I had a great experience with Kayla! It's my first time getting extensions. I've noticed my hair thinning recently so I wanted to try extensions. Kayla worked with me to find the best shade match with the dimensions I asked for. She and I picked out two colors from Bellami. We ordered them, and she prepared them for my install. She's personable, and listens to feedback without taking it negatively. I think above all else, she is honest about what to expect with extensions. They're expensive and quite the labor to maintain, but she was very transparent about what to expect in that regard. The only thing I feel a tad weary about is the feel of the bonds in my hair. At the moment (and maybe because they're new) they feel a bit tough to the touch. The bonds are meant to soften with time as you wash your hair, so I'm looking forward to that. It feels great to have a full head of hair again :). I'm a regular gym-goer at this point in my life, and the k-tips are flexible to my lifestyle needs. The business and staff were clean, friendly, helpful and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately my stylist was the worst part of the experience. I got in short notice which was great. My stylist was Lyric. She seemed pretty scattered from the beginning. She invited me to the chair we talked about what I was looking for she said no problem and she got to work. I was looking to cut my shoulder length hair to a pixie cut. She cut off the majority of my hair then shampoo. Everything seemed to be going good even though she was a bit distracted. Lyric was stopping to check messages on her phone as they came in. About 15min into my cut she took a phone call. She invited her friends in to come talk to her while still cutting my hair. Her friend came in and sat in the empty chair next to us and they proceeded to have a personal conversation about going out, their friends, and their partners. After chatting between themselves for about 15min Ricky asked to see Lyric in the back. When she came back she begrudgingly asked her friend to leave. During the time she was talking with her friend she was very distracted. My hair is very uneven and choppy. Very poorly blended. some areas are very short, some very thick. It was a very disappointing experience. I had just worked up the courage to chop my hair off and it just didn't go well. I have nothing bad to say about Ricky or his business. Absolutely horrible experience. I went to Ricky Salon for a simple trim and left with my hair completely ruined. I clearly asked for just a small trim, but Ricky cut about 8 inches off my hair without checking. The haircut was extremely uneven with long strands sticking out everywhere. It looked rushed, sloppy, and completely unprofessional. I went back within 30 minutes because it was so obviously messed up and asked them to fix it. Instead of correcting the uneven cut, they chopped off another 2.5 inches. Now my hair is far shorter than I ever wanted and still uneven. It will take months, if not years, for my hair to grow back to the length it was. To make matters worse, the staff were rude and dismissive when I tried to explain the problem. There was no accountability and no real effort to make the situation right. This was one of the most upsetting salon experiences I have ever had. I had the pleasure to get my hair done by Alex, and I have no better way to describe my appointment other than it was amazing, and the outcome exceeded way past my expectations with only 1 session! To start off with my hair background, I have not been to a professional hair salon/stylist since 2004~2005 because I never found a salon worth going to and worth the money so I always cut and dyed my hair. With that being said I always wanted to get a Modern Balayage done to my hair but knew getting it done would cost a lot depending on where/who you got it done by. I had a place in mind, but I could not bring myself to spend what they were asking for. I contacted Alex, gave a bit of a run down of my hair and right off the bat he was super excited to work with me and said it will be a lot of fun, which got me excited! I viewed his Instagram and I knew I wanted to get my hair done by him. We scheduled my appointment, and even leading up to the day, he checked and confirmed my appointment which is appreciated. On the day of he was very welcoming, no rush and I felt calm throughout my whole service, since I was very excited and anxious because it was going to be an extreme makeover! Mind you, I have waist length hair, haven't dyed my hair since back in 2017 and that was an all over 1 color, so my hair was basically virgin hair, with very little color on the ends. He began working on my hair and it went smoothly throughout the whole service, he always informed me of what he was doing so I'm not just sitting there without a clue. Bleaching process took alot of time since I have some what decent amount of hair, plus virgin hair, double plus Asian thick hair, but he never once showed that he was getting tired, or worn out, and am really thankful he didn't give up on my hair lol! When the bleach was processing he would check my hair from time to time to see the progress and took note of how long it's been, which I appreciate because I know some stylists just go off and take a break until it's time to wash the hair, but he made sure that everything was going well. After that he did a root melt & toned my hair. Washing my hair he used products that would help my bleached hair and revive it's moisture, plus it smelled wonderful! Even though he washed my hair multiple times in between everything, he was very gentle and took his time and never once did I feel like he was tired, or over it lol. He held great conversations and never let it get boring, and overall it was a very fun and successful hair session! He informed me on what products to use to up keep and maintain my hair/color, and he took his time to give me really pretty beach waves! I have finally found someone I can trust my hair with, and believe me I do not trust anyone, since in the past everyone was disappointing and that is why it took me 16 years to finally get my hair done by a professional! You will not be disappointed with Alex's work! He actually knows what he is doing, and is not just talk and is well worth the time and investment to your hair! I will be seeing him in a couple of months to touch up on the money piece sections of my hair, and all my future hair changes!!
