I then moved to the other side and waited another 10 minutes to be served (at which point the bartender said "Didn't I just serve you?" Um, no, you most definitely did not. This place has two saving graces: 1) A water jug full of cold water for the taking, off in the corner. Love that. 2) A popcorn machine that had DELICIOUS popcorn! YES. If you can manage to get a beverage then I think you won't mind Green Parrot's (very) relaxed atmosphere and delightful little perks. Often, the dancers would stand with their backs to us at the VIP section. I expected a little more interaction with the dancers as we were sitting in the VIP section. We paid more money to be there. I recommend the dancers pay more attention to those sitting in the VIP section and start your journey throught the crowd in the VIP section.

Yes, prices are a little high, but that's just Key West. The service, however, was great, and the food was exceptional. I ordered the Chuleta de Puerco, and it was genuinely some of the best pork I've ever had. All entrees come with your choice of white or yellow rice, beans, and another side, I went with the yuca. My girlfriend got the Bistec Palomilla medium rare, and they nailed the temperature perfectly. That's a thin piece of meat, so most places overcook it, but it was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Dessert was great, don't sleep on it. The Guava Bread Pudding was unlike anything I have ever had and the Tres Leches was perfect, moist without being overly sweet. To top it off, I had the best café con leche of my life. Here's where things took a turn: At the end of the meal, I poured a spoonful of the Tres Leches directly into my café con leche. The moment I took a sip, the table shifted. A warm energy entered my body, and before I knew what was happening, I was fully possessed by the ghost of Pepe himself. I blacked out completely and woke up in a hotel room three days later. According to a local newspaper clipping on the nightstand, I had somehow won a town-wide domino tournament and consumed enough rum to kill a small pirate crew. 10/10 food, service, and atmosphere. However, I am currently seeking a local exorcist. Pepe is still living inside me and refuses to leave until he gets another plate of yuca.

The space is half outdoors and half covered, with two levels to explore. The drinks were cheap and surprisingly strong. The rock area had a great band, although they charged far too much to play a requested song. The dance and techno club was also a lot of fun, and the music kept the entire place lively. Throughout the night, I kept asking everyone where Rick was. Each time, someone told me to quiet down. Naturally, I responded by yelling, "RICK! RICK! RICK!" in rapid succession. Rick then appeared from a puff of green smoke, looking like a combination of Macho Man Randy Savage and Grandpa from The Munsters. He asked why I had summoned him by saying his name three times. I apologized and explained that I had merely been trying to locate the owner. Rick handed me three Bacardi Lemon shots and ordered me to drink them back-to-back-to-back to cleanse the air. I obeyed, and we soon found ourselves laughing over a terrible "bad blood" joke. He then gave me a tour of his many bars, introduced me to a suspiciously pale bartender named Vlad, and led the crowd in a spirited rendition of "The Monster Mash." Rick even shared his favorite vampire joke: "Why did the vampire open a bar?" "To raise the spirits, but business was slow because everyone kept asking for a Bloody Mary." It was a fantastic night, although I did wake up the next morning with two strange dots on my neck and an intense craving for tomato juice. I'm choosing to believe it was just an aggressive mosquito and not a vampire initiation ritual. Great atmosphere, strong drinks, good music, plenty to explore, and possibly one undead proprietor. You can get a variety of drinks and they even have a daiquiri stand. Employees have always been great and I've never had to pay a cover charge when I went there.
