You can get good quality S hooks here for your pots and pans; something that is hard to find in North American kitchen stores -- that is because we rarely get European quality items. Great selection of kitchen scale (albeit expensive) and molds for chocolate and cookie cutters. Pastry chefs would not be disappointed. I wish my luggage could fit the 8" round cake liners. Superb customer service. After endless food photography and scenery shots, I ran out of memory on my SD card, they carry that as well. If only we weren't travelling on backpacks... 160 Canadian dollars later, yikes. My husband should have hidden my credit card in a jar of lard, but the new additions are going to be well loved. Most notable is the lighting section which has a really great little variety of lamps, shades and bulbs in interesting and varied shapes and sizes. What I like best about a shop like this is the intimacy and the sound advice from staff who really seem to know what they're doing.

What a difference now , the two men that work there are ignorant and look annoyed If you ask for help, unless your a pretty young girl. I have witnessed 2 accidents by the public ,one a severe injury to a hand which was wasons fault, no records were kept or reported of any.. I once asked where a particular item was, and was told "its over there" I looked but could not find and walked out past the worker who ignored me. Stopped going there.

They also have some great wallpaper and paint options, and, most importantly, they have one of those magical paint-colour-mixer-things. Further to the back of the store you leave behind all those cosy fittings, like taps and doorknobs (pretty), and find yourself in a giant's world of wood and fertilizer.

I went in to have a look at paint without knowing what colour I really wanted. That was a big mistake and I ended up leaving empty handed, except for a few samples because I couldn't possibly pick from the massive collection. I did however pick up some cheap rollers and brushes in preparation and spent about an hour looking around the rest of the place deciding what else I wanted to do! Not the kind of place you can really just nip into but its selection is unbeatable and the flowers and garden section is great.

Absolutely love Langbridge. What you get here is customer service. I'm not saying you don't get it…read morein the larger stores but you do have to track an employee down to find it whereas in the smaller independent stores there always seems to be someone on hand to help but without being pushy. I love the fact that they have a website too as I can't always get over to the other side of Bath and delivery is reasonable and quick. I'd rather visit the store though as I often spend more money online! It's a family run business and I think that's what makes it a winner. Always good to support local independent traders.

Even that slightly sawdust scent that goes with hardware stores. Now, this store does not carry the reputation of two that I have reviewed before. But if I lived in Wimborne, I'd be a happy camper. Collandars, graters, knives, tupperware, caddies, drainers, cookwareand then hammers, nails, screws, and thingummies. They also do garden furniture, indeed, there was a very rustic looking one on display outside. I really could have spent ages snooping around, but hey ho, time is the master of our lives. No fifth star because there seems nowher to park, so how are you going to lug your goods to the car?
