I consigned with them for the first time. I was on time to pick up my clothes that didn't sell and they give you a list and you have to go find the clothes on the floor. One of the shirts was missing and I looked everywhere. I told them it was missing and was told, "Well if you don't want to look for it, that's on you." Note that as of November 2023, they are no longer at 255 Richmond Rd but are at 358 Richmond Rd now, it's just down the street a bit further west. The new location also has free parking but behind the store instead of in front. The parking access is via Danforth. Rikochet Resale is a consignment store. I like the layout of the new location better. The entrance is long and narrow but when you walk towards the back it opens up and is quite spacious. They have a mix of contemporary and luxury items. They have women's clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry and other accessories. I like that it doesn't smell musty in there and everything is organized by size and colour as well as type (e.g. coats, dresses, pants, etc.). Prices are satisfactory for people who usually pay regular retail prices. I am a bargain shopper extraordinaire, so I was less impressed with the prices. For example, I saw a used Kipling purse for $75. I saw the exact same purse at Marshalls last week brand new for $50. I saw a pair of cute Sorel boots for $150 (in my size too), they were in good shape, but obviously used. Winners regularly has brand new Sorel boots for $100-$175, and I've gotten them on clearance for as low as $40. I also scored brand new Sorel boots at Nordstrom Rack once for $25. Full disclosure, I'm a women's size 5 in shoes. Being a less common size helps with scoring deals. Anyway, I'm hard to impress when it comes to deals because of my track record, lol, so others may consider something a deal when I do not. They do have some unique pieces. I spotted a cute Caty Lesca (French brand) dress. I love European styles and I like finding brands that aren't readily available here in Canada. Staff are nice. They greet you, but then leave you alone to browse, which I like. They have a colour-coded tag system. Some colours have additional discounts such as 10%, 25% or 50% off. The legend is located on the wall behind the cash register. It's a bit small and far away. I would recommend they make it bigger or post it somewhere where it's more visible, like at The Clothes Secret in Old Ottawa South. read more

Mona, hope you will read this review. I have never left a review for a store. In this case if I could I would give it a minus. I just got home from your store on Richmond road. I can't believe how rude your salesperson was ( purple hair). She wouldn't accept anything because I had a bag with neatly folded designer items and some newer worn. Then I had other designer items on hangers which were refused because I was told right away to come back because I didn't read instructions on line. I mentioned that I could rearrange it , but no not good enough. I don't live in the neighbourhood and drove some distance. Not a chance. I will never go back again nor will I recommend this store. I have to say that people are kinder to their animals. To consigners be prepared that you're not treated very kindly and there is absolutely no customer service. read more

I went to drop items off at Rikochet Resale and some were rejected and some accepted. After leaving the store, a few days later I got called and told they were rejecting everything for various reasons and to come pick everything up. I stated that I was in the middle of moving so I would come when I can. Fastforward, I showed up and my stuff was gone (assumed to be donated). This was not cheap stuff (lululemon, genuine leather boots). I tried to reach a resolution with the sales person but at one point she just started ignoring me for other customers. I waited patiently at the cash for her attention and eventually got the business card of the manager. I sent an email to which I got a reply that apparently if you don't pick your things up within a time limit, they donate your things. Would have been nice to know (I am new to this whole re-sale business). She has since then ignored my emails, requesting to find a resolution and make this right. So I messaged them on social media (privately) asking the same thing and explaining that it was because I have not received a response via email. I discovered this morning that they blocked me instead of responding. What do I do here with this? I don't usually speak up, as I worked in retail for years, but this just feels sleezy. read more

