Terrible back bartender service. Just visiting for my birthday. He is disrespectful and proud

The shoe. New Year's Eve tradition.

With live entertainment, friendly strippers and a mostly male crowd, this gay-owned and operated pub opened in 1995 and it's one of the most popular gay bars in the city. This Pub is basically a New Orleans themed gay bar in Key West. Here you'll find regular drag performers, strippers, clothing optional/male-only garden bar with a pool and a jacuzzi. Every night the 'Men Of Bourbon' get their kit off and prance around for your amusement. Private lap dances are also available. Key West is, of course, a legendary gaystination and Bourbon St. Pub is in the heart of the action. It's a good location to see and be seen. The Bourbon also hosts popular New Year's Eve parties as well as themed parties and weekly pool parties. The dropping of the "shoe" with a famous drag queen is a New Year's eve tradition in the city. Friendly staff and bartenders.

    Margarita and Keylime colada

Loved this place! We stumbled upon this place by noticing their sign for Keylime coladas. The Keylime colada was the best we had ever had! The drinks were amazing!! Every mixed drink we had was made very well (also strong). The bartender was very attentive and made sure everything was perfect! The vibe of the place was very welcoming. They also had lots of TVs that were playing football if that's your thing. Overall a great place to stop by and have a drink or two!

    The nightly musical act

Pre-Covid, this was one of Florida's most fun gay bars. These days, the experience is marred by a terrible music act, every night until midnight. A middle aged karaoke enthusiast sings his favorite hits off tune and much too loud. Drunk women woo in delight. But, for everyone else, it's just a bad karaoke night without the fun of variety or watching your friends perform. If you visit, make sure to push through to the outside bar where the bartenders are great and the crowd is relaxed and friendly.

This is a great place if you're a single gay man feeling a little, dare are say it, trashy? It's a rough group of trade parked out front having cocktails. If you venture towards the back where there's a warning sign which puts you on clear notice that no one in the back is wearing clothes. Beware. We ventured into the back and sure enough the bartender was stark naked. As were numerous patrons in the pools and spas. I'm certainly not a prude but this is where I draw the line. I need to see someone that can I'll do that when I get home.

Island House used to be the vacation destination for us. This was our first stay since the remodel…read moreso it's been a few years. OK, where do I start? I'll start with the positives and then get to the negatives and rank them in order. Positives: 1. The palm trees and lush vegetation. 2. The decorations for pride and their 50th anniversary. 3. The food is still reasonably good, although the prime rib came out cold. 4. The rooms have been generally remodeled to be more modern. Negatives: 1. The room is cool in the morning, warms up by late afternoon, is hot by 9 PM, and doesn't start to cool back off until 2:30 AM. 2. The bar staff plays Spanish music only all day until you ask the front desk to have it switched to English to which the bar staff takes offense. 3. The bar staff is more interested in watching the FIFA soccer tournament than actually waiting on any guests. 4. The further you went back into the room away from the front door the weaker the Wi-Fi signal got until there was no signal. 5. The soap dispenser leaked onto the towels hanging on the towel bar below it. Instead of having it fixed, the towels were put on the floor. 6. The gang shower between the gym, indoor Jacuzzi, and steam room area smells like sewage. 7. The sitting area above the stairway and at the end of the hall next to room 210 is covered in and reeks of pigeon feces. See attached pic. Although the front desk and management are responsive, it used to be that these things were taken care of without guests needing to point them out or request they be fixed. Not sure if it's due to staff turnover and/or management turnover but hopefully this review will be taken seriously and help future guests as we will not be coming back anytime soon. My overall rating is a 1 because the negatives far outweigh the positives in importance for the price you pay. And when prices are raised, you would expect the service level would raise as well or at least stay the same, which, in this case has not. Please remember that you're in the HOSPITALITY SERVICE industry. This is basically lipstick on a pig.

I've had dessert in the desert near Area 51, And underground in Antarctica, far from the sun. I've had it in graveyards, beneath moonlight so fair, And even in a dessert restaurant, yes, I've had dessert there! At Better Than Sex, the Fever was mine, And it tasted so splendid, so luscious, divine. I tried one of their special coffees as well, And it was so delicious, I nearly swooned under its spell. But the night's grandest moment, the finest display, Was when our waiter arrived with the desserts on a tray. He looked straight in my eyes as he named each delight, With a confidence both curious and wonderfully bright. My dessert was a huge phallus, impressive and grand, With two giant balls resting beneath it in hand. It was covered in "splooge sauce," a curious sweet stream, A dessert of such drama it belonged in a dream! I truly enjoyed this place and would gladly return If I lived nearby, where the sweet candles burn. They are masters of dessert, of flavor and flair-- A deliciously mischievous treasure tucked away there.

An extremely unique ambience and decoration. But it's not too much or too little. The seating is comfortable and private. Our server was very nice, he checked in at all the right times and was sweet. We only ordered one dessert and it got there promptly. Everything on the menu looked excellent and delicious. We settled on the cookie nookie cake, it was super fresh with many contrasting flavors that made every bite a pleasure. Overall had an amazing time and recommend this place for anything from a late night dessert or a full dessert meal. If we're ever around again, we are definitely going back and trying a lot more than just one dessert.

The prices were friendly, the atmosphere was fun, and the combination of cold drinks and spicy food gave me enough courage to face whatever horrors waited outside. I assumed it was a ghost until I realized it was just someone at the bar making a recommendation. Then the salsa started moving on its own. I bravely consumed it anyway. By the end of the night, I had defeated the haunted salsa, secured another inexpensive beer, and escaped with my soul mostly intact. Mary Ellen's is a great stop for cheap drinks, Mexican food, and the possibility of being spiritually possessed by a particularly aggressive jalapeño. Five stars, though I recommend keeping an eye on the chips.

To the bartenders and staff who made every visit feel that way: Dairy-ah (I'm almost certainly butchering the spelling, but the pronunciation stuck with me), thank you for the warmth, the skill, and the way you made the bar feel welcoming every time. Lucy--always with the hat on backwards--you became my spirit animal the moment I realized how perfectly that energy matched the whole vibe of the place.
