I followed Melinda to this salon as she recently left Ulta and settled at Hair Nation. Although the website says it doesn't open on Sundays, it actually does. It looks like each stylist has her own schedule. Melinda works on Sundays, so we came on a Sunday. This visit was not for me, but for my teenage son who is a difficult customer. He was never completely happy with his haircuts. The best comment he gave so far was okay. He was going to have a big concert in a week, so I pushed him to get a haircut. After suggesting so many salons, I finally suggested him to try Melinda, who has been my stylist for years. He agreed to give it a try. The salon was across the street from Valley Medical Center. The salon has a private parking lot. Because we came on a Sunday, it was really easy to park. When we walked in, there was only Melinda. It was a quiet and clean salon. Melinda chatted with my teenage son to figure out what he was looking for. When my son made an unreasonable request, she patiently explained why it wouldn't work. Her explanation was clear and easy to understand. Right after the haircut, my son said that Melinda was great. But this time I decided to wait for a few more days to see he would change his mind. When I first went to Ashley for a haircut it was a last minute decision when my prior stylist had left the salon I routinely went to, and I just chose Hair Nation because it was nearby to my home. Little did I know I would be finding the only hair stylist to ever get my hair exactly how I wanted---honestly even better than I imagined it! Even when I showed prior stylists numerous pictures of what I had in mind (and even once drew out what I was trying to emphasize what I wanted, which was a layered style that tapered to a V shape at the bottom) it always ended up looking very rounded and horizontal regardless. When I told Ashley my usual request she didn't ask too many questions about it so I thought "well, here we go again". Turns out she didn't need any more info because she knew exactly what I was going for and did it flawlessly! The next day when I was walking through a parking lot some random woman scared the bejeesus out of me when she shouted "NICE LAYERS!" I really like that she cares about the integrity of my hair, especially since I get my hair bleached every 8-10 weeks. Your, consultation was only 5 minutes, not lengthy, and I stated from the beginning that I did not want dark roots. My scalp looks like a rats nest and the grey was showing within 2 days, if you would have done a good job, I would have praised you and given you 5 stars. My biggest fear was leaving with shoulder length hair (after starting with it mid-chest) and I was pleasantly surprised to still have majority of my length. I cannot remember the name of my stylist, but she was very professional. Got me in on time, and out within 30-40 minutes, without making my haircut feel rushed. I will say if you are tender headed she might not be the one for you. But other than that, she was very good at her job. All of this only cost me $45...which is the cheapest haircut & wash I've had in awhile. Ashley did amazing; a SHEAR perfect job on my Long Hair Cut! I've never had any kind of salon experience where i've walked out feeling so beautiful. Found her salon through Yelp, and she was able to squeeze me in after a couple phone calls. I showed her a picture of what I wanted done, essentially a hair cut with layers. First I have to say, where are all the licenses? Everywhere I have gone, the stylist has their license hanging up. I had my haircut by Dominique about and I said I wanted an inch and a half off and she didn't come close to that and was done and 10 minutes. For some strange reason I gave her a second chance, and this time I showed with my fingers cut this much off. She just barely trimmed, then asked was there something else and I said all right here I'd like it shorter and so she cut it shorter there but didn't blend it in with anything else. She said she was going to use a mousse on my hair but she forgot. Kept stopping and asking if anything else, and I gave up I would have had to tell her, cut here, now cut here, every step of the way to try and get what I wanted. Whether she was or whether she wasn't, reminded me very much of someone I know that when he is stoned he just keeps stopping and you have to keep telling him over and over do something and how to do it. Therefore I would not recommend this place and really wonder at about those licenses not being displayed, whether she even had one. Re: response... They might be there now but I looked behind desk when I paid and looked all over. Never saw any licenses when I looked for them. And I hope I was the exception for her. The reason for the lack of stars was, after my cut I asked for my hair to be straightened. And I was charged! I had truly fried my hair with home products and then grown it out somewhat in pandemic times and I have grey coming in as well so my color was a messy thing to undertake. After discussing what I wanted, Ashley gave me a full foil lightening on roots and then did a toning to make it more cool colored and not blonde, which blends better with my skin and the color that will grow out later. If I could give 0 stars I would. I was a new customer and the stylist when I stated and showed a picture of what I wanted including where I wanted the layers to start, at the very beginning said she understood - she did not. During the 3 hr appointment for cutting my shoulder length hair for a trim and removing weight and adding movement (layers) she, the stylist still didn't get it right. She started off with cutting the hair barely a 1/2 inch and was taking so little off at the ends and kept saying you can't put it back once it's taken off. Then when I restated where I wanted the layers to start she said that would look funny and she couldn't do it. Shoulder length hair and layers starting about ear level isn't asking a lot. She continued to cut and cut do uneven that now one side of my head has less hair then the other and there's a weird front patch that is completely uneven lengths from left side of my face to the right. I reached out to the owner and she said to send her pics of my cut and she would talk to the stylist. So I sent her pics of the cut. Then she asks for the pic I showed at the time. It's like one thing after another. I asked if she talked to the stylist and she hadn't. My cut was done Tuesday March 11th and reached out to the owner the very next day via 2 emails and had to send a 3rd email after a week of no response. They don't guarantee anything - except ignoring the customer's issue and making the customer jump through hoops. Do Not Go Here! read more

They said they couldn't take me since they already had another appointment set for the time, i even had the appointment confirmation email to show, she kindly offered another appointment for thursday at a discounted price but I am busy all week and i'm not going to risk them double booking me again.
