The Side Bar is a true diamond in the rough of what is Lawton, Oklahoma. The owner(s) is definitely not a local and why he would live here is beyond me. BUT the ambiance, decor, and cosmopolitan look is very well done and stands up with any great bar in Deep Ellum or Lower Greenville. It's only when the clientele open their mouths do you realize, "yup, I'm still in Lawton, Oklahoma." The bartenders are not just cute but actually were attentive (more so than many places in Dallas) and, considering it is Lawton, Oklahoma, know what a Manhattan is as well as an Old Fashioned. Unfortunately they served without rye but I don't hold it against them (looking at you management/owner) because I was immediately told about it. I'm looking forward to asking for a sazerac or a cosmopolitan on my next visit so hopefully they have the goods. The only issue I had with the staff (IF he is on the payroll) was some idiot who treated the music as his own personal playlist; diverse clientele be damned. Even the bartenders were annoyed at him but he straightened up once the owner was on site. Also, there is a lot of smoke/vaping but I give that a pass since, well, it is Lawton, Oklahoma. A deeper search looking for bars and taverns on yelp revealed something that I couldn't tell if it was real or fake due to the limited profile. Once I got there I realized that I had discovered a hidden gem. Don't get me wrong. The food was not a culinary bastion of excellence and the service staff were in need of some training. But the beer was clean and cold and the food was served hot and tasted pretty good (Unlike some of the other places I've been in Duncan). The staff seemed to really care about what they were doing. Between all of us we chose mash potatoes, green beans, regular salad (with amazing homemade ranch), caesar salad, beer batter fries, & fried okra. All of us where very happy with our selections. The chicken fried steak is HUGE!!! None of our steaks had any gristle in it!!!!Our server Linda was great. Our water glasses never were empty and she was very helpful with her honesty on selections of food and sides. Toward the end of our meal, the manager came over and checked on us. Tickets were $30 for the event, they didn't even check our tickets and I saw the bar just letting people in without tickets or paying a cover. The show should have been FREE as it was worthless. We were here for a girls night out celebrating a friend's birthday. The bartender forgot it was GNO and overcharged us on drinks. The drink prices were still not expensive and they had a ton of choices. As for the 4 "dancers " , one was either super gay and hated being around gropping women, or he was married and not wanting to be there- or maybe he is a miserable person. He sucked at dancing, was not friendly and only did 1 group performance. The 2nd one. Kevin West, is a semi retired chippendales dancer. He looks like someone who is too old for this and needs to just stay home raising his kids if he is married . #3 a dj and former choreographer for Magic Mike performances, his name is Shadow. He was great from neck down - although after 6 drinks many ladies were thinking he was a black Channing Tatum . The last one , Darcell, the youngest of the group and best looking chocolate dancer. The last 2 stole the show with their performances. After selling a deck of hands of 5 cards per dancer at $20 each, the dancers performed badly choreographed dances . All I could do was laugh at how silly it all was. Grown women letting guys thrust their sweaty balls in their face as they got groped. The music was off, dancer didn't come out on cue. Their Italian manager was really creepy af. It was a total Sh××show. I wish I could get my $ back. So warning, do not pay $$ for any of these Stripper shows, they are trash and not worth it if free. Although all the drunk gals enjoyed themselves and many almost went back to the hotel to enjoy cough cough , their company after the show.

We were greeted at the front podium fairly quick and offered smoking or non-smoking options. Non-smoking for us! Which in the long run did not do any real good. About all that section offers is no direct smoke blowing in your face. Still reeks of that nasty smell and after sitting there a bit it activated my allergies stuffing up my nose. :-( The place looks clean. Plenty of music memorabilia lines the walls to liven up the atmosphere. The wait staff were very friendly and checked on us often. I ordered the Meat Loaf, with extra meat of course. ;-) Accompanied by sides of a Vegetable Medley, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and an extra of Baked Beans. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the Meat Loaf tasted. Stacked on top of the Potatoes and smothered with a brown gravy. The meat had a really sweet glaze that gave it a nice kick. My only complaint was the vegetables were refrigerator cold. Not sure if they are meant to be that way but, I rolled with it and ate them this time without question. For example, every Friday night, from 5pm to 10pm they offer a large steak for just $10. It is located inside Comanche Red River Casino, so go ahead and order the pricey items. You are going to win all your money back in the casino. I have dined here on several occasions and I have never had a bad meal or experience. The people are really great. On Saturday nights, the place is very popular due to the live band.
