her in. Even after regular bussiness hours! I have seen various doctors there, and they are ALL terrific. The staff are all great too. If you haven't already figured it out, I highly reccomend this clinic. Yes they can get a bit pricey, but I have been to other vets that are just as pricey, but not as dedicated to their animal and human customers as these people are. Well can't say I'm impressed with this hospital. Constantly feel like I'm being nickle and dimed to death. Not sure about some of the young people working there. They seem very inexperienced and not sure of what they are saying or doing. The only light in this hospital is Dr. Portch but you don't always get her when bringing in your pet. My suggestion is to look around and ask friends before deciding on a vet. read more

I had a really bad experience here. I don't recommend, they are scammers. My puppy was sick, and they recommended doing x-rays to see what's going on inside, $250 dollars later they say the x-ray isn't clear and we should do an ultrasound instead. Which would have been another extra cost. I don't understand what the point of doing an x-ray when you can't figure out what's going on inside my dog. They gave me the option of running blood tests and other stuff. Financially, I could not afford any more visits or any of the tests that are $60 each MINIMUM. I pathetically had to beg for them to help, and they did not help my dog. The front desk ladies are nice and care, but they put a price on everything there. I understand it's their job, but my dog is also suffering and money seems to matter more for this place. I don't understand why they act like they care so much, because once they have to run tests they look at you and your pet as ATMs. DO NOT go here. read more

As a first time pet owner I did not know what to expect from a Veterinarian/Clinic and I am happy to report I am 100% pleased with Richview Animal Hospital. All of the Dr.s are amazing - they take the time to explain everything to me (which I need) and I never feel pressured to do anything that I don't feel is necessary. The entire staff is so wonderful with my puppy, Lola, and they make sure I know what I have to do next to keep her healthy and safe. They send me reminders when she needs her next visit and as a result I never have to worry that I am forgetting something. I highly recommend this clinic! read more

I want to take this moment to commend the wonderful staff at Richview Animal Hospital. This morning, my sister called me to say that her cat Mitzie was not well and was very worried. Mitzie was 19 years and old was not able to walk or move and had not eaten since 9:30 p.m. the night before. I called and they said they would see her between appointments. We only waited about 1 hour. The staff were compassionate, feeling and very very caring and made a very painful experience much less hurtful to bear. Mitzie was treated with respect and caring, and was not left to suffer any longer than necessary. All tests and results very fully explained and Mitzie was eventually put to sleep. During that time, the staff handled my sister with such concern and professionalism and I can't thank them enough.