Every interaction I've had with the who seems to be owner has been completely dreadful. Not only does it seem as though you are a complete inconvenience to her, but any question or comment I've made to her seems to be met with an eye roll. I don't understand how this company is in business. I've had possibly 5 interactions with her and every single one is met with complete dismissal. Also, the new COVID-19 policy seems absolutely outrageous. Clothing must be dropped of, and any items they don't intend on selling will be immediately donated with "NO EXCEPTIONS". Unfortunately I gave them my expensive clothes and when I went there today to check with them I noticed that the donated my clothing without asking me. I told them no donation from the beginning and this time after 3 months and half without asking me they donated everything. I even do not believe and trust in this type of donation they do, because who knows really if some stuff is just missing and sold out and they don't tell you. Consign your clothes anywhere else! Really poor customer service, and they lost several items of mine. The staff don't care at all if any of your items go missing, or even try to help you locate the items. It seems more likely that they sold them and didn't credit my account. I dropped off about 14 items approx one month ago at the Barrhaven location and am always sure to mind the date that the items need to be picked up before they are 'given' away. This past weekend I went to pick up my items and they were no longer in the store. I did find some of the items and did not care about the cheaper items but there were two items that I really wanted back because they were new and not-so-cheap. The items were not in the store and when I asked what happens next, I was told that 'because I did not buy the insurance package, there was nothing that they could do'. This makes me wonder - do they sell the items and make a profit and then say oh, you didn't buy the insurance so too bad for you. I find this a very bad way of doing business. Sandra read more

Totally agree with the reviews posted here. Staff is so not helpful. Crazy considering their business model is based on people bringing clothes to them. You would think they would see us as partners, but that is really not the case. I was in recently picking up some clothing that had expired, and I looked for quite awhile for one particular item. When I asked for some guidance/suggestion of where the item might have been moved to, she offered no suggestion other than "well if it still here it should be there". Gee thanks.... When she started removing the clothing from the system, she could not find one item. I assured her it was mine, but she was rude and said a lot of people drop off items and there could be two the same. True enough, but you can be polite about it. In the end I was right it was my item. It was freezing cold so I just ran into the store, but when it was time to leave with my items, I realized I had left my bag in the car. Since she had a pile of empty bags behind the cash, I asked if I could have one and I got a NO. Not "I'm really sorry but we need to keep those, I'm sorry I can't because of Covid. Just NO. I found these reviews as I'm now looking for another consignment store to bring my items to, as I no longer want to deal with these people. If you have high end items, I would strongly suggest you bring them to Trove Fashion, only 5 minute drive from Rikochet. They are very selective in what they take, but they are super nice, have an on-line system where you can check if your items have sold and how much is owing to you. If your items don't sell, you send an email and they will gather your items for you and put them in a bag for pick up. They also etransfer the money on your account. A very professional operation compared to Rikochet. I visited this store both as a seller and potential customer for the first time today. I dropped off my bags of items to sell at the front counter and browsed the store for a while while they took a look. My impression of the store as a buy was that it was ok. Maybe it's the time of year but I found everything in the store to be either black or grey. I wished that there was a bit more colour variety. Even in fall there are such rich, fashionable colours around but I didn't really see much here. I also found most of the cuts and styles of clothing to be suitable for older women and not so much for a young 20-something professional. Upon walking around I found only a few things that interested me. The previous reviewer states that it's a great place to find vintage. I didn't notice anything vintage and their buying policy is that clothing must be less than 3 years old. As a prospective seller, I think they could do a lot more in terms of putting the correct information on their website that would lead to a much less frustrating experience. I found three main 'miscommunications'. 1. Website says that fall and winter purchasing begins in August. Because of this, I mostly brought in fall and winter items, only to be told that it was premature and they weren't purchasing fall and winter items. 2. Brands list on the website is out of date. Some of my pieces were up in the air, I wasn't sure if they would take them. About half of my items were brands listed on their website as brands they purchased. The associate however told me that it was their policy not to accept those brands. To top it off, one of the brands that she named as being unacceptable was the maker of one of the items I had picked up for a closer look. 3. The website says the only take items that are a maximum of 2 years old, but the sign in the store says 3 years. So, as a seller I found the experience to be very frustrating and felt like I wasted my time driving across town only to be turned away for reasons contradictory to what their website says. I based what I brought on the website. As a buyer I didn't find much that I was interested in purchasing. I will say though that they had a couple things from very high-end labels for sale at decent prices. You can expect to see things in that store from relatively cheap to comparable at what the item would sell for in it's original store to expensive but a good deal for high-ends. read more

