We've been working together individually now for several weeks. I sought out individual sessions to get back in shape. So far, I'm very impressed. Josh is very knowledgeable about the proper combination of exercises and stretches to target your trouble areas. We were hooked immediately. From the moment we started, we could feel the difference. When we went to classes, we could really see the care that was out into each class. Each person that leads a class does a great job of really treating everyone well and with respect but we really appreciate how they don't just treat the kids like kids but expect them to have manners, responsibility, discipline and generally behave well. But they do it in such a great way that it isn't overbearing or rough, they it in a way that the kids can grow. I think it is a real testament that you can see how much the various students progress over time. Everyone that sticks with it really improves but not just in martial arts or in being able to protect themselves but also as a person. We have seen many kids who have really been growing out of their shells and it is very nice to see. Lastly, this is like a big family. There's quite a few people going here but it is always friendly. You can't help but make friends. It is a very healthy environment, even if you aren't the one taking the classes, I genuinely feel you benefit by just coming here. Working with partners was a great way to connect with others and practice techniques in a realistic setting. It was an excellent session and a valuable opportunity to learn self-defense, which differs from kickboxing since it doesn't require building up routines and steps over several classes. The only downside is that parking can be challenging due to the shared lot with other fitness businesses. So plan to go a little early to be on time and park along the street.

We chose them because in addition to learning martial arts they teach discipline in a different way. They teach it through building confidence, mental strength and emotional awareness. To discipline is to educate and they take that seriously. We have tried all the Sensei's and we love them all, each one of them brings something new and different and never disappoint. We also have been to both locations and they are equally amazing. My son has been attending since he was 6 and I plan to sign up my daughter when sheii turns 3 years old. It was intimidating at first - I learned to move my body in unfamiliar ways, and was introduced to a lot of people when I was actually pretty shy and unnerved. Fast forward two years - I've lost 70 pounds, I'm an upper intermediate student, and I can't wait to get to class four days a week. I have taken control of my life, taken responsibility and accountability for my personal health, and have learned the power of meditation through karate and how to channel my healing into this physical art. This isn't your typical dojo - we are not a combat spot - oriented school. We are an all-inclusive community with students of all genders, religions, sexualities, physical fitness levels, formative experiences, and ages. We do learn martial arts and we do learn how to spar, but we also learn martial arts as a form of meditation, and how to use the principles in karate to improve our everyday lives and the lives of those around us. I'm a lifer now, and my best friends all train with me and understand me. This is my family, and I'm forever grateful that my friends ushered me in the door two years ago.
