Accidentally I came across Shelters Insurance Company where I met Ed Faber. I inquired about a quotation, and there he was like a thorough professional, explained me the products. I was convinced as the insurance product which he offered was best in my findings. Not only that, he also took all the pain in visiting me personally to make sure all the required formalities are done. I was at peace.... After some time I was again in need of different insurance product because this time I was buying new home.....I called Ed .....There he was, like a sincere advisor, explaining me all about home insurance. By that time he had started his own company "Insurance Gurus". To my surprise he never asked me to change my policy, but the kind of person and knowledgeable professional he is I followed him there. He not only educated me on the home insurance but also was present when I was signing my deed with the bank to advise me DOES & DON'T. Last winter there was some serious wind storm and I lost some of my roof shingles. The complete roof was damaged. Ed took complete care of me & my family by not only getting me insurance help but by also by calling on the roof repairing company and getting me the required assistance. Then came the real incident, where my Wife met with an accident, thank GOD no injury to her but my car was totaled. By now Ed was family...I called him and again there He was........ I am a foreigner to this country but he always treated me and my family as his own..... After some storm damage to the house and…read morefiling a claim, I waited weeks for an appraiser, made a pile of calls trying to get the appraiser there, given a bunch of excuses for him to show up and then he had have numerous reasons why nothing would be paid. The funniest part was when the appraiser admitted he couldn't even authorize payment, it had to go to someone higher up and the chances of anything getting paid were less than 10%. And for roof damage, the split my roof into 6 sections and I was told that 50% of the section would have to be damaged for replacement.... of only that section. I swear, he counted the total tiles of each section, then the damaged tiles and said that my damage was below my deductible (there's another scam) and I should "hire a friend that's a roofer and buy him some beer". Low rates at first then just steadily kept going up. If I had realized that they insured on bad faith (look up that lawsuit in Texas) I would have dropped them years ago. Now read on for someone to make excuses and say they want to make it right.... clue: that's only for PR. There is no making it right.

Poor customer service drove me away from Relion…read more I was a customer for over 25 years, starting when the agency was called A.W. Welt Ambrisco. The great service that Mr. Ambrisco provided me is sadly a distant memory, completely gone after changes of ownership and name. In the last year, Relion fouled up in many ways. My hapless agent would not answer my questions about my home, auto and umbrella policies. For example, when I just asked some general questions about what would be involved if I wanted to make a claim, instead of answering my questions, she just went ahead and made a claim without my approval, which was infuriating. She was reluctant to rebid my business to various companies when I asked. She gave me an incorrect phone number to call, to reach her. I tried emailing and phoning Relion's offices Dec. 22 and Dec. 23, with no answer -- a phone call to their main number only resulted in a recording, "destination mail box is full" -- that actually happened on a business day when competitors and insurance companies answered their phones when I called. Relion not only did not answer, they didn't even have a functional answering machine turned on for days. Relion mostly sold personal policies from Pekin Insurance, and they did so for decades, but as I write this they are now abruptly quitting doing business with Pekin. That leaves their customers stranded if they wanted to continue with Pekin. I took my three policies to another independent agent, and I am much happier.