The customer service is inconsistent: some members of the staff are super friendly and helpful, others are clearly bored with their job. My biggest beef is their treatment of people who bring in items for resale. My items are often new. Rikochet sells the items for absurdly low prices and then takes an enormous cut of the sale price. Do NOT use this store. The owner Mona is incredibly rude to her customers. I went in to browse, saw a bracelet that looked much like my Links of London bracelet for 19.99. I grabbed it went to the front counter to purchase it, mentioned that this seemed to be a Links of London bracelet so i definately wanted to purchase. I was taking out my card to pay when this woman came to me GRABBED it out of my hand, and proceeded to start removing the price tag! She stated that she now could not sell it since i indicated it was a Links of London bracelet ! she refused to sell it, said she needed to make sure it wasn't expensive or a links of london bracelet and that if so it was marked incorrectly. When i explained to MONA , that while i understood that its unfortunate when people don't recognize a bracelet like this , it still doesn't make it right that she take it from me and refuse to sell it. She gave me some rambling story of how it could be FAKE and she would need to check. I said great, if its fake i'll take it anyway , then it was no..i'd never sell this... yeah right , you have no clue about what is good quality jewelry until i pointed it out THEN snatch it from my hand and refuse to sell it. I asked her for a card to contact her or someone else who would explain this "policy" of taking items directly from a customer's hands. I provided my information and asked her to contact me on what or if she was going to allow me to buy the bracelet at the price she had on the article. I've heard nothing, from all the reviews i have read about this store it sounds like they don't deal well with customers , keeping their property from being lost, or tagging the price of articles. My wife used this service to sell off some designer bags, clothing and accessories that she no longer wanted. I think Rikochet is ok in that you can sell your stuff with more exposure, however you make a small portion of the sale and the business keeps the bulk of the sale. The huge downside, in my honest opinion, is that the deck is stacked in favour of the store. 1. If we lose or misplace your items too bad for you. 2. If someone steals your stuff, too bad for you. 3. If you don't come and claim your stuff in by the date specified the items are forfeit to the store and too bad for you. 4. If you don't claim your money for sales made on your behalf by the date specified you forfeit that too. Too bad for you. So they have CCTV? Maybe but I didn't see a camera anywhere. Also, they put your stuff on the sidewalk outside the store with no supervision so it can easily leave with whomever. Do you see a pattern here? If you know all this before you deal with them then fine. You went in with eyes open. But really you need to know what your getting into and not wait until you have lost stuff or money with no recourse. read more

