I'm not sure it could be windier or chillier than when we visited. Brrrrr but so worth it to see the views. The power of the ocean brought huge waves into the shore. The green of the grass contrasted with the dark rock created stunning views. As you walk along the boardwalk, don't forget to look in the grass along the way to see the Cape Barren Goose and its babies. So cool. Pictures can't relay the beauty you this natural area. Put your camera down and just watch. You won't be disappointed.

You can see the waves smash against the black textures rocks bursting white as the waves crash and filling the air with a mist of salt. It beautiful. On your journey down the raised track you will encounter sea gulls, rabbits and if your lucky even the baby penguins which inhabit the island waiting for their parents to come back and feed them. During certain months of the year the platforms become a viewing deck for the Wales that migrate through the bay and if you have binoculars you can glimpse at the seals which live of the far island. Pick up was at Sorrento Pierre where you are provided with safety instructions and wet suits, flippers and snorkelling gear. The staff were very friendly and numerous and were always doing their best to ensure your safety. This is an package designed for strong swimmers especially on those windy days. I really struggled as I was a weak swimmer but my partner had a ball being able to interact so closely with dolphins and seals in the harbour. They did their best to entertain those who did not choose to go under by bringing the sea life aboard like the rock crab. People on board were able to view the dolphins closely too as they approached the boat curious of what was happening. The dolphins approaches our boat to investigate the commotion. They were so beautiful. We finished off the day with a free swim by a common resting area for seals. The seals were really friendly and one pup was even brave enough to approach the swimmers for a play. It was a great experience and definitely something you have to add to your bucket list.

There are well over 3000 members that congregate here throughout all the summertime spending furious amounts of money over the bar and enjoying a very à la cart menu in the dining room and a very simple menu from the downstairs galley. This venue is more than a food or a bar venue it really is a sailing club that Fosters family spirit youth sailing and the sailing of Couta boats. I would highly recommend for anyone that knows me to make it one of your must visit venues if you haven't been here before and make sure you try the dining room and go right through the wine list as it has an extensive wine list, fabulous food and fabulous company. One of the better surf beaches in the area!…read more Patrolled after 10am by the local life saving club, flags and all, it's pretty good for the kids to go out and have a paddle. There's also a lot of surfers here, and it's a great place to take the body board out and catch a wave or two. This is a proper surf beach, with waves (and swells) of over 2 metres; please be careful - as always - around the water... but have fun! :)

After doing some research we found Go Ride A Wave. After easily booking online we arrived at the shop and met the staff. They were happy and friendly and made me feel comfortable. Becky took us out with 2 others and taught us about the beach, currents and etiquette. After a short and educational instruction on the shore we headed out. Becky was amazing and helped us catch our first waves. She pointed out what to look for and taught us what to do. I caught so many great waves and had a blast. I would definitely go back again. Thanks for great memories and encouragement. I always felt safe in the water with Becky around.

The shop is easy to find in Torquay and street parking is easy. The staff are relaxed and nice, and will help you find a good wetsuit (if the water's a bit cold like when I went.) It is an easy stroll to the beach from HQ, and the on-sand demos and instructions make sense. Once in the water the instructors spend good time with you in a group lesson and make sure it's not frightening. It wasn't scary at all, and I met some nice girls in my group who I'm now friends with in Melbourne. I've been to other surf schools where it felt competitive and I was afraid to ask questions, and I didn't get that here at all. I felt encouraged, and even when I was tired staff kept me motivated. Initially I felt like a fish out of water, by the end I felt like a fish flying over the water. I became a lot more comfortable in the ocean and loved the feeling of riding a wave (okay, it was whitewater- but still, it was a beginning!!) They have plenty of mazes, tree surfing, tube slides and a 3d indoor maze. Normal entry included everything except for the tree surfing. We went through all the different mazes and the most fun part of the trip were the tube slides. They have 4 giant slides where you need to lug a donut up a hill but it is well worth it. The 3d maze was a bit scary for me but most of the kids didn't seem too fazed! I really really wanted to try the tree surfing but as we arrived a bit later to this place, it was fully booked!!! I will be back to try that and the tube slides again.

Looks can be…read moredeceiving: this is a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids, or even without them. The entry fee pays for everything. There are several different mazes: a beautiful, quite difficult hedge maze, a formal maze, an easy maze for little kids, several puzzle mazes with color-coded rules for moving about, and, my favorite, a hillbilly maze made from old mattress-springs. Interspersed among these are woodcarvings of wombats, kangaroos, and the like. Then there is the tube-slide down a steep grassy slope: basic but surprisingly fun. We had meant to stop in briefly on our way to the coast, but ended up spending several happy hours here.
