I went back for a follow up visit to see what correction was needed, another prescription was written and again, the glasses were awful. I went back a third time, was finally listened to, and another new prescription was written. Not surprisingly, the third set of lenses were the worst of the three and absolutely unusable. I have requested my complete records back in order to move on to a new provider and I was told that my records now belong to Balin Eye & Laser Center and that I have to request my records in writing and pay $0.50 per page to have them copied before they will release them to me. Dr. Brown was nice but his prescription(s) weren't correct for me and my new glasses are totally useless to me. In addition, the entire office space and exam rooms are outdated and in need of updating at the very least. The patient use rest room had wall paper hanging off the walls and the ceiling fan was filthy with dust when I was last there. Good luck if you choose this eye care center.

The eye doctor that I saw told me that she would not prescribe me extended-wear lenses, she doesn't put anyone in extended wear... fair enough. I left the office with a script for lenses that I take out daily, a bit more expense but better for me in the long run. When I left, I was a little off put by how the doctor explained my options for eye health to me. I admit that I wasn't knowledgeable about the issues with extended wear lenses, but I never thought I'd be made to feel guilty about it. Flash forward a year. I went back on 1800contacts.com and ordered more lenses when I got a reminder via email that I should be running out soon, good timing as I WAS running out. Placed the same order that I did last year.Today I got a notification that my lenses shipped, yay! I received a call from Ken's Eyewear at 7:50pm today, it was the owner telling me that I was no longer welcome in his business. Verbatim, "Never come back to my store again, you're not welcome here." He explained that I never returned for a follow up and that I was putting his license on the line. I was under the impression that he would have been able to decline the order had my prescription expired. I have insurance through work, so I would have happily returned for a follow up, had I been prompted. I've never felt disrespected by a medical professional before. If anyone has a recommendation for a respectable optometrist in the Valley, please point me in their direction. Until then, I'll stick with JCPenny in Holyoke.

They tried to give me an appointment with an NP, but when I asked for an MD, they said I'd have to wait another 9 months. I'm not surprised by the many negative reviews and the fact that they're struggling to stay afloat.

They laid off a bunch of staff with no consideration to there patients. The doctors and the doctor staff are truly great I've never had a bad doctor in valley medical center.