After reading many reviews about this place I thought I would try to take some clothes in and see how they did-you never know until you try! I walked in and the lady says. 'what brings you in today???' I said I have some clothes to consign' and she looks at me the way an animal looks at its food before it eats it. She says 'womens??' I said 'yes' She says 'spring and summer??' I said yes. She says 'put it here' So I set it down and I said do you go thru it now or later and she says...'COVID!!!' And looks at me like I have 3 heads. So I said yes I understand. So I put down the box, give her my name and number and she says 'I can't guarantee that your clothes will all stay here...when will you be coming back? I said I'm not sure I'm from out of town, maybe in a week? She says, 'Well, if I go thru them then I'm going to ask you to pick then up before 3 days...' Just so rude and unfriendly...why can't you treat people like humans and not like animals? You may not realize but people actually read the reviews and it leaves an impression on your business. DO NOT sign their contract or if you do, read the entire page before doing so. I went to drop off some clothing and they wanted me to sign a contract, urging me to just sign and not read it. When you DO read it, it has terrible clauses similar to 'We have the right to throw out your clothing as soon as you leave the store' and 'we have the right to sell it for whatever price we want'. Essentially dropping off your stuff, they own it now and you are lucky to get a fraction of what it's worth elsewhere. When I asked the employee about the clauses she told me contradictory policies, which is a red flag to me. Tell me one thing but make me sign another. I packed up my stuff and left. I like this place a lot, sometimes they even have high end stuff for sale ( once I saw Chanel espadrilles for 250$) but the issue I have is sometimes they sell stuff like Old Navy for practically the same price used as it is new? Very weird. I have also tried on some stuff that's CLEARLY very used. All in all, they have some cute stuff, I got a longchamp bag for 50% off retail and it clearly has never been used. I do like that everything they sell has been authenticated, however I find that some of the clothes are not in great condition. I will be returning in hopes of finding another amazing steal! I was quite disappointed with my experience with this store. I had a $200.00 dress, worn once, in mint condition and thought, key word, thought this would be the place to sell it. The web site boasted that they only take quality items and that you could get cash right away or sell your items on consignment. Well, FYI the Barrhaven store doesn't give cash right away, they only do consignment, contrary to what their site says The store, to me, seemed a bit cheapish, but I went ahead and signed up to sell on consignment. I thought, again key word, thought that my $200.00 dress might be marked for sale at about $100.00 and I get 40%. That would be ok, somewhat worth the effort of having to keep an eye on the sale of my dress in case it didn't sell within their 2 month deadline before they ship it off to some charity. I wasn't quoted any price, I had no idea how much they would be selling it for so I went the next day to look and the dress was marked at only $24.99. Seriously! $24.99! Hardly worth my effort and I felt somewhat insulted. I took back my dress and will never step foot into that place again. I guess they have good bargains for buyers, but don't be fooled into thinking that you will be making good money on your "quality" item. I don't need the money, I don't care about the money, I just thought someone else could purchase a nice $200.00 dress for maybe half price. If you are considering dropping off items for consignment, I repeat STAY FAR FAR AWAY!! Although my friend had warned me to not consign with them as she had a bad experience, I gave them the benefit of doubt. The end result of my experience was missing items that could not be accounted for. I am a very meticulous/organized person by nature, so before I consigned with them, I made it a point to make a personal list of every item I dropped off. I even went so far as to take pictures on my phone of the higher end items. For the items that they retained, I noted them with a check mark. A few of the items I dropped off were brand new (tags still on the items) and were high end labels. When I went to collect my payment for the merchandise that they sold, I requested the sales representative print out an inventory list of all my items. I reviewed the list and collected the items that were not sold. However, as I further reviewed the list, I noticed that there were quite a number of items that I dropped off which they accepted that were not listed. I inquired with the sales rep about this and she said she would do a search in their computer system. She could not locate any of the items I described. Again, I gave them the benefit of doubt and to make sure that it was not an error done on my part, I informed her that I would search in my home. I double checked in my personal belongings and did not find the items. When I returned and spoke to the manager, her attitude was very flippant and dismissive. She informed me that there was nothing she could do as I could not prove that I dropped off the items (despite armouring myself with my own personal inventory list that I prepared the day that I consigned with them). She did not try to compensate me in any way - I would have even accepted a $10 gift certificate - in my opinion that would have shown me that she was trying to make an effort to show some good customer service skills and reach some type of resolution. In fact, quite frankly, I thought she was rude, very defensive and hostile. In hind sight, what I should have done was asked them to print out a list my items that they retained on the day that they accepted them. I should have not waited until the following month, when I collected my payment. It was my first time consigning with anyone and it did not occur to me to even ask - naïve on my part. If you take the risk and consign with them (or anybody), I highly suggest you do this. It would have been great if her staff offered to do this when I initially came in, especially considering that I was a new customer. Lesson learned, I should have listened to my friend's initial warning when she informed me that they had lost some of her items. Basicially, I consider the items I brought to them stolen. Brutal business model, brutal consignment plan, ineffective and inefficient. In addition to previous reviews about the quality of the customer service, they actually "accept" your items, and then call you in a few days to let you know items have been rejected and now need to be picked up. Would it not make sense to have the employee vetting your items trained to do so? The employees are unclear on the competing policies and therefore cannot perform their jobs with consistency, ie, when to accept or reject an item. No one has time to go back and pick up items that are rejected on second inspection. One of the items dropped off was explicitly checked to ensure the hem was intact, called a few days later to be told that item was now rejected because damaged, when damaged happened while in their possession. Shady business practices and just not worth your time. Also, the quality of products for sale is not as advertised. If you want some worn out coach shoes, this is the place for you. read more

