She died. They have been stonewalling the discovery phase of the case against them. Trying to make us go away. We have only started bringing attention to this matter

If I could give zero stars, I would. My grandfather was admitted to Preferred Care of Old Bridge on…read moreMay 2 and discharged on June 4. In just over a month, he lost nearly 30 pounds due to neglect. He was regularly served pureed food, even though that wasn't part of his prescribed diet--despite daily menus being filled out by his daughter. His gout medication was also stopped without our knowledge, which led to a painful flare-up. When we raised these issues, Nurse Director Christina Cebula claimed the hospital had discontinued the medication and rudely tried to show us this from across the room on a small laptop screen. She was combative, dismissive, and completely unprofessional during our meeting, behavior that is unacceptable for someone in charge of others' health and safety. She claimed their in-house doctor determined it wasn't gout, yet no doctor ever spoke with us or even introduced themselves until the very end, when a man we assumed was the doctor briefly came in and said he could go home the following week. Social Worker Elyse Amgott constantly dismissed our concerns, often saying they were "inaccurate" or asking if we had photos to prove them. Head Nurse Audrey Joseph and much of the nursing staff showed little to no compassion, not just to my grandfather, but to many residents. Staff routinely tried to gaslight us into believing our concerns weren't valid and instead justified their lack of care. My grandfather was often left in soiled diapers for long periods of time, and his call button was taken away. In front of my mother, staff told him not to press it after an accident. Out of frustration, he began getting up on his own to use the bathroom, a huge fall risk. When asked if this was documented, we were told they "don't track which patients are in diapers," which is deeply alarming. The overall condition of the building was disgusting, it consistently smelled of bodily fluids throughout and not just in his room. My mother stayed with him for about six hours every day and was never once updated on his progress or a discharge plan. Only after I demanded a meeting did anyone act. Then, records were delayed for over two weeks when we tried transferring him, and we were repeatedly told "let's take it one day at a time." By the time his records were finally sent, another facility denied him admission due to false or exaggerated claims in his file. This is a for-profit facility that clearly cares more about maximizing billing than actual recovery or patient care. They'll keep you there as long as possible, drag their feet on paperwork, and try to milk every last dollar while providing substandard care. Preferred Care of Old Bridge failed my grandfather in every way. If you're considering this place for a loved one, please reconsider. No one deserves to be treated like this.
