Well, Yelp! wins again. Dr. Steven is amazing. If you second guess why he's at the top of the Best Of lists, well then you owe it to yourself (and your spine) to give him a ring. I called and left a message about hoping to get in quickly for a consult and an adjustment due to some back strain from moving/biking/life. However, being in meetings on a Monday and Tuesday meant little time to actually try to schedule something - can't be stepping out to make calls constantly. Dr. Steven was able to work with my schedule over text, and within a matter of minutes, I had an appointment that fit my schedule, and he gave me some (very reasonable) cost for services. I wasn't in the quaint waiting room before Dr. Steven came in to get me. On time. His demeanor was very casual and welcoming, which I love. I had a chiropractor once whose mannerisms were so erratic, I would always get nervous he was going to snap something or trip over his own feet (he was good, though, but man, just made me nervous). We went to his office, and he sat down and listened to me. Just sitting down and conversing with me meant a lot - no jittery movements, no multitasking, no BS. He took a great history and did some test movements to make sure he wouldn't injure anything before doing an adjustment. His adjustments lasted a fair bit longer than I have had in the past, as I usually get a quick crack or two then shoved onto a traction machine or some other contraption. Not Dr. Steven. Using only his handiwork and one handheld tool, he manipulated, massaged, stretched, moved, and then adjusted me. He educated me on some of my body's natural mobility, and the rationales for why I might be feeling some of my pains. After our appointment, he gave me some GREAT tips on how to improve my pain and spine health at home, and offered me to just message him and set up another appointment. In today's hectic world, finding someone who is accommodating, flexible, and skillful is a daunting task. I've been going to Steven for over a year now and can not recommend him highly enough. I started going for serious sciatic nerve pain after months and months of agony and a few adjustments later that pain had significantly resolved. I've continued to go weekly and each time I leave feeling so much better than when I walk in the door. He's also just a wonderful person who is a pleasure to hang out with for a few minutes a week. Both of my kids see him now as well, and both have had significant improvements in their own alignment and comfort since starting. Getting them up on that table was not an easy feat but Steven talked them through it, helped them feel comfortable, and got them over that hurdle. I am from New York and spend much of my year in the Asheville area so i was looking for a local chiropractor to continue my adjustments here. I was guided by a friend to Rise Chiropractic and the amazing Dr Stephen Casses! He is skilled and thorough, allows personal time for each patient without overbooking, and that feels really good! The absolute best in town, and I had to kiss a lot of frogs:). Went to several of the "Best of Asheville" chiros and found them to run their businesses like mills- trying to get as many people in per day as possible instead of treating my individual case. I even had a top two chiro, after seeing me for 2 years forget that I had scoliosis.:/ Dr. C is far ahead of the curve. Where others will adjust you the same every time, he tests and adjusts according to what your body needs currently (which for each of us changes regularly). I was on vacation in Asheville and had acute neck pain--and happened to find Dr. Cassese on Yelp thanks to everyone else's fantastic reviews. I'd lost quite a bit of mobility, and upon leaving his office after a quick visit, I'd already gained about an inch of motion back, and the rest came back by the next day (phew). Such a relief to go from acute to functional again, especially when you're away from home and your normal care practitioners. I've had work done before by a number of providers in NYC and Oregon, and he's the best one I've been to. Not only did he go wildly out of his way to get me in last minute (especially knowing that I would be a one-time client), but he did fantastic work, was a great conversationalist, and gave me a bunch of restaurant recommendations to boot. For thirty years chiropractic care has served as my primary means of treatment for what ails me. I have had a variety of practitioners and I find I get the most effective treatment from a physician who has developed the touch to identify my trouble spots and who knows how to work the tissue, sometimes aggressively, to resolve my issues. I recently performed a stunt another would have wisely chosen not to do and ended up severely injuring my back and rib cage. I have been seeing Dr. Stephen Cassese for over 3 years now. Dr. Cassese is amazing and a healer! I was so skeptical and afraid of chiropractors before and decided to give it a shot after having back pain and knee pain for a long time. The approach that Dr, Cassese has is wonderful, loosens you up with a muscle rub before he focuses on the ailment. He is gentle and effective, friendly, professional, knowledgable and highly skilled. My back pain is gone and so is my knee pain. His prices are affordable, which allows me to see him on a regular basis to keep me healthy and active since my line of work is in the food industry and I enjoy gardening as well, so my back needs the love and care that Dr.Cassese's hands give. Oh, one more thing, I developed tennis elbow over the years from knife work and repetitive arm work form slicing, lifting, etc..it got so bad that I could not lift a glass of water, after a few sessions with Dr. Cassese it was gone, I have not had that return in over a year! I went in for my first appointment today and I was SO happy with the care I received from Dr. Cassese. He was friendly, professional and thorough. He took time to do muscle work before adjusting me, which yielded great results. I have had issues with chronic neck and mid back pain for years, have seen multiple chiropractors over the years, and I will say that I enjoy Dr. C's approach the most. This isn't a chiropractor that tries to get patients in and out as fast as possible, where it's just a few cracks and you're out of there. Dr. C made me feel really comfortable and cared for. To whom may read this. Please understand that I had a fear of going to a chiropractor, therefore I researched and well more research. After reading some other reviews I choose to go see Steve. I am in healthcare and truly believe in chiropractic care, yet sometimes you go to an office and leave with a large follow up visit schedule. Dr. C made me feel welcomed and like a person. I have been going to him now for 5 weeks. My hiking has improved a thousand fold, mid back pain gone, I can turn my head to the left all the way again! I was referred to Dr. Cassese by a friend after I had been in an auto accident. I was unable to fully turn my head, sit comfortably, or sleep without pain. A chiropractor friend referred me to Dr. Steven Casses, because she said he was better than her with the lower lumbar. I was having horrible pain spreading up my lower back resulting from my hips being out of wack, and I have, I mean had, a tendency to get kinks in my neck. Since seeing Steven every few weeks for the past year, I have yet to get a kink in my neck and the sharp pain in my back has not come back. He spends a solid 30 minutes with his hands on you with deep tissue work and adjustments. My shoulders feel like they are floating afterwards. I have been impressed since the first visit with the treatment and results, and I would say this has been the best treatment I have had with adjusted. Dr. Steven Cases treats the entire person. His office is comfortable and he evaluates what each person really needs so there is clarity of what the desired healing is and awareness of any pre existing issues to be cautious of. He warms and loosens the neck and back muscles with massage in the beginning so the adjustments effectively are more gentle and productive. (Most chiropractic offices do not offer this without an extra cost, or they do adjustments without relaxing the muscles around the spine.) He even checks extra joints of the body to be completely thorough. I burst out laughing the first time I had my ankles adjusted when he checked them because I did not realize they were adjustable.