I've had much success selling my items at Rikochet Westboro and find the staff to be friendly,helpful and knowledgeable regarding what sells and what doesn't. Having owned a consignment store, I realize how shoplifting is unavoidable. The staff is expert at noticing flaws in items. It never ceases to amaze me how insulted certain individuals can become when their clothes are not accepted for resale. Totally unhappy with the customer service at Rikochet resale, and wishing I had donated my items to a charity far away from their store. They were insistent that they couldn't take a sundress of mine (I dropped off when it was nearing fall), which was understandable. I took all the un-sellable items to St. Vinny's (including said sundress), and a week later the sundress was one of their featured items online! Since I gave it away I undersand that anyone is entitled to purchase it, but they were emphatic that they would not, could not, consign it for me. I think this is indicative of poor and dishonest customer service. I also think the consignment policy works to their favor, not the consignee's, and allows for items to "fall through the cracks" to their advantage. How can anyone be certain they actually donated an item and didn't simply sell and take your share? Lesson learned? Forget the money and give your gently used clothing directly to charities that need them. read more

I visited Rikochet Resale on the weekend and was greatly disappointed. I had read on the website that Rikochet was a high end friendly consignment store- nothing can be further from the truth. The staff was unfriendly an did not acknowledge customers as they entered or left the store. The racks were sectioned by colour and size but very crowded and the items I did see were from Reitmans and Zellers. Although there were some knock off designer purses. read more

Rikochet is an awesome place to find "unique" things, especially now that they have expanded it is so much easier to look through the racks. The service is easy, the sales people will welcome you and then leave you to browse at your leisure, I love the fact that they only accept items that are in good to excellent condition. Give yourself time to look through the racks and more often than not you will find something fabulous and unique..really nice leather jackets, tunics, dresses, clutches and many other things. I have shopped there for myself and my husband. One more thing, they get amazing Jewellery, some consigned and some new ones as well All that to say, it is a really great place to find unique things, but make sure to give yourself lots of time... you will get addicted :)) read more

Rikochet Resale is fantastic! I recently purchased 4 items for Spring (including a BCBG cardi, originally $359.00 with tags on, for $59.00), all in fantastic condition and for less than one pair of Lulu Lemon pants! Can you say "cha-ching?!" (...that's the sound of money staying IN my bank account!). They are really thoughtful about which items to accept and display and know their customers well enough to know exactly what sells. This is the store for you if you A) are socially conscious B) enjoy finding a smoking deal and C) are a good human being supporting indepently owned businesses. Again, still problems with consigning. I have gone in as much as 2 weeks before expiration. Two out of five items had gone "missing". I asked the salesgirl if theft was a problem as this happens every time I bring items in. She told me I could now purchase insurance. No thanks. I'll just bring in items I don't care about getting back. It's a shame - this store is a great idea and I'm all about recycling. They need to tackle why items are going missing and not just ask people to pay for insurance. I am extremely dissapointed with this store. I went to drop off a huge collection of brand name womens and mens clothes that were nearly new. The lady working there ( I think her name is Mona), took about 20 minutes to finally look at the clothes we brought even though we were the only ones in the store. And she didnt even look at all the clothes in our bags- she would look at the first item in the bag and then reject the entire bag!! As for the selection of clothes at the store, you can fing a couple of nice things but you have to be looking for a while. Would not go there again. read more

I should have read the reviews about this place before I stepped foot in there. I am totally appalled at the Customer Service I got from the Barrhaven location. I will never use consignment again! I dropped off a Coach purse in June and was told that the manager was not in but would be in the next day to look at the purse and decide whether it was worth selling. If it wasn't, I would receive a phone call to let me know and to come back and pick up the purse. I never received a phone call so I assumed it was put on the shelves to sell. DON'T EVER ASSUME. I followed up in early July to see what was happening and was told that the bag hasn't sold yet. Given that July came & went I did not receive a call, email or any type of update on the status of my purse. I went to the store in August to pick up the purse since almost 2 months had passed. The sales clerk working that day checked my account and she told me the transaction was cancelled the day I dropped off the purse. Seems odd to me because I had a receipt saying 1 purse was dropped off. I left my contact info so I could speak to the manager from the Barrhaven store. When I spoke to her, she said that there was no record of ever receiving the Coach purse and even questioned if I had dropped it off at the wrong location. Seriously, I was livid. When she checked my account, she couldn't confirm that anyone even called me about the cancellation because it's suppose to be documented on my account, and it wasn't. The Manager told me she would speak to the individual who was working the day I dropped off my purse, BUT I'm not holding out any hope.
